Excelent work VideoCD, when I was lookin at those sample pics I was thinkin this looks pretty crappy for a DVD-SCR, but then I jsut remembered this is a telecine, so as a telecine it looks great.

HAS THE BEEF WITH VCD QUALITY AND VIDEOCD BEEN SQUASHED? I see that all of VideoCD's releases from the past 2 months have [magically] been posted! That's GREAT! I'm glad to see that they worked things out! I hated not seeing their releases listed on here for so long.
As far as this release, it's cool. I've seen so many releases of this movie that I really don't care that much anymore. Might as well wait for the retail DVD at THIS point.

Video 8
Audio 9
Movie 7

If you guys think that is a quality TC...well...shit you've never seen a really good TC...it has bad IVTC or something which makes it jump every 5-10 seconds and the video is cropped...should be nuked...

one more time VideoCD?

This release is not necessary. The Telesync was a perfectly fine release. I mean its a nice release but not that much better than the telesync.

Props to VideoCD for ownin the vcd scene

I don't understand what's with teh DVD menu at the beginning.. PAL.. Sure this is a TC?.. take a look at the scene with Elle driving to Budd's.. perhaps its something wrong with the way they did it, but the scene goes black, comes back on, goes black again.. sound fades in at out at that part.. the rest is alright.

Video = 7 (jumpy, bottom of the subs nearly cropped completely off)

Audio = 6 (PAL.. slight hiss/weird sound in the background)

Movie = 10

TC wasn't really needed, TS was great.. but this will keep me busy until the Vol. 2 DVD

Posted by BONE on 06-07-2004 03:39 PM:

browsed through the bins using VLC .. jumpy frame rate may cause epileptic seizures, use caution

overall very nice rls .. but a re-encode may be due

doesn't deserve the high marks, I've seen better

videoCD still kicks ass! tnx again

There has been released a custom DVD-r with dolby 5.1 Awesome!

Posted by BiggD23 on 06-07-2004 06:07 PM:

Screen is cropped...subtitles are cut off at the bottom, you lose almost 50% of them. That alone is enough reason to skip this release IMO.

Posted by digitalproduc on 06-07-2004 06:29 PM:

^^so very true
*waits for the next release with uncutoff subs and framerate steady*
which should be in a few days i would suspect

whats with the framerate? at the begining, it seems to be going fast when it shows the bride getting shot, and then it skips about 30 sec whiles she talking in the car, and then skips another 30 seconds while the reverend is talking. if this is the repack, then why are there still errors?. hopefully there is a dvd screener floating around soon

This TC is horrible. Sure, the video looks great and clear and the audio is clean... but it's so skippy and even a little out of sync on cd3 when she's talking to the old Mexican pimp. And, keeping with tradition of their releases lately, the ending is cut short - not showing the cast credits *which is a great part of the movie imo!*.

5/8/9

Most good TC like ones by chakra show the entire movie including credits. Take some lessons from Chakra.

i had a prob with vlc and wmp with the framerate being jumpy, so i tried the BSPlayer that is packed with k-lite mage codec pack and it work perfectly.

download it here

Posted by EmPreSS on 06-08-2004 02:06 AM:

I don't watch movies on my computer monitor. I watch them on my TV... no codec pack will solve that. But thanks for the info, I'm sure some will appreciate it.

the picture is off center or something.. its evident by the fact the the subtitles are cut off.

sound is good, but its pal.. everyone has a little squeek to their voice.. i've watched the NTSC version a few times and it sounds more normal..

movie = awesome

edit:

when i say its pal sound, i mean it plays quicker than the normal versions.. this is evident if you listen to the soundtrack songs & speed of the music/voices.

just out of curiosity, what was wrong with the initial Kill Bill 2 release (the one before this repack) by VideoCD?

Skipping frames are more than annoying and missing a too big chunk of video (subs barely visible). Can't watch the movie this way.

Yeah, I gotta say it's got a few problems, not the least being the stuttering problem. The video quality is great, and I could deal with not having some of the subs, but the problem with the jumpiness is so distracting, even in the sample, that I'll stick with the TS for now.

Posted by TeK-Delorean on 06-08-2004 09:24 PM:

Great release, only 8 on the video due to the subs being a bit hard to read but it's really not a huge deal unless you plan on keeping this for your collection. If you are just screening the movie or watching it again it's no big deal. I didnt notice any screen jumping or flickering (except during that brief driving scene) but I'm playing on cpu not on TV.

7 on audio, very crisp and clear but there is a tiny bit of buzz that would be annoying if played on a home theatre system.

10 on the movie, instant classic. More talking than pt1 but the dialogue is genius...

August 10 wow we should be getting a dvdr soon

Posted by Pansen666 on 06-09-2004 06:12 AM:

Audio is completely out of Sync, in addition to all Video-Problems this sucks big time.

5/4/9

Posted by Nick13 on 06-09-2004 05:43 PM:

1) There are frame skips every 5-10 seconds. Probably when they were multiplexing video and external audio source - it didn't match exactly.

2) Subtitles cropped to kill so nobody knows what they are talking about when they speak Cantonese or Japanese.

3) The movie stops just before credits come out and that kills the beautiful song and footage at the end so I attached ending from another release - you can see the difference in quality but it's much better then no ending at all.

BUT despite all that; it's THE BEST video and audio quality up to date! Overall it doesn't destroy anything and the movie is more then perfectly "watchable".

All together videoCD did GREAT job on this one and they deserve our appreciation.

I give it 9.0 / 9.0 / 10 if video didn't skip I'd give it 10.

Umm I have both releases of this flick.. And the Repack seems to have moved the camera up just a touch higher.. Excellent pic and sound..A worthy telecine rls... However, now the subs are indeed in english and not French, but they are still cut off.. U can read em, but i thought the REPACK would address this issue guess not.. Will Definitely do me till the the DVDRip or screener for Subtitle fix..Call me picky. I don't care LOL.. Enjoy

Posted by HipB on 06-14-2004 04:34 AM:

ok i dont mean to diss a good release like this, it is a pretty good TC... but fuck cropping its a godamn TC, if anything is hard coded to the video, fuck it, the cropping made it hard to impossible to read U.S. subs, specially the 2nd lines of them, i will wait, saw in theatres 1st day, and it turned me off, its alot less than the 1st, but good in perspective as a 2 part movie, either way this rls is video 7: reason is its cropped there is no reason to crop a TC ever, even with mixed subs... audio, what do u expect from Vid cd? 9-10, dts or direct sound always rule, and the movie itself... i guess its 7 no more, nice end in all, but as a 2nd part its lame

Posted by HipB on 06-14-2004 04:55 AM:

ok... thats all, a bad TC IMO... no need for cropping with or w/o foreign subs, i give this some gratitude, but i will wait til i can read the subs clearly:
as a TC: video 9 but cropped 7
sound: what do u expect, a lil less than it should be 9
movie period: i thought its good, but a 8 no more, maybe 7, just 2 slow compared to the first

Posted by ToolTime on 06-14-2004 09:40 AM:

Awesome release movie was kind of disappoint compared to Vol 1.

8.5/10/7

This movie lacked action and was way to predicable. The way Bill dies was like bah nothing to exciting at all. The part when she steps on the eye is pretty bad though lol

Posted by vcd fogie on 06-14-2004 09:51 PM:

very crisp video, slight hiss on audio... BUT, there is some really intense frame dropping going on. its even noticable in the sample. every 5-10 seconds, the video "jumps" or "skips"... basically it loses between 10 and 30 frames (1/2 second, or 1 second fully drops out of the video), which was enough to make me delete it =[ i'm suprised this wasnt 'internal'

personally, i'll be sticking with the amazing telesync (thanks VideoCD!!!) until a proper of this telecine, or a dvdscr. sorry VideoCD, i love ya, but this was a waste of bandwidth =[

2 (unwatchable with those frame drops, imho... gave it a 2 since it's really crisp) /8/10

Kill.Bill.Vol.2.Telecine.dvdr-VideoDVD

i don't know if this is of any revelence, but there is a dvdr of this floating around now by VideoDVD. im not sure if the subs on this are cropped or not, i hope they're not since i'm geying a dvd burner next week and wouldn't mind having this.

Posted by Extractor on 06-19-2004 11:59 PM:

VideoDVD rel is the same cropped, half-visible sub, frame-skipping stuff as SVCD rel

Posted by Jibson on 06-20-2004 05:49 AM:

I've noticed the same things that scorch has, at the beginning (quite briefly) there is what appears to be the screen from a dvd menu, and at the end some text flashes up (couldn't read it) and off again with a picture of Pai Mei.

Seems to me that a TRUE Telecine wouldn't have those little additions, so what was the source?

8/9/7

This release looked good to me. The vid was nice and audio was pretty good also. IMHO a pretty good TC. Props to VideoCD once again
