...cant help thinking that they shoulda said a big F*CK YOU to the 'rules' and pulled a brutus by putting this on 2 cds, with a decent resolution and some nice ac3...

its good qual for a 1 cd rip. Dont know why they didnt do a 2 cd rip though. maybe they thought the movie doesnt deserve 2 cd's lol.

Good enough quality vid/sound for me, saw it first time round but still enjoyable enough as remakes go :-)

Yes, this would probably be their "reasoning". Even @ the faster PAL fps the movie is approx. 108 minutes (113 - (113x0.042) = 'bout 108) and seeing as the rules say a minimum of 105 min's per CD... come on.

KJS gives Sideways 2 CD's (which is lacking action and was quite compressible anyway), yet they give an action movie 1CD? Not right man. May as well give all the movies 1CD if you're not going to be fussed sticking to common guidelines of encoding. I would much rather groups push the limits and give 2 CD's for every movie if it's bordering on 105 min's for a CD, but that's just me

Anyhow, gonna rip it to 2-3CD/XviD/DTS

edit - oh, scratch what I said. This movie is really quite compressible. Must be attributed to the [d]dark[/b] night scenes quite dark day scenes (because of mostly sandstorms an alike).

Comp. test returning like 80% for a full-anamorphic (720x432 with DAR of 2.35 => 1016x432), for 2 CD's, with a bitrate of 1359 Kbps (2 b-frames). With DTS included (still 2 CD's) it's still returning a decent 60.9%
