*From Sample*

Not sure why they chose a scene at dawn to sample.Could be to hide the flashing i can see traces of.Also see a few blurs flash up accross the screen.Sound was very nice and i hope TCR are about for a while.

Posted by bryehn on 08-20-2003 05:31 PM:

this ish is too good for a new group. wonder who TCR really is?!??!?

anyways...was waiting for this one...hate costner, but westerns don't take $100 mill to make...so it might not suck too bad.

sample is fantastic, couldn't ask for anything more, besides a little brightness. this will most likely be the only one i get, unless there's a glaring flaw i don't know about yet...will edit in 24-48 hours when i've got and watched this 3 disc beast in full...

sample: 7/8/9.87

:::EDIT

took me a while to watch that one, noone would watch the costner western with me :P but, gawddamn!!! that was one hell of a movie...might actually buy this one, and i buy maybe 5-10 a year...

Posted by Neversoft on 08-20-2003 06:31 PM:

7thEye: I think you missunderstood, bryehn wasn't saying it had a $100m budget (although he didn't word it very well) he was implying that the smaller budget makes directors put more effort in, I think... You should calm down with the flames before you're as popular as a wet fart in a diving suit, or banned

As for the movie - as usual I'm judging on the first 5mins of the first CD, not the sample... It's slightly cropped and angled, but the colour and clarity is excellent. I didn't notice any flickering and the audio is spot-on.

This and FvJ have been an awesome debut for TCR, lets hope it continues... 7/8/? (I may edit my score after watching the movie, as I'm watching it tonight)

chill out man he was referring to costner's last few (crap) movies i believe (waterworld, the postman) which had over 100 million dollar budgets (waterworld anyway) - and using my brain i figured out that dude was being sarcastic ? saying that since it isn't high budget so it may be all right ? is this starting to make sense to u?

I give TCR so many props for the fast work and great quality. this release rocks. My only problem with them is they are not smart. The theater dots are in this movie aswell. I hope they would get smart and scene search and use a tool to blur the dots out. I would hate to see this group die because of something that can be easily fixed.

video is a little dark in some scenes and has a flicker on my bigscreen.
audio is excelent.

movie is great for many reasons and i know my father will love this movie.

Keep up the good work TCR juat get rid of the dots or trust me when i till you feds or some type of lawenforcement will be looking into your'e theater.

very impressive release
good sound even better picture
7/6

dont expect a ctp release of this movie or any movie for along time
as alot of ppl now know ctp only release asian silvers like they have been doing since 06/17/2001 TELESYNC Evolution *Subbed*
and as you would know if u followed the scene since then, the asians only put out their best work during the block buster seasons and now this summers block buster season is officially over ,with the exception of 'the medallion' jackie chan

you wont see ctp release anymore telesyncs untill around lord rings 3 / matrix revolutions time...

Exactly. Please dont risk loosing a supplier over some dots on the screen. RESPECT your suppliers, because without them, you dont have a group! Blurring them or removing them would be quite hard and take some time and patience on a 2 hours + movie, but you might want to think about doing something about that or else it will bite you guys in the ass in the long run for sure.

All I have to say about this release is 'About fucking time'. Its about fucking time we had a respectable group who is fast, first and with excellent quality. Not always the first release of a movie for a TS is watchable, but you guys do a great job so keep up the work.

One question about this group that ive been wodnering about for a bit now is, are you guys really TcS but changed your name to TCR for TS movies, or are you not in any way affliated with TcS. The only reason I ask is your NFO file looks very similar to TcS.

Oh well, keep on rolling out these releases, now im waiting for 'Uptown Girls'.

8/7?

Posted by EmPreSS on 08-21-2003 04:19 AM:

Yes, this is a very nice TS. Nice speed, too. Earlier in the summer when Ctp was putting out great releases I just waited on them to put out the big movies or others I wished to see. Now, Ctp has fallen off dramaticly in both quality and speed...and just plain "anything". They haven't put a movie out in such a long time and their last 2 releases were not very good at all (Tomb Raider 2 and Bad Boys 2). I wish TCR would find a way to go back and release an excellent version of Bad Boys 2, because that movie, next to Open Range was my favorite of the summer.

Great work TCR on a great movie! Kevin Costner shows us once again that he is a top-notch director! Hey, I know The Postman was a flop... but I still liked that movie very much anyway.

Keep 'em coming TCR! I hope you stay around for awhile...

video - they cut the sides to increase picture height - not bad pic is crisp
audio - into 4minutes of it there is one loud scrape noise - intermittantly through the movie the audio spazzs for a split second
so far i have watched 32minutes and it isnt wat i thought it would be - ilove kevin costner dont get me wrong - but this pic seems...boring

Posted by JiggaLigga on 08-21-2003 06:37 AM:

This has to do with the mysterious dots, however, my theater which plays freddy vs jason has those dots in both prints, same spots seen. The dots just might be there because of a factory glitch of some sort, i wouldn't call it a security thing at all. Just thought I'd share.

Posted by Whizzo on 08-21-2003 07:49 AM:

Ok just finished watching movie. Kostner is just as good a director as he is an actor. Reminded me of Dances With Wolves in some scenes, one of my all time favorite flix..I Like the personal and proverbial points made in some parts of this movie too..

(Not recommended for 5-15yr olds tho ) I mean honestly could any of u possibly imagine a 13yr old sitting thru all of this and actually enjoying it?

Gonna change my audio rating from earlier to 8..

Again, TCR j00 pwnzorz (least for now hehe)..Great release

Is it just me or do the discs NOT follow on?
Seems to be missing some scenes disc 1 does not follow onto disc 2 and the same for 2 onto 3 . Is it just me?

Quality was good but are we missing scenes if so how much?

Posted by Cineman on 08-21-2003 12:30 PM:

I'm thinking the same thing. As cd1 ends Costner and Duvall ride off in daylight and scene freezes (end of cd1). CD2 begins at night with guys at camp fire like they're going to sleep. CD2 freezes (ends) with Costner and Duvall in candy store. CD3 begins with Costner talking to woman at some other location.

Posted by letsgoin on 08-21-2003 05:53 PM:

We are Missing Scenes. As to what I am not sure.
I do know however that CD3 has the last 3 minites of CD2. As for the part between the end of part 1 to the start of part 2 is unclear. I thought maybe I was the only one that had that problem and maybe it was 2 different releases. Glad I checked. Anyone else have any comment to this?

Posted by younpadawan1 on 08-21-2003 11:22 PM:

There is indeed a big chunk missing between cd1 and cd2 (there is a large overlap between cd2 and cd3 but nothing missing there)-shame because this was a nice release-good picture and sound. A repack is needed to sort it out *hint* *hint*

Posted by psyche on 08-21-2003 11:36 PM:

TCR is no one new, they're TCS's telesync division. Very good release for a silver source, similar to the past few. Heavily cropped but no need for another version, 8/8/6

Posted by ewfbootlegga on 08-22-2003 12:34 AM:

Seems like a little bit is missing from this movie and they overlapped the 3rd disk to compensate for the missing runtime. Get it together guys but thanks for the release anyways.

8/8/? (I haven't watched the whole thing through yet).

Posted by Whizzo on 08-22-2003 01:31 AM:

Lol too good of a release to be true eh?. Just had to be sumthing wrong with it

Well i was able to piece dialogue and scenes together enuff to understand what was goin on from CD 1's ending to CD 2's start and thereafter..

And that was b4 i even knew it was missing anything anyways lol. Sometimes u just have to improvise a lil..

No biggie tho, im sure they will do a repack, or someone else will do a proper, but i dunno if a proper by another crew will look anything like this one does where quality is concerned. So a repack would be the thing to do..

And if not, still nothing to fret. I always watch Rip/Screeners of the same movie again once its released, after the seeing the TS, just so i can see the movie in all its glory.

Posted by Infinity on 08-22-2003 11:19 PM:

Great quality, especially for the first release. Usually we have to wait for 2 or 3 releases to get decent quality. Too bad about the missing scene between disc 1 and 2. 8/7/9

Don't think TCR is Centropy because...

Hi -

I don't think Centropy would make the mistake of releasing a title with missing scene(s). If they did somehow, I'd assume they'd do a repost in short order. But that's just my 2 cents.

TCR Releases

I see everybody typing how good the quality of this Open Range is and I totally agree. The only thing that I'm stumped on is how to burn this bad boy off onto CD so I can watch it in the DVD player. I have two releases by TCR, Freddy Vs. Jason and Open Range and I can't burn off either one. I'm using Nero Burning Rom Version 6.0 Any tips?

Click File----> Open, then change "files of type" to All *.*. Now select the .cue file and it'll be ready to burn.

sound was good also but was a little scratchy in the voices.
movie was kinda boring to me but i'm not a big western fan.

Yeah, ctp rlsed Legally Blonde 2 on 8/10, BUT IT WASN'T A TS!!!!! Just wish people would not say ctp isn't dead on TS's that don't know shit and who simply don't know the difference between a TS and a DVD Screener. Good rls on TCR's part, bit cropped and the missing scene from cd1 to cd2 is only a minute or two, nothing significant. Overall, great rls for n00bs *sarcasm* 8/8/8

BTW, if you think ctp changed there name, etc etc, you have to be kidding me. It feels like de ja vu with all these treads when ctp stopped rlsing TS's the first time. GET OVER IT PEOPLE.

To NOVAWIRE - just select burn image from the file menu of Nero. It will prompt you to load the cue file. Recommend you use CDRWIN from Golden Hawk instead of Nero for cue & bin files.

Posted by plagueboy on 08-23-2003 07:49 PM:

Pissed off.

I dl'd this yesterday when it was listed as DVD SCR, and reading the .NFO, it says the source is DVD. Maybe they got it on a DVD from someone, but that doesn't make it a DVD Screener!

What a load of crap. I'm glad they corrected the listing here, but it's obviously a telesync, where they annoyingly cropped off the sides. They apparently took their time and did a decent job, but as said before there are a few flaws on the screen (that do not move), and the sound crackles when it spikes (obviously miced instead of line in).

This movie could have been shorter, if costner knew how to edit.

7/7/7.

Posted by starwars22 on 08-24-2003 10:59 PM:

watched this last night, video quality is very good and clear, color tint changes a few times during the movie, audio is good and understandable the only problem I heard was when someone first says a word loud the sound will sound scratchy almost like their barking but only for the first word of the sentence the rest is very clear. the scene missing between disk 1 and 2 doesnt seem like anything major is lost because I easily knew what was going on right away.

I haven't seen a release that's looked this nice in a while. The detail was so crisp on the TV. I haven't watched the whole thing, seems to have a slow start.

Audio is beautiful as well

I just don't like full screen or *near* full screen. Don't crop my edges. Which is overriden by - beggars can't be choosers. F-me for bitchin'.

Beautiful release. Hope movie is as good as MS says.

Just finished the watching this release.
The movie itself isn't that bad, a little slow. Not as much excitement as say Tombstone, or Wyatt Earp, but none the less a good western. T
he movie focuses more on the relationship of the 4 freerangers than on shoot outs. The bad guys are typical for a western, a rich rancher who wants to control all the cows and land, he owns the law, and people don't fight against him, fearing retaliation.
As far as quality goes:
video is very clear, there are a few sceens that the color lightens and darks and looses tone, but nothing that is too distracting. The film is cropped on the sides, you can tell because the words at the beginning are only about 3/4 visable. the only problem i had was the change from cd 1 to cd 2, it seemed to me that there was some missing, and then from cd 2 to 3 there was about 2.5 minutes of cd 2 at the beginning of cd 3.
The audio was a little low, I watched it on a home DVD player and had to turn up my volume on my tv to 17. Most recent releases' audio was loud enough that I would set the volume on my tv to 10. Other than being low, it was very clear. No real loud hisses or cracks, pops, ect.
So my rating for Open Range are as follows:
Video: 7.5
Audio: 8
Overall Movie: 7
