Havent had a chance to see the flick yet, but thought I would comment on the quickness of the release. Hope the quality is up to par.

How Can We Rate Dragonfly if were not sure if its real..

How the heck can you guys even rate this release if its not even on any sites yet.... your opinions are based on jpgs and imbd ratings? isnt this vcdquality.com?

3 cds, 98 min movie, who wants it anyways. More crap by an unnamed group.

Dvd rips can come out before any other print, the reason = Dvd screeners, its all very likely nowadays, blame the oscars...

Just totally awesome...Yes its one of those "Oscar" things that yes, its on DVD..and its a screener.... You just got to find the right site for it, and believe me, its a great looking movie, but I hate Kevin Costner, but I would get it to say I got it.... As a critic, I'd say wait for actual DVD...but as a VCD flunky, its AWESOME TO HAVE!!!!!..

But it was nuked due to the fact the the RARs were all fakes. I hear FTF will be releasing a Cam/TS I'm not sure...

Ok, first of all, i would like to say i have viewed this release.

While i would definitly say its better than the average TS, the setbacks it *does* have are a few blemishes in the reel. I.E. Little black specs (more than the norm). But thats definitly livable.

I would give it a 7.5 Rating.

I would happen to agree with them. There is only one major thing wrong with this release, and thats the bitrate. This should have definitly been a 2 cd movie around 2000 bitrate 2pass. So other than that rookie encoding mistake (they will learn quick i hope) this is a great release, *especially* for how early it is.

I have noticed that very few people have actually to PREVIEW this release, which inevitably tells me that the quote: Courriers are lying about it to get fame to their friends or, the members of SID are doing this, which in case brings me to my next point, if it was a Workprint, and was a legitimate work print why wasn;t this released awhile back? and why would TMMVCD release a different copy? Great job SID,

I finally got all 3 cd's dl and burned.

No bin or crc errors, not a fake, and great quality, much better than the TMM TS. Not a DVD source, but very good quality, perhaps a PDVD.

The only fault is that it should have been 2 cd's.

I have FINALY managed to grab the film.....

i don't post THAT often, but feel the need t here.

ALTHOUGH i have not watched the movie yet, reading these posts to this release makes me realise a few things

1. the film un-packed fine for me, therefore i presume packed oki.
2. may well be 3 disks instead of 2 but hey, unless pointed in the right direction WITHOUT getting stamped on by the customer, how are these guys supposed to learn.
3. when a group first starts out, they need guiding ... these guys just need the break they deserve, and support from the movie lovers.
4. workprint - ts - cam - pdvd ... i have seen this release labeled a few different catagories, but let i have to remind myself ...

THIS IS SUPERB QUALITY PRINT - PERHAPS ON 3 CD'S INSTEAD OF 2 - A FAST RELEASE - AND MOST IMPORTANT .............. ITS FREE

anyone who provides a free service, such as these guys, should be supported and not flamed ... as they are new to the release scene, perhaps you guys should GUIDE them to whats required instead of smacking $hit out of them whilst they have their hands tied behind their backs.

All i can say is - its free so enjoy, if you dont want to down 3 cd's then dont...... this release group have my support, would be nice to see them have yours too....



as for the actual film, which i suppose we should ALL be commenting on, its not bad at all, print is good, sound is decent and i gotta say, the speed these guys got this out - its much 10000x better than the CAM i was expecting.

I have now watched the complete movie and I did not encounter any problems while viewing. Great quality and good job.

Now people are saying that there are scenes missing....

TMM: 98:39

Neither release has the ending credits...

For theatrical releases.. i dont see the point of nuking, its not like everyone has the sources to make a theatrical rip let alone the balls to do it. Unlike dvd rips we should just appreciate whatever is available...

HOWEVER If you do have the balls to do it and the cash to do it.. please don't make a movie under 100min onto 3 cds!!!!!... whats the point... Quality/Quantity can be made with 2 cds for that length.

3cd=no encoding skill

no comments on the release, this is regarding the discussion.

a 3 CD, 98 minute movie is plain and simple amature. never was a release more deserving of a nuke than this one.

there are 2 ways you can do things. the way that was used here is you can pump up the bitrate and say to hell with size. this method requries no skill, no effort and no education. the right way to do things would be to learn to encode. now this requires far more effort so its only natural that many people will opt for the first choice.

if someone takes the time to learn how to use filters, utilize different encoding methods and take the time to do some of the steps yourself instead of searching for a one click solution they can discover that when properly encoded you dont need an obscene amount of bitrate. if you can't encode a 49 minute SVCD that look outstanding then you are doing something wrong.

i think it is a pretty simple concept that is misunderstood by many. as i see it the essential problem is that most people dont encode, they just download and burn so all they know is what looks good to them. i honestly can not see how anybody with some encoding experience could justify a release this oversized.

as someone who does some encoding i can completely understand the reason for this release to be nuked. i would say it was nuked because you dont reward bad behavior. group releases should be able to meet up to a standard and if it can not meet that standard then it should be nuked. it seems SID is not able to encode up to that standard so instead they pump up the bitrate and 'fake it', then include a hostile, homophobic, obnoxious and immature nfo file to explain how its everybody else that doesnt know what they are doing. im sure that once SID's encoders figure out how to measure up to the standard that is expected they will be embraced by "the scene" but untill then they should be practicing elsewhere in a place that thier distribution of practice rips wont hold such a potential for harm by setting a poor example.

As someone with extensive actual practical experience gained in the reviewing of feature films i was particularly amused when this film was labelled a workprint. Any fool looking at this would be able to tell you exactly what the source was

No it didnt deserve a nuke and if it is so bloody easy to encode Dumbwaldo then why dont you get off your soapbox for 10 mins and offer some help re encoding this release. New groups need support not a huge knock back like this.
I understand and embrace an elitist stance to this scene. But i do not and will not accept blind nuking and wholesale dismisal of wht with a little tweaking is a great package.

my point is that it is not easy to encode, but it is easy to churn out a mega bitrate SVCD. i am not standing on a soapbox and the reason why i and probably nobody will ever help these twits is because rather than ask for help they tell the world that we are wrong and they know better, then they release poor quality encodes. ask any encoder for 3 sites to help learn how to encode and i can GUARANTEE that www.vcdhelp.com is in every encoders list. well head over to www.vcdhelp.com and look over their forum then come back and try to say i dont offer help to noobs, the problem is that SID does not believe they are noobs and they dont understand that you can encode quality SVCD's without knocking the bitrate out of the ballpark.
