I dont care if centropy isnt ripping as much as the used to they are still my favorite group. Intill ftf is as good as ctp i will never d/l one of their releases. quality is better then quantity so GO CTP!!!!!!!

Very nice, motion and colours seem good, but the audio is lacking "something", but the main point is its nice and clear. I'm sure i can fiddle with my amp a bit and get it pumping like i want it.. props CTP, i was hoping for a high quality watchable release, and thats what we've been delivered.

well, since there's a Movie section, thought i'd comment on the movie....

heh ... i'm a sucker for keen (or overdone) audio editing, so i loved it from that standpoint. i also **love** Michelle Rodriguez (sp?) ..and what's-her-nuts from Fifth Element was a definite bonus (in more ways than one =) ...all in all, i thought it was on the extremely high end of OK to low end of Great, but was underwhelmingly mediocre, if you take into account the Resident Evil licence. oh-so-much-more thought could have been put into the plot and everything (i know my diehard RE fan friend will hate it)

all in all, fans of the horror-on-a-diet (modern) genre: must see --9/10

RE kiddies: 8/10 (you know you love the flashyness =)

hardcore horror (oh, i donno..) 6/10, i suppose (if seen in a THX house)

hardcore RE fans: 3 to 5/10

i'm just sad i didn't preview it the night before it came out =(

ps ... anyone know where the discs are split on the two releases in case i feel like getting around to grabbing a better sounding copy of it?

i hope another group like teg or tmm release this movie...my apex play pal movies out of sync

what the fuck is it with this group, the picture quality is perfect for a telesync but the sound is really average, the biggest issue here is the Aspect Ratio, it is totally off. If they left the bloody thing as FS it would be FINE, but they try and squash into semi wide screen making everything look sqaushed, if you re-encode it using a correct AR like 4:3NTSC fs stretching the image back to rmeove the black bars then the AR is correct, why make FS shitty WS?

this rls is fine to me...

another nice centropy release. just finished watching it on my sanyo dvd player. picture was full screen, i never noticed any aspect ratio problems, and the sound, while not perfect, was very bearable. no sign of the hiss that's audible when playing it as an mpg on computer. there was no de'sync in the audio, for my player anyway. the color on we were soldiers was a little better. the trademark blue tint returned for this rls, but it's still very watchable, and that's the point. props on a great release

Out Of Sync !!!

Well there are 2 things to do if you are out of sync.

I have an apex 1500 and i do the following.

Convert .bin with vcdgear to .mpg and then burn with nero.

Or convert it to ntsc with either tempenc or another software.

I only have problems with a few of all ctp releases that I actually download and I have only converted one to ntsc when it was too bad. In this case it might be better to download the FTF version since they release in NTSC.

Nero fixes a lot and i hate to convert since its a quality loss.

I have a lot of pal vcd movies and its only ctp that gives me problem somtimes. I dont know what software they use to get it to vcd format since the other groups doesnt have that problem.

CTP are not bad but they are doing something wrong when they get it to cd in vcd format.

Great Quality, clear picture and good sound... wasnt expecting this quality so fast. Thanks CTP!

Great job, Centropy.

This was a great encode, Centropy. The only thing I noticed was sometimes there are these black things at teh top of the screen. The audio was good, and the picture was very clear. I can't believe FTF tried propering this, there was nothing to proper!

nice TS rls, movie played fine in my stand-alone.
too bad, the AR was wrong.

aight, here it is, i actually got both releases of this movie, just because i was bored out of my mind and i couldn't get any pussy... that's another story though... anyhow, it turns out that the ctp release is better than the FTF in my opinion... so hey, looking for quality release, get the ctp... peace out

i never flamed this release or any release by centropy cause the quality and sound are always great...its just i get pissed cause my apex plays thier releases out of sync cuase they are in pal..i tried the movie on my brothers sony which played not another teen movie and colat damage perfect...well in resident evil the sound and video were had no sync problems in the sony dvd player but every few minites blocks would show and then go away and then right in the middle of cd 1 blocks showed up and never went away and the movie froze

centropy does a great job in thier releases i just want to know why they cant be encoded in the more compatible NTSC.

Aspect in NTSC

Well the quality is "good" on this one but I had to convert it to ntsc since i cant watch a movie when the faces looks like they have been squeezed in a vice.

I do not have a pal tv and i wish i had but even though the conversion from my dvd player is good i just had to convert it.

The FTF version is not better either since the aspect is not good either in that release.

I rather have less quality and correct picture than good and bad aspect. At least there are no desync problems and that is good.

Well i did convert it and it was a slight loss, noticable if you look for them but absolutely nothing serious. Certain scenes became a little "blocky" but at least the aspect is good.

If i would rate the loss i would say 0.2.

Note about the microphones on the screen

If anyone is interested about the microphones appearing on the top and bottom of the screens I can tell you why..

When a film is made it is shot bigger than the film stock (16:9, 2.35:1) So normally the shooting aspect is closer to 4:3 (pan & scan) That way the editor has got some room to move the capture box up and down the frame in order to get the shot the director wants. And so the shot is trimmed to a nice clean 16:9 ratio in the final edit.

In this case the guys at centropy got a pre-final edit of the film hence the occasional microphone. Also at the end of the film if you look at the top of the screen you can see black composite markers in the final shot.

I hope this help you guys out there

PS Thanks to the guys at centropy as us Folks in the UK won't be able to see the film at the cinema until June.

That makes sense about the mics, but if it is a telesync that was made on the release date, why would it be a pre-edit copy?

Good quick release.. The video quality was above average. The sound was very good. The movie was about what I expected so I gave it a 6 out of ten. Good entertainment value.

The quality of this release is good only in the sound i hear a humming on the background but he its free so i shut up

I've heard that Centropy's releases aren't Telesync's, but instead are just crappy Telecines, which does make sense in this case due to the mics in the shots and it not being matted properly. I know I've seen mics in other Centropy releases (I.E. Not Another Teen Movie, Orange County, etc). but nonetheless, I'm not here to shit on Centropy whatsoever, they do nice quick releases and I always look forward to 0day releases usually every 2 weeks.
