-- Review: The Lord of the Rings : The Two Towers (2002) (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=10846)
Yes this is it, Official Lord of the Rings 2:The Two Towers Movie Review
Read No further:
As much I wanted to wait for this to post, I said heck, here it is.
Director Peter Jackson brings his second of his epic trilogy to the big screen as Lord of the Rings:The Two Towers is errected for all to see.
The continuing adventure follows Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and the fellowship as they destroyed theone Ring and stand against the evil of the Dark Lord Sauron (Christopher Lee).
The Fellowship has gone on differnt paths as they all strive to defeart Sauron and his allies.
Their fates lie at the two towers Orthanc Tower in Isengard, where the corrupted wizard Saruman awaits and Sauron's fortress at Barad-dur where the battle of good and evil reaches definite epic proportions.
Like the first film, The Two Tower is long and yes, the ending is like the first, you have another year to wait for Part 3.
At time I saw this, there was no official rating, but the violence and special effects are still the same as The Fellowship of The Ring.
Oscar wise, this film should generate some oscar buzz, but not as much as the original.
My rating: 9.5 out of 10. Enjoy.
Release Date (Theatres) December 18th.

MG. You are a scholar. A Gentleman. A true craftsman.
Thankyou.
Finally, thank you MG! I have been waiting forever for this. Can't wait till this comes out. I just hope that a pre doesn't come out so that I am tempted to watch it before opening day on the Big Screen. But a DVD-screener after opening day would be much appreciated

Christopher Lee is Saruman, not Sauron
Holy shit dude!? How in the hell did you get to see that already!? I did however notice that Harry over at AICN had seen it already also, so they just must of kept those critic screenings quiet.
In any case, when'd ya see it dude!? And thanx for the review, I knew this would be great!

So that's a review? Erm.... Right. Okay... *cough*
Thanks for the great review MG! I am definitely going to be at the theatre waiting for them to unlock the door on December 18th. Then (If all goes according to plan) I can come back to my home and settle in and view the DVD screener which has been neatly prepared for me to view at my leisure
. Thanks again MG!
(P.S. Just for the sake of it how did the Ents look?
)
ocyurus dude i seen the ents in the preview and they look exactly how i imagined. hahah its kinda funny seeing the ent holding the hobbits.
You mean the preview they played in theatres at the end of the Fellowship? I couldn't make it back again for it but I did download it, was really blocky and hard to see, I think I did catch a quick glimpse of and ents eye but I didn't notice a full shot. And in the new trailer I was able to spot pippin get picked up by an Ent who only the legs are shown of. If for no other reason than seeing Treebeard I know I am going to like the Two Towers (Oh and seeing Gandalf the White will be cool too)
dude not only that but i wanna see what shelob looks like.
Yeah, it would be cool to see what the ents look like, but I can't wait to see the battle at Helm's Deep. That scene is going to rock big time.

dude are u serious?? man thats kinda sux, but i still think this movie will be EXCELLENT.
juzus christ people ,, somebody should install a hidden camera on moviegod!
get somebody close to him and try to make them install it,
that way at least we would be watching a TTT now,,

Hello,
newbie here.
I am beyond being a fan of the trilogy.
For me nothing will match the Eowyns' fight in ROTK, then Gandalf and Aragorns charge in ROTK.
If Peter Jackson has stuck closely to the book again TTT will be amazing.
i think he did a pretty good job on FOTR so i really do think that TTT will be F*cking krayzie.
Quick Poll
My dad first read it to my brother, my sister and myself when I was 5.
At what age was everyone forst exposed to The Lord of The Rings trilogy?
I have read the entire trilogy every other year since I was ten.
Re: Quick Poll
Movie was great, it should get Oscar Consideration.

Yes I agree, George Lucas unfortunately had ruined his own "vision" of Episode 2, don't get me wrong, i like the movie, just the "vision" leading to the showdown of Episode 3, The Clone Wars was all wrong.

Man at least Peter Jackson can direct and make the movie good unlike George Lucas and what he did to Episode 2 man he cant direct. That proves that writers should not direct movies because they turn out like crap! :P

not to change the subject AGAIN
but Grorge luscas is cool
EP II was great!
It makes alot of money because it IS great.
Personally i dont have or have not seen the dvd, but i do have a 3 disc svcd ,however, there is no extra scene showing vader slaughtering sand people; if there was, it would have been, in my opinion, a masterpiece like EMPIRE!
eposide II did have for me a few bouts of dad directing tho, like having vader just fall asleep after his arm got sawed off LIKE IT WOULD BE THAT EASY, shock or some thing I guess, thoes two subtractions make me feel like Lucas is gearing the film a bit more than necassary to a younger audience, whick sucks.

I hear ya bro! I'm thinkin this one will either be the best one out of all, or the worst....too soon to tell.
Yea, I noticed some of um died on Geonosis, but surely there's got to be many many more than just 20 or so.
Quality of TTT?
When the movie is released, does anyone know what type of quality it will be? Like last year for the FOTR an amazing svcd verson was released...will it be the same for this year?
I ah...wtf dude, you think we got a crystal ball or somthing, heh! How would we know the quality of a release that hasn't been rls'd yet?
Oh wait....it's coming to me now! It's going to be, it's going to be.....
dude im a huge starwars fan also, but was i the only one dissapointed with EP2? i mean the last 20 minutes was cool, but thats about it.

The Two Towers of the title are Isengard (Orthanc) and either Minas Tirith (the white tower of Gondor) or Cirith Ungol, not Barad-dûr. No-one goes near Barard-dûr as it would be suicide, especially whilst carrying the ring.

I have read the books and even in the trailer Click here for The Two Towers Trailer and as far as I can see The Two Towers mainly concerns Aragorn, Pippin, Merry, Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf's adventures after the breaking of the fellowship save for Frodo and Sam's meet with Shelob (which will not be included in the movie but instead in The Return of the King). And as such it confronts the assaults of Sauron from his stronghold in Barad-dûr, and the attacks upon Rohan by Saruman from Orthanc in Isengard. Plus considering Cirith Ungol is not a tower or building for that matter but more of a passage through the mountains of shadow into Mordor, of course you may have it confused with Minas Morgul. If I am at fault on this please correct me.

Yes Peter Jackson did some weird things like kill Boromir off in Fellowship of the Ring when he is suppose to die in the first chapter of Two Towers but oh well stuff like that has to be done to make the movie good! :P

As long as I remember that is where Boromir dies in the book.Trying to save Merry & Pippen from the orcs that show up right after Boromir tries to take ring from Frodo.I don't think that part of story was changed.
It is correct that Boromir fell in the first chapter of the second book the Two Towers.
The Two Towers Book III Chapter 1, The Departure of Boromir
quote:
'The horn of Boromir!' he cried. 'He is in need!' He sprang down the steps and away, leaping down the path. 'Alas! An ill fate is on me this day, and all that I do goes amiss. Where is Sam?'
As he ran the cries came louder, but fainter now and desperately the horn was blowing. Fierce and shrill rose the yells of the Orcs, and suddenly the horn-calls ceased. Aragorn raced down the last slope, but before he could reach the hill's foot, the sounds died away; and as he turned to the left and ran towards them they retreated, until at last he could hear them no more. Drawing his bright sword and crying Elendil! Elendil! he crashed through the trees.
A mile, maybe, from Parth Galen in a little glade not far from the lake he found Boromir. He was sitting with his back to a great tree, as if he was resting. But Aragorn saw that he was pierced with many black-feathered arrows; his sword was still in his hand, but it was broken near the hilt; his horn cloven in two was at his side. Many Orcs lay slain, piled all about him and at his feet.
Aragorn knelt beside him. Boromir opened his eyes and strove to speak. At last slow words came. 'I tried to take the Ring from Frodo ' he said. 'I am sorry. I have paid.' His glance strayed to his fallen enemies; twenty at least lay there. 'They have gone: the Halflings: the Orcs have taken them. I think they are not dead. Orcs bound them.' He paused and his eyes closed wearily. After a moment he spoke again.
'Farewell, Aragorn! Go to Minas Tirith and save my people! I have failed.'
'No!' said Aragorn, taking his hand and kissing his brow. 'You have conquered. Few have gained such a victory. Be at peace! Minas Tirith shall not fall!'
I think the point was that the poster said he was killed off early in movie .To me it seemed like where it was suppose to happen. What they didn't do was follow the time line of the movie as it relates to the books. They left to much out of Fellowship (Tom Bombadil) and changed story completely for Arwen (Liv Tyler)which has no basis in the books at all.
If i misinterpeted what poster was saying i'm sorry
.
@ Moviegod...........you lucky bugger...........seeing this movie so far ahead of us normal members........and yes I believe you when you say you are a Movie Reviewer...
Regards,
Jez
After watching the trailer repeatedly (and no I am not obessed) I would not expect anything else. And besides is there really a perfect movie out there (Deserves a 10)
I dont think that Moviegod actually views the movies personally as there had only been a single screening and a single copy of the film when this "review" was released (and that was a cast screening too"...but i doubt my opinion matters anyway.
For those who want a proper review... http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=13950
you are about to be flamed. Moviegod left because of fuckers like you.

Not much of a review.
I guess you can save this "review" for the next year and reuse it... Just replace "The Two Towers" with "The return of the king"....

if they followed the actual timeline of the books, there would be no point, it'd be uninteresting to fans...
kinda like the X-Men movie..
would you want to resee the same shit over and over... between your imagination, a book/comic, and a movie... no you'd wanna see different interpretations of it for everything you see.
Week and a Half away =-o
if a pre is coming out... should be out soon ^_^
