Ok so why yet another release of this movie? Whats diff about this one?

Posted by shadowsniper on 12-21-2007 05:46 PM:

I.Am.Legend.PROPER.DVDSCR.XviD-iMBT was nuked for bad ivtc, this repack just fixes that.
The ivtc problems on the PROPER are only really noticeable if you're looking for them but if it's gonna bug you, grab this one.

Posted by OSH on 12-21-2007 06:49 PM:

The I.Am.Legend.DVDSCR.RERIP.XviD-THS (the framerate looks a bit off, but still very good) release and this one are just fine, and probably the best out. The only difference that I can see between the two is that the THS release has the "Warning" in the beginning. This release starts with the "WBs" logo. Good DVDSCR, has some text at the bottom, "This SECURE SCREENER is on loan for viewing by you, the member, it is DIGITALLY WATERMARKED." which is very small and in no way a distraction.

I just got finished watching the movie and I have to say that it was excellent. I didn't really know what to expect, but it was a really good movie. I highly recommend it. Movie looks good on the tv. And sounds great through the stereo.

I just realized that I got the "PROPER" release from IMBT, not this one, and it was just fine. I honestly noticed nothing wrong with it.

Get I.Am.Legend.DVDSCR.DVDR-TGP It has 5.1 Audio

Posted by bottles on 12-21-2007 10:34 PM:

I haven't seen the other releases..but seriously.. you must all be watching through some fucked up glasses to be giving the ratings you are, or maybe the other releases were all so shit... Video on this release is jerky (due to dupe frames I assume) and whatever they have done to fix, hasn't worked very well. A shame as the quality of frame is good, but real time viewing not so much. For a DVD screener pretty poor

The whole point of the xvid codec is low bandwidth 1.35GB vs 4.35GB if that didn't matter then everyone would download the DVDR

Wow. Great release. The screener is almost regular DVD quality (some minor compression artefacts in dark scenes and only a tiny screener still text 3 times during the movie). And this so close after US theatrical release.

V - 8 DVD screener. Great quality. No B/W scenes. No scrolling text. Ssome minor compression artefacts are the only tiny downside
A - 9 brilliant quality
M - 7 I loved the pictures of deserted new york. looked all really cool. decent story and plot but good acting by smith imo

Edit: Whilst thinking about what i watched last night, I feel like they almost ran out of money and had to rush the ending in. Only plus side, Smith gives a good performance.

v:9 - in fact, probably as good as you can get for a single disk... very small 'warning' appeared periodically at the bottom. I've heard this was still slightly cropped, but in fact it was excellent, cropped or not.
a:10 - perfect. I used headphones but it was the best I've heard for a single disk.
m:8.5 Well, it was the second remake of the film (the first was Omega Man, and the original was Last Man on Earth). They were all slightly different and all differed from the book but this film, particularly the first 3/4, was excellent.

Book is better, fuck this movie and fuck hollywood for churning out more shit. I prefer Charlton Hestons Omega Man to this crap. Biggest gripe; no vampires. The infected looked like raging chemo patients and to make things worse, they were all CGI.

Watched last night on standalone.

Video: 7.5 - jerky playback on pan shots and blockyness evident.

Sound: 9 - no probs here

Movie: 6 - disappointing given the hollywood hype and a very rushed feel to the ending.

No, it's not much about bandwidth it's more about the size of the disc.

That is why they are called 1 CD, 2 CD relaese etc.

around 4.4 GB is 1 DVD disc, around 9 GB dual layer etc

Posted by Jassll on 12-22-2007 09:43 PM:

Video - 8/10 - great copy especially since it just came out in theatres, a small message only pops up like three times throughout the film and isn't very noticable.
Audio - 9/10
Movie - 5/10 - it was pretty good but I don't think I'd watch it again.

Great Release!
Bad movie.
Speaking as Resident Yankee Negro,,,,,Smith had got to go with these*I'll save the world* flicks and his corny lines. Hollywood writers NEED to STAY on strike if this is all they can come up with lately...remakes, and prequels to sequels.

Think I'll go dig up Chuck Heston's Omega Man,,,,,,,

Movie was ok but was expecting more after the great trailers. Audio was fine on my surround sound but the picture was really blocky in some of the darker scenes on my 50 inch plasma. However since this movie is not released here until Jan 3rd it was overall pretty good. Can't complain.

Video - 8/10 - A small message pops up three or four times throughout the film on the bottom of the letterbox - very small, hardly noticeable. A little pixelated in the darker scenes.

Audio - 9/10 - Very crisp and clear.

Movie - 6/10 - Not as good as I had expected with all the pre-release hype. Not one of Smith's better movies, either. Good plot line, but it lost steam during filming. Nice addition to library, however.

Posted by doob3r on 12-26-2007 12:46 AM:

Good release

ok, just want to clear this up... people talking about 'duped frames', or 'jerky video', and crap like that, obviously have hardware/software issues.
This is a great release. Unfortuately movie didn't live up to the hype for me, but that's just my opinion. If you want to watch this movie, this is the release to get.

This was overcropped in some spots to hide the watermark but at least is in Sync. Watch the whole movie and you will see where it falls OOS on the first release about 87 minutes in. The end of the kitchen scene and well after about 6 minutes it was "trash food"

I watched this great film and dang this is another contender for many an oscar!
