don't think you'll get one that plays EVERY format available, but if you just need basic dvd+-r, (s,k,x)vcd, divx, mp3, cd then you should try walmart.

phillips DVP5140/37 costs about $55, and its progressive scan. only thing it won't really do it upconvert movies to anything higher than your 480p.

if money is no option, you're better off ordering from an online firm, but do your research at videohelp.com, their dvd player list is pretty exhaustive, telling you what each player will and wont do, and normally where to buy them.

I have a magnavox divx player and it plays every burned movie I do , but the audio goes silent on some when you put 2 titles on the disc? weird all I do is hit pause then play and the audio comes back on , my liteon dvd recorder plays every thing ive ever thrown at it , most of my friends that have those dirt cheap apex players also say they play damn near anything...

I bought a JVC which not only plays 1080i, but will play all formats. I bought it at Best Buy. Enjoy Ya'll
