Kill Bill: Volume 1 *SVCD* - WORKPRINT - VideoCD

My Opinion , this copy is by far the nicest out so far. WideScreen. Sounded Excellent. Only thing that didnt make this that much nicer was the *Clear* watermark scrolling (property of). But hey i can live with it, this release will do just fine till Retail. Gj VideCD.

Love the nfo too , rofl

nuke why? it's internal and a proper.

but what I want to know is, what took them so fucking long? I woulda liked this proper last month

DEFINITELY download this copy and fuck all the rest. I saw the original shitty workprint with bad framerate, and the ONLY problem was framerate and real changes, both of which have been fixed in this release.

No framerate issues that the first workprints had and a good picture this is the best copy so far. Worth getting if you a fan of the film or haven't seen it yet but will absolutely not pay to see it at the cinemas.

Only viewed the sample but I'm getting the rest as we speak.

for a workprint remember 9/8/8.5

PS Slurman you seem to be the first person to post who actually seen this copy otherwise why no mention of framerate (Unless you didn't cath the first WP I suppose)
Bastard beat me to it.

The release pre'd days ago did it Chewsmoka? Funny, because the nfo has today as a release date.

I love know-it-alls!

Quality is nice....I saw it at the theatre and the movie kicked ass. Tried to watch the previous workprint and it's nice to have if you desperately want to see it again, but music selections were so important in this movie I think it's missing something when they are not present or are different in this workprint.

Hopefully the MPAA gets their shit in order and we get some DVD screeners.....they are talking about VHS right now. ;(

Yes, it did pre almost 2 days ago...

As for the sample, looks good quality - slight hiss when i turn up volume, but that could just be my TV.. I've not watched any other copies, been waiting on a better release..
Clear, Crisp Audio with a slight hiss as mentioned (only when loud though), Video is good..

Framerate of the original workprint that was released was hideous, looked like a very badly done pal->ntsc job! It made the fight scenes absolutely horrible. VideoCD are doing damn well of late, this is a great release, just as good audio as the prev workprint and far superior video.

Yeah i did, sample seemed slightly out of sync to me (hope the whole copy isnt :/) but, video and audio appeared to be much better than in previous releases.

Keep up the good work VideoCD.

to be honest, i don't notice much difference in vid. quality, just the fps is better. audio sounds the same as well.

Geez!!

I'm only writing this because I'm sick of reading other peoples posts who say things like "a bit washed out, sound hollow otherwise ok..." and I'm sure most of these people are judging on the jpeg and not a proper sample. I mean I've just saw the sample of this release and it is "slighty" better than the other wp's but not by much!! 1st post says best release yet?? Two words...Fuck off!! As cropped as tcr's is and although the audio is a bit muffled in places it's the best release imo because at least there is sync and it's not like looking at the picture with someone else's glasses on. So come on, who gives a flying fuck about who posts first. Just be honest and if not then that is very, very sad. I know I may get shit for this but at least I've seen this to comment. Phew, glad to get that off my chest.

um have you watch the entire movie? or atleast cd1?...this isnt cropped as tcr's! and yes this is the best copy so far!.... if you watch the entire movie u'll notice theres no reel change and the only thing is there is the watermark either than that its perfect!.....

Have same question

Sample looked pretty desynched to me

Posted by teegee420 on 10-24-2003 06:53 PM:

Thank you, VideoCD! Although the picture quality only looks marginally better than the FTV/OPIUM WP, the corrected frame rate and lack of reel changes sets this one apart from the rest. No cropping as previously stated either, though the a/v sync seems to be slightly off but nothing I can't live with. Great release, VideoCD!

Video- 8 (VHS source)
Audio- 8(slightly out of sync)
Movie- 10

Shush. TCR was a cam, you could hear people laughing. Subtitles were cropped and tilted and video was washed out. This is from a decent source tape, has a good frame rate and the lip sync is only slightly off.

In my opinion, TCR was the worse release to watch, sound put me off so much. I haven't a clue how anyone can say a cam can rival a decent, widescreen direct source.

Posted by teegee420 on 10-24-2003 08:53 PM:

Upon viewing the complete release I discovered a reel change in disc 2 just before Showdown at House of Blue Leaves. I still stand behind my ratings though.

but its all good.. i better not get banned for this, i just wanted to know who is having the best luck and with which source.

Same here, it's almost vapor. I've seen it two places or so but the lines were full.

Posted by CyanideCordial on 10-25-2003 07:26 AM:

Ya, this release took me a while to get. Had to do some requesting to find this fucker. I guess VideoCD wanted this to be really damn internal.

Top release though, but you need a good dvd player so it decodes the interlacing properly, rather than my POS that blurs the whole image when it trys to. Runs perfect with some de-interlaced featured programs, like VLC (www.videolan.org) etc.

8 - Video
8 - Audio
10 - Movie

Limited means playing in select theaters. Internal was the proper label (means suppost to be just released in the grp), ... but wasnt that hard to get, picked it up right away and seen it around on IRC an hour after released. Search Harder

Hah, yeah.. I didn't realize I was downloading the TS of it until it was like 1.14GB in.. watched it a bit.. awful audio, the screen was actually tilted, cropped to hell.. etc..

I managed to find the stripped down AVI of this, and even then, the video looks great.. if the 150-200mb AVI looks great.. wow. I'm about to download the MPEG version, but judging by the sample, I won't be disappointed.

Posted by Scorch on 10-26-2003 04:27 AM:

Finally managed to get it. This rivals DVD quality. If you ignore the watermark.. it's unbelievably perfect. 8.5 (watermark!)/10/10. Definately keeping this one until retail DVD hits.

Posted by lax01 on 10-26-2003 08:19 AM:

Yeah, I just watched the first 25 minutes and only noticed slight lip-syncs during a few scenes. Nothing major though and it doesn't distract from the film at all. The only complaint I have about the audio is that the higher frequencies are some-what distorted, but this is being highly critical. Video (besides watermark) is incredible. SVCD was warranted on this movie and it shows.

Posted by psyche on 10-26-2003 12:41 PM:

Desync bothers me even if it ranges from minor to major, dialog I can kind of withstand but sound effects like a punch, kick, door slam or explosion gets on my nerves if the sound is delayed or kicks in before it's suppose to. I'll just wait for a DVD Screener or maybe even the retail, the film rocked when I saw it in the cinema. Video quality was decent but could have been better (sometimes blurrish), and VideoCD needs some work in the audio department even though they've improved on video compared to previous releases. 7/6/10

Posted by xpitxbullx on 10-26-2003 01:17 PM:

They left a reel change on CD2 in the 'Showdown at the House of Blue Leaves' segment.

Video - 8
Audio - 7
Movie - 9

Posted by scottymac on 10-26-2003 01:25 PM:

Just watched both CDs. Did not notice any De-Synch at all.

Video is very nice. I forgot about the watermark right away. The only time the watermark was an issue was at the end of the fight scene with Oren Ishii

Audio is good. A little tinny and slightly overmodulated.

Movie is wonderful.

8.5/7/9

Bring on Vol. 2 !

HOY SHIT! This just oozed style. Smooth as hell. This movie was so fuckin cool..... i mean like "Straight up in your face im better then your movie so blow it out your ass Tarentino style" cool. Def matched up to the hype.. Im glad i waited for a better release to watch it too. the vid quality was top notch, other then the camera quality changing due to it being unfinished i guess..(?) Watermark was no nuissance cuz it didn't move at all. Audio went out of sync sometimes, especially at the beginning of the flick, but for the most part it was pretty good, lil distorted tho...

this is a great release all around. videocd, u made my sunday night bloody good fun. props

I watched first half on both BSPlayer and Windows Media Player and the sound is way out of sync. Can't understand why some of us have sync problems and others don't. I mounted the image with Daemon tools and played it from there. So far out of sync as to be unwatchable.

Posted by NFDfireMedic on 10-29-2003 05:10 PM:

Decent quality, very watchable on a TV, movie itself is pretty good too from what I've seen (about half)

7/7/7

Posted by Sadako on 10-30-2003 04:59 PM:

Excellent quality workprint - the transparent watermark isn't too intrusive (far better than a scroller IMO) and lip-sync is hardly noticable when played on my standalone

The movie itself is truly excellent - that girl from BATTLE ROYALE really kicks ass!
