Little Black Book *SVCD* - TELESYNC - maVen

From SAMPLE but was dragged to theatres by gf to see this couple hours ago and though it sucked

6.5/7/3.2

cant really get a good rating from sample and i wont be watching this movie again soo.... dont know what to say

Posted by pHo on 08-08-2004 07:03 AM:

i'd love to know how you managed to get a "7" for audio from the sample. the audio is very crisp and clear, and synced perfectly. picture is sharp and probably looks decent on the tv (i'm only checking on the monitor where the flicker and darkness are a bit more noticable than on a tv)

You guys will only watch "chick flicks" if you're forced too? I went to the theater by myself to see this one as my wife works nights and couldn't go. I enjoyed it alot.

Another decent release from maVen as well.

anybody burn this yet?
seems a CD1 repack might be needed:

Nero:
Total capacity for burning: 80:13:14 705 MB
Total capacity on disc : 79:57:74 703 MB

nero took it, and burned successfully, however when sticking it in my Pioneer 5 disc standalone, and hitting play.......it just sits there and does nuthing

CD2 seems fine, nice pic and in sync

Posted by resetman on 08-09-2004 05:13 AM:

is it me and my copy or is cd 2 out of sync???????

Question CD1 work for anyone else

i was trying to encode this flcick and cd2 works great in vcdgear and everything but cd1 when i try to open it in vcdgear it doesnt connect the cue with the bin file. i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do about that or if id have to just wait for a repack to come out

Posted by ou812 on 08-09-2004 06:23 AM:

Have to edit the CD1 cue to look like the CD2. Easy fix.

Posted by Dmo on 08-09-2004 09:17 AM:

Burning CD1?

Hey folks I renamed cue file just like cd 2 and still no go size is to big. I am using newest nero.

Good catch. CD 2 IS OUT OF SYNC.

Dang, maVen, we all like speed, but if you're going to mess up 2 releases back-to-back, you should either check your stuff before releasing, or let VideoCD handle the source from now on.

That said, your repack of Collateral was quick, and appreciated.

Excellent Pic and Sound from maVen..Props on the rls too bad cd1 requires overburn.... A pretty good chick flick Enjoy!!

8.5/8/7

Thumbs up Little black book

look I just finish watching this movie...The picture and the sound is pefect, but the movie is a chick movie...But it was alright...Keep up the good work Maven

Posted by frak on 08-09-2004 04:40 PM:

cd1 is oversized.

i just tossed it into tmpgenc mpeg tools cutter and trimmed
off the first 48seconds of the opening credits (nothing missed
here - it's in french) and it'll put it at 804MB - plenty of margin.

quality looks very good as does the audio.

however, it'd be nice if they checked this stuff before sending
it out the door.

Posted by paleh0rse on 08-09-2004 06:55 PM:

can we get confirmation on the cd1 size and cd2 audio issues? we seem to be gettin mixed signals here... so what's up?

if you're too lazy to edit the cue file in notepad, just grab my little fix here
Little.Black.Book.SVCD.TELESYNC_maVen.CUE.FIX-iND
www.trustclip.com/ATNCA8VADGE6FeBBF8UTKC9J897

This is for all the peeps who did not know
that maVen's rls is not burnable, and also
do not know how to manually edit a cue sheet.

Little.Black.Book.SVCD.TELESYNC-maVen
after burning CD1 successfully and sticking it in
the standalone dvd player...it totally freezes and
does not start. After a little poking around, the
problem is found.

Original CD1 cue sheet:

FILE "mvn-lbbts01.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

which is missing 2 lines. Fixed cue sheet:
Little.Black.Book.SVCD.TELESYNC_maVen.CUE.FIX-iND

FILE "mvn-lbbts01.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:06:56

Hopefully this little note will help out other ppl.
I'm sure 100 guys have already burned coasters bcz
maVen rushed through, and didn't bother to even do
an nfo/cue fix announcement after the fact eitehr.
Hopefully this will save the next 1000 ppl from
burning coasters too. And a final note...source
is French. Audio is normal English spoken language
but opening credits/title are French. Hopefully there
are not a ton of hard coded French subtitles in this
film as in maven's bourne supremacy.

INSTRUCTIONS:

take the mvn-lbbts01.cue found in this .zip file
and overwrite your existing one, and burn.
Yes, maVen's .bin does require an
overburn (which they also failed to mention), but it
does all fit.

M M z

(p.s. CD2 in the first 30secs is out of sync, but it seems to recover back to normal quickly)

Posted by brandon_ae on 08-09-2004 11:18 PM:

cd1 IS too big. u gotta do some editing to it or run it thru some software to get it to fit. I'm overburning it right now to see what happens, I'll report back soon.

edit: I used alcohol120% and it worked fine up until 27mins on the standalone plater Also something weird, I would press display yto toggle thru the time elapsed and time remaining tickers and it gave me two different time remaining readings. first time i've ever seen that happen.

Posted by fluffinator on 08-10-2004 01:47 AM:

c ue problem easily fixed

open the .cue in notepad

make sure the cue and bin are i nthe same folder

inside the .cue remove any path info i nthe .bin location string

make sure bin is named correctly

if it stil lfails to play after a burn, i'd pull the mpegs off with vcdgear and reburn as svcd with nero svcd template.

tho i hate to admit it, i'm about to watch this stinker with my gf..

very SOLID telesync release.

8/8/can't say yet.

pic is clear good colors (on monitor and tv)

sound seems very crisp and synced up nicely.

hope theres some funny parts, kill me now

8.5/9.5/10

Picture was cropped a little on right side and had a head come into frame 4 or 5 times. (perfect color and brightness)

Perfect Sound! (A-) OOS for less then a minute on D2

Best "Chick flick" of the year!
(A must see film)

"Did not see this on the silver screen but will be adding it to our DVD collection when it comes out."

Peace!

P.S.
I dont know what all these people are talking about.
It burned fine for me.

I guess somebody is not using the right settings in cue sheets w/ good software.

FILE "mvn-lbbts01.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:06:00

FILE "mvn-lbbts02.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:06:00

Worked just fine w/ Fireburner Software and did not cut, edit or nothing. Just wrote cue sheet and "Burned".

Peace again!

8.5/7/7.5

Posted by Hurr on 08-13-2004 03:29 AM:

After editing the cue file for cd1 this worked perfectly for burning with a small overburn needed. cd1 is 703.8mb burned to disc so the OB was 4mb at the very most.

As for cd2, how the hell did you guys notice the sync issue at the beginning? I am still not entirely sure it was, might have been my eyes playing tricks on me If anything it was like an 1/4 second out heh

Picture and sound were mint in this release as usual for maVen. Seems they are doing great with all their releases other than the issues with collateral and even that was corrected fast with the repack.

Keep up the good work, we appreciate your efforts.

Anyways,

8/9/5

Posted by RUNE on 08-14-2004 03:33 AM:

ermmmmmmmmm

Yea, I fixxed the cue myself and it still doesnt work/burn. I'm using the Sony CD/DVD burner as well. Maybe its the burner perhaps? Never ran into this problem before... I doubt it could BE the burner, as the error is with the cd 1 cue sheet itself.

8/8/4 - Saw in the movies... was pretty decent.

excellent quality, esp. audio quality is nice, though volume is a little low, it's by no means hollow, as most other TS releases, no matter what group.

movie itself is primarily intended for females, though I must say I don't regret watching it, if you are bored, then go ahead and download it, it's not a total waste of time and there is actually a quite surprising twist in the story at one point, which I personally didn't expect, I thought the movie was all conventional prior to watching it.

btw, it was said that the actress playing the leading role is not suited for this kind of movie, because her hysterical personality conflicts with this meg-ryan type of movie. Well, I disagree, I think she fits perfectly well into this movie, there is enough space left for her to reveal her usual hysterical vivid and impulsive manner for which Brittany Murphy is so (in)famous

7/7/6

Posted by nitemare on 08-16-2004 08:30 AM:

8/8/2

pic and sound were fine..no problems. I did have to "overburn" with nero for cd1. Alcohol wouldnt even give me an overburn option..

the movie was pretty BAD..CD1 was a complete bomb..Once on CD2 - and the "jerry Springer" suprise was introduced, that was the whole movie...Without that twist, the movie would have been a 0... Even so, really bad dialogue, acting, and everything else...

Posted by Villain on 08-17-2004 03:34 PM:

OB

If some of you would read, the answer was already stated. Extract the mpeg2 file and cut 10 megs off with TMPGEnc. That's probably 45 seconds. Cue file editing? Heh, wow guys. Going to have to agree with Miller here.

If you want to learn a bit about burning and how it all works try reading this:
