No subs apart from russian so it's another russian TC seems to be missing round 8-9mins of the movie if my calculations are correct but u can never tell just by going with what IMDB says

IMDB = 149M for the movie and my local thearter is 153M so i guess it will depend on where it's played and what is edited due to censorship.

went to see this last night at cinema, not bad, the book is better.

Posted by CiEZ420 on 05-24-2006 07:41 AM:

this is a good quality TC, as good as it gets until a dvd scr/rip, due to the whole movie basicly being in the dark. I imagine this is what the poseidon TC would look like due to the darkness in that one too.

Occasional slight out of focus blur but corrects quickly each time, color isnt too bright but its not washed out. Audio is good but not the best ive heard from a tc. This one's a keeper folks, one to watch.... nice job from pukka once again.

8.5/8.5/10

EDIT: The subs ARE in russian, the only time they appear is on the phone when they are speaking Latin, maybe 3 times in the whole movie. Having watched the whole movie I can tell you that its no big deal that there arnt English subs... The bastards in the movie speak way more French than Latin, and there are NO subs in the movie what so ever for when they speak french. So what im saying is.. stop whining about the subs, ITS NO BIG FUCKING DEAL.... can you say S H E E P N U K E. Scene rules can kiss my ass, this is a top quality release of a blockbuster movie and thats all that matters.

Posted by MonsterMetal on 05-24-2006 08:23 AM:

Comment on the time factor first off
in my local theater, previews started at 10pm, movie began at 10:15, movie finished at about 12:35.. maybe this will shed some light

def not the greatest but damn good improvement from PUKKA... audio isnt the best either but good enough, besides is aint no action/graphic packed flic so u dont need no fantastic audio .. It is very watchable and by far the keeper release(keep in mind, i havent finished viewing the whole movie yet)

Now i have also noticed in the TC Svcd release by SCEPTIC, the darker set scenes r a tad brighter than Pukka's but i hope someone else can clarify this even further b'cause sleep deprivation has gotten the best of me for tonight so...

By the looks of it it is only missing the credits the full movie is around 2 hour 20 ish with out them

Anywayz the quality is same old TC stuff with slighty iffy sound

8/7.4/?

Posted by Striped on 05-24-2006 10:16 AM:

There are no subs at all hence the nuke. guess the race is on to propper this with some subtitles now

but anyway

6.5 taking this down 1 cause it looks like a rush encode to be 1st out the gates with the tc
7.5
5 boring

I agree totally with this guy.

Excellent rls Pukka, and to think that someone put a nuke symbol next to this, yet Rustlers Silent hill is still sitting there without one with 18 mins missing about sums this place up

nice rls

Beacuse silent hill is iNT, I agree the previous release (rustlers) should be nuked but so should this so another group can do it more justice.

I think the svcd is better, theres no pixelation in it like there is with this rush job.

Best release to date only a few subs missing that you can do without

When i saw it in the cinema it did have subtitles for when they spoke in French.

Posted by starbuckwest on 05-24-2006 01:27 PM:

al start by giving my marks 8,8,7 for TC

av watched 3 copys of this movies and all the samples now this is clearly the best one to date. as for nuking this for missing sub its a joke because none of the other releases have english subtitles its a cheap lame way to nuke a movie. this is hollywoods way of fighting back in my opinion. just throw some french and latin into a movie and confuse the masses. finally i should say i understood the movie but i do speak french and english so it didnt bother me

Well, I totally disagree....no subs makes it worthless.

there are more subs in this film than when there are talking on the phone.
the pic is good also good sound

I can member when bourne supermancy came out, videocd or maven did it cannot remember but it has french subs, like where he talks the the old women near the flat its in french and you cannot understand anything.

Beanz have you even watched this yet because it has the credit.
To this release so what are you on about

Posted by isinginthebanned on 05-24-2006 05:09 PM:

I speak French and what they're saying isn't a HUGE deal. You pretty much see what they're talking about anyway.

9.7.7

Not as good the second time around.

The picture was clear (if a little dark), sound seemed absolutely fine to me.

As for the subs, the film is definitely watchable without them but it does kinda ruin the experience. Saga seem to be the only bunch able to get UK releases so hopefully they'll do one of this. Its the only way we'll get english subs cos I don't reckon anyone will be bovvered to do their own cos the film IS watchable without.

Posted by gingernut on 05-24-2006 07:40 PM:

well im not bothered like somone comment on what more do you want for free people will be wanting popcorn and icecream chucked in aswelli say like everyone else if you gunna moan and not give anyone the credit its due to this release then dont bother commenting on em ...

just hope now releases of silent hill / mi3 are due soon

Given all the crap releases of this film I'm so happy I waited and grabbed this one, Great copy and well watchable,

If you needed to see this film then look no further this one is fine.

Posted by CiEZ420 on 05-25-2006 12:49 AM:

You dont need the damn subs, except maybe totally anal people. 99% of the movie is in english, I understood the movie just fine without them and whoever else cant do so is obviously too thick to put one and one togeather to make 2! LOL, so to recap, this release is beautiful for those who have no trouble keeping up with a plot and not so good for the mentally challenged who need the 1-2 mintues of subs that are missing to understand the whole story. I cant fault this release and neither should anyone else, just take a quick look at all the TOTAL CRAP being released lately and as usual Pukka's standing strong.

8.5/8.5/10 [it takes a lot of guts to make and act in a movie that you know will inflame millions if not billions of people]

Posted by tArqueLL on 05-25-2006 01:04 AM:

to add to the debate, film length (from cinema just now..) 2 hours 20mins, from first glimpse of the grandpa running, to the roll (beginning) of the credits.

7/5/6

i really do think you need subs for this. thats why im rating audio low. as for the film, great use of special effects but pretty poor dialogue/character development...but a good story.

Posted by SeeDee_MKII on 05-25-2006 01:11 AM:

proper just been pred, but save yourself the hassle of d\l it again, and just d\l the subs, they are in sync to the pukka version on both disks and sound is better on pukka

V 8.5/A8.0/M10

I just watched in cinema and there are lots of subtitles for the French spoken segments, one helluva lot. There is quite a bit of latin as well.

First 30 mins of movie is based in Paris and 80% of dialogue is French, therefore subtitles are needed.

english subs for this release using substation alpha and vobsub.

The KY version is missing the conversation between fache and collett and the beginning of cd2

Posted by Anno on 05-25-2006 03:57 AM:

CiEZ420, there are actually nearly 150 lines/captions of subtitles in this movie so to say that understanding or even not needing the subtitles is not exactly true.
To fully understand and to get the most enjoyable experiance from this flick (unless you understand french and latin) you most certainly DO need the subtitles.
There are still a few lines of subs missing from the subs pack but nothing much to worry about.

Release is fair. Not good for a TC but audio isn't too bad.
The subtitles are now availble so this release is OK with the .srts in place and make it fully understandable.

They speak ALOT of french in the movie which are subbed so people who dont speak french know what they are saying. Its part of the movie not something someone wanted to do out of shits and giggles.

Posted by neurotoxin on 05-25-2006 01:44 PM:

Surely with the added subs now this verson shouldnt be nuked?

I mean none of the other `ones` had the subs anyway, seems slightly unfair if you ask me. Is it one rule for one and another for someone else in the Pastures now?

sorry not directly related to commenting on the quality.

Posted by Mr Anarchy on 05-25-2006 07:06 PM:

I've edited the SRT Subtitle files and updated them.
I've corrected the spelling errors, grammatical flaws and rephrased some lines.
I also took some additional lines from the
Vobsub sub version.
These new subs are much better .

seems like there is always something to bitch and complain about.. I still think this is a solid release, but Id be interested to know from those who watched the movie both WITH and WITHOUT subs if it really made a difference ??? I did, and i didnt think so.

I didnt even notice an issue with the AR but i usually pan and scan all the movies to 4:3 anyway.

Posted by pjfan0281 on 05-29-2006 05:11 AM:

this release was just fine with the additonal subs. no need for their "proper" release even.

v - 8 - little dark in spots, and missing some subs here and there
a - 8
film - 7 - wasnt nearly as exciting as the book

Posted by mattylad on 05-30-2006 01:03 AM:

Enjoyed the film alot. Haven't read the book, to be honest didn't really even know what it was about, didn't expect much from the film but was really enjoyable.

V - 8 No problems at all, slight dark maybe but perfectly clear
A - 8 Fine through the TV, although faults did show up through headphones.
Film - 8

Watched it without subs and can't say I had any problems following the film.

Hey mate you just need a movie player that lets you load a sub file. I take it all of the subs posted are in .SRT format?
Anyway you need to get BsPlayer which is what I use for all movie watching on PC.
You might need to download VOBSUB too. A google search will lead you to it.
It's very simple once you get those two programs.
Good luck!
[not rating the movie as I ain't got it yet!]
