Holy SHIT! Theyd fool me if they said DVDSCR with this release...especially when put up with Ring's version, this stands out. Sound is EXCELLENT, and colors are accurate and vivid. 10/10/9

This is the keeper. The release is PRECIOUS

ONE TELECINE TO RULE THEM ALL.

Awesome job.

not seen the movie at all yet (sigh, i know!) but sample colours and framing look accurate enough to me. can't really judge the audio as its 6am and my speakers are down low (and im at the pc not the DTS ES sound system in the lounge) but it seems fine from what i could make out.

hoping that a dvdr print will be produced, as it *might* be anamorphic if it came from a PDVD. and thats something i'd rather like

8 for the audio
5 for the movie

not a big fan, but looks like someone found a dts or dolby disc

Posted by commiewhore on 02-18-2004 08:06 AM:

Posted by pHo on 02-18-2004 08:12 AM:

From full version..
Chakra never seems to amaze me..this could pass for a dvdscreener. This release is flawless. And all 4 disc are actually in sync..unlike the cd3 and 4 of the screener. This is a 110% keeper...Thank you guys for this Chakra you rule on the best releases...

Rating this a 10/10/9...

Posted by FDisk80 on 02-18-2004 09:52 AM:

Cool

It's made from russian TeleCine. http://sharereactor.ru/cgi-bin/mzinfo.cgi?id=1102

I have this release like from a week ago. I know Russian, so not really a problem for me.
It's a russian dubbed TeleCine with a new sound track on it.

8/10/9 (the 10 is for the dubbed in russian version. It sounds perfect in russian).

Posted by pezley on 02-18-2004 10:21 AM:

Sexy.......

easily best yet, audio is ass kickingly nice and video is also up there amongst the best TC's i seen

definately dvdr worthy so you dont have to change discs.... im just a lazy git

9/9/7 ( bleh wasnt the best of the trilogy, ill leave that for fellowship :P)

Posted by mikeyrana on 02-18-2004 10:36 AM:

Why waste the bandwidth or the column inches anymore, lets be honest unless you are an anorak then all three films are overated and boring i don't think i've watched one yet without falling asleep which was a disapointment to me cos the books are excellent.

Nice release though judging by the sample.

Posted by Chewsmoka on 02-18-2004 10:50 AM:

From Sample

Video : Good quality, nice colors and only a small bit of pixilation, overall, very nice.

Sound : Excellent, crisp and clear.

Been waiting for a watchable release of this movie since it came out, finially Chakra belts out a nice TC. Needless to say, this is the best version so far.

Cheers Chakra, continue your good work.

Edit :: Burned all four disks and watched on my pioneer stand alone - OUTSTANDING release!!! For all of you cryng about a DVD Screener, stuff it, this baby is just as good visually and the sound is superb.

P.S.

For you lames arguing about subtitles, its only for about .28% of the movie, so stop creaming your pants its not in english.

9/9/8

It'll do nicely thanks.

Much rather have this over the SCR. Suppose i'll finally see this movie, but only if this TC is slapped on a DVDR.

No way is it the best TC though. Personally i think that award still goes to BASiC for Agent Cody Banks.

8/7

I never actually found that release that great, everyone said it was fantastic,... i just didnt agree.... but saying that maybe it was cause it was agent cody banks and i wasnt paticularly bothered either way

great release, i'm impressed. based on sample, i'd give it 9/9/10. both video and audio are almost flawless. colors are vivid and bright. downright the best trilogy other than the godfather trilogy. good job chakra.

Posted by Zorcerer on 02-18-2004 04:23 PM:

To mikeyrana: I have to agree that the lotr movies can make you fall azzzzzleep, happens to me every time o trie to watch one of the movies. But i dont think thats because the movie is boring or bad, you have to be prepared to see a long film like this, lots of coffee, or anything to keep your eyes open.

Besides very very good version this is, from sample it looks very good, but since its four cds and i have allready the ts, ill wait for a dvdscr or dvdretail....

Are the subtitles in Russian, too? If so it would be quite difficult for me to understand Elrond and Arwen :-(

from sample:

this is almost as good as a dvdscr, and is certainly better than rings release. the sound is real nice, pic is excellent, i mean its better than the matrix revolutions tc, i think i am going to encode this to dvdr and get 5 channel sound, this will hold me off till the retail for sure.

10/10/9 for a telecine one of the best ive seen.

As stated before, one telecine to rule them all. One of the best, superb quality.

bah lame russian subs when people speak in elven

Posted by guardian1128 on 02-18-2004 11:35 PM:

Well as long as the subtitles are at the bottom of the screen and not too intrusive then it shouldn't be a problem then..

Suppose if you wanted to be technical about it then you could blur out the russian subs ..

Posted by dvdhouse111 on 02-18-2004 11:38 PM:

9/9/7......Didint like the third as much as two towers but they cant all be as good as one another (never are in a trilogy) Ace release but we are suffering on the qty of dvdscr as of late

Posted by pbol on 02-18-2004 11:51 PM:

Sorry for being new and stupid but who says it's subbed ? The nfo doesnt mention it, sample, what sample ? The jpg ? Yeah it looks fine but I don't see subs.

Posted by EviL AnGeL on 02-18-2004 11:52 PM:

Jesus 33 posts and no one can state whether the subs only appear when someone is speaking eleven or if they are constantly there through the whole thing. Makes a bit if difference to the watchability don't you think.

Posted by mikep2001 on 02-19-2004 02:04 AM:

Subs Only...

NO the subs only appear when talking elvish (and yes they are in russian or whatever) which is not too much at all in this movie. No subs throughout the movie like you see in japan/china releases, it is by far the best release, it is kind of weird seeing the title (Lord of the Rings then Return of the King) when it starts in russian but thats it. So the movie is in english, no subtitles throughout, only when there is elvish talk you see russian subs.

Posted by Schmiggy JK23 on 02-19-2004 03:00 AM:

For one, the screen in the jpeg isnt at a moment when there is talking, so of course you wont see subs.

The sample looks great, id say 9's across the board.

its in PAL format :/

and they mean russian subs when the elves talk in elvish

Posted by unique on 02-19-2004 05:59 AM:

if th subs only appear when the elves talk elvish does it mean that the movie is dubbed russian?? usually russian dubs a pretty sucky considering that they on't even take away the english and some guy mumbles it in russian after tey say it in english!

My God, you people are lame. As stated above, the subs hardly EVER appear. If you are really anal, you can take the time and edit the release and blur out the subs. I think I can live with it until a retail rip though.

Anyways, superb release. I just threw my RiNG discs away. Video is crystal clear and sound seems flawless.

9/9/10

Thumbs up very nice

well what can i say- very well done chakra. the video is very good considering its a TC and encoded very nicely- none of the tremendous pixelation during battles like the vcd SCR. sound is right on, didnt hear anything upsetting (havent watched the whole thing though), and as for the movie itself, well you know the drill- either you love it or you hate it... me.... LOVE it. if you can spare the 3gigs to download, this is the best to date of this flick.

8/9/9

What the everyone is trying to point out about the subs is that if they appear in Russian how the hell are we supposed to know what is being said? What gets spoken is in Elvish so you can't understand that either meaning if you don't know the story and haven't seen the film before your gonna be missing out on plot!

They don't mean theres russian subs throughout the whole film.

Barely on topic question, but: Why dont they use an NTSC source for telecines? Can they not telecine straight to 24fps video?

About the subs..

The subs are useless, approx ½ of the time the actors speak, there is NO subs.. If you where not able to hear all the sound, u would miss out on ½ of the dialog in the movie.

Could have been ALOT better!

I don't know about other Telecines, but this was from a russian source and Russia uses PAL like most other countries besides Asian and North American countries do.

It's actually better for me, I like PAL better and I can use my video output instead of the RGB one (they say that RGB is better, but my TV is old and it doesn't really work well so I rather use Video output).

Because they are european u xenophobic prick

Posted by Truman on 02-19-2004 10:53 PM:

Very nice rls best out there by a long shot no other can come close, yeah its from a russian source more thumbs up to those in Chakra to take the time to match it with supberb sound. nice one lads you kept the many very happy indeed.

As for those who moan about the LOTR trilogy dont watch them if you think they are shit then we wouldnt have to put up with reading your shit, each to his own....just keep it to yourself

Posted by bcool2k on 02-20-2004 01:02 AM:

Wow, this rls is excellent for a telecine. It's really too bad that I've watched the screener too many times to bother with this one, but watched a friends copy. Excellent Video Quality, much sharper than the ring, Great Audio, much better bass and no sync issues on cd3 and cd4. An of course the movies awesome. This sucker clock in at over 3 gigs so be prepared to wasted some serious space, definitely worth it, best rls so far. Oh yeah and definitely read the NFO, this copy is a dupe of a Russian rls and there are some subtitles.

9/9/9

Posted by Jdigital03 on 02-20-2004 01:57 AM:

Awesome telecine, as already by far the best release yet & despite the subs still worth the 3 gigs

9/9/10 favorite of the trilogy just my 2 cents tho

props to Chakra on a great release!

nice work!

From Sample
10/10/10

Lots of a DVDRips don't even hope to compare, astounding quality.

Posted by gfavored on 02-20-2004 06:29 AM:

Hi,

Just got the whole thing, it is nice, it's dark in the dark scenes, really dark. I was going to re-encode it until I had seen the Diamond release, 3cd xvid with Ac3 5.1. So I think I'm holding off right now on this one till I get all of Diamond's.

Posted by mikep2001 on 02-20-2004 08:54 AM:

Diamond Release??

So does "Diamond" have a re-encode of this??? I have not seen that anywhere so I am curious. I agree, the dark scenes (which is a lot of the moive) are pretty dark even if you adjust on tv. So I am wondering if there is a new re-encode that is better. This version is by far incredible compared to anything else that has been released. If whoever "Ring" is they could have made it perfect being they had a VHS screener but obviously they do not know how to capture. And yes before anyone flames me I do knwo a great deal about capturing VHS tapes, that is what I do for a living at by job.
