thank you videocd

7.8/8.5/?

7/7/7 sevens all around. Quality is average for a videocd release. The movie isn't that bad but the acting is hilariously bad. (that excludes Danny Glover)

the release is very nice little washed out on the colour side other than that its fantastic gr8 job videocd! Also my source i didnt get any dodgy files ppl extracted fine for me both cds

8.5/9/9

Get the rar fix from AHAB. Cd1.rar.49 replaced and its fine

I loved this film. I saw it in the theatres as well as the cam...definitely sweet to have an SVCD TS of this film...I loved the ending. If u liked Seven than this film is for you. Oh and for those of u wondering why its so dark at the beginning. Starts out the same way at the theatres...Rock on VideoCD!!

One question though, at very end of CD2 after the killer is revealed and it flashes to a clock. There is no more sound on my copy anyone else have this problem.. Coulda been a bad burn i guess.HMM

IT's definitely missing and should be NUKED..and Repacked..the Ending is the very best part. Just my opinion. Calm down, but any other group woulda been NUKED!!

If CD2 won't unrar then you got a problem at your end m8 its only CD1 that had a problem, apart from the apparent missing ending ???

I love twist

I know i am new here but why do you guys post when u only seen the sample? kinda stupid watch the damn full thing before posting already.. 60% of the post are you guys rating the movie by the sample wtf?= it isnt helpful i can see the damn sample myself i come here to see the rating on the whole movie

[EDIT:: Then you came to the wrong site!! This is VCD >>QUALITY<< so rating on the "Quality" based on the sample is perfectly ok. If you want movie reviews, go to iMDB - Neversoft]

Posted by [SR] on 11-03-2004 09:37 AM:

Also just as the killer is revealed at the end the sound cuts out. No big deal tho cant see much missing there.

Overall nothing spectacular, very dark in the dark scenes might need a dvd and a perfectly black room to watch this in.

no doubt in that dept. the end was the very best part..and to lose that much of the sound of the ending..really ruined the effect...I was giving this copy full credit and high hopes..but after getting to the end just to see that much audio missing..

Maaaaaaaan! Nuke it please..they should remove it or repack cd2 really

7 video is average not to their normal standards
7 audio on cd1 and a 3 for cd2 loses 4 points just for audio issues..
9 movie was great..hands down one of the best movies.

Not sure if they're the same, didn't bother to grab the CAM 'cause it was rumored to have like almost a half hour missing from the film. Not sure on the rest of the movie, sample is pretty good ... but it's missing the ending which sucks ... I guess I'll wait for the repack to watch the last 1.5 minutes

I just wanted to confirm that I viewed CD2 using VLC and it showed the sound ending at 1:12:22 and the screen goes black at the end of the movie at 1:14:04. The credits start to roll about 10 sec. later. IMO it has no sound for aprox. 42 sec. at the end of the movie, but I'm still not to sure how much that matters. If anyone can enlighten me as to if in the last 42 sec. of the movie where there is no sound something important to the storyline happens please comment.

Posted by Roger on 11-03-2004 04:10 PM:

what you miss is about this

- NOW YOU ENJOY LIFE ( FROM KILLER )

- NO NO NO PLEASE NO NO ( FROM ADAM )

- GAME OVER ( FROM KILLER )

then music, then roll up with ending credits.

its not exact but its in big word what it is

I already saw the cam of this (MOViE I believe?) so I'm not going to bother getting this one, but I can tell you that the cam is exactly the same as the one being played in theatres in the U.S. right now. I imagine since this came out so late that the source is in the U.S., so it's likely that both versions are the same. But all I can say for sure is cam = U.S. theatrical version

POSSIBLE SPOILERS i guess...

my friend watched the CAM when it first came out, and i watched it at the theatre opening night.

in the theatre when the doctor goes to saw his foot off, we see him make 2 or 3 passes of the blade, as his skin starts to cut and bleed. the camera then cuts out to show the doctor's upper body, with his arm furiously going back and forth as he's screaming. my friend told me in the CAM, that you see the blade go in at least an inch and almost to bone before it cuts out.

and seeing as how the cam came out like 3 weeks before us theatres, i would assume it'd be the uncut UK version. wether or not it's missing scenes/incomplete is another story, but i be it's uncut.

oh, and yes i did get the sample of this movie, so that this post is following the rules heh.

From sample - 8 / 8 / 10 . This is 1 film there is no point ever watching again if you have sen it.Fantastic ending !

Posted by resetman on 11-03-2004 10:33 PM:

ok so this is nuked for missing what you say is a minute and a half of audio at the end.....well according to what i have it is missing exactly 36 seconds of audio and that does include the 4 seconds of credits at the end......getting a little piciyune are we
over all video quality is good worth at least a 7.5
audio quality is at least an 8
as for movie when i find time to actually sit down and watch it i will maybe give a rating on it
all i can say is at least it isn't a came with people screaming or coughing or talking through the movie

Posted by ThePredator on 11-03-2004 10:47 PM:

Some people are adding the CAM-MOViE Ending to make it ok i suppose thats a idea

Posted by vip3r on 11-04-2004 02:15 AM:

Release isn't bad..i don't agree with all the ratings here though. The movie had a lot of potential..the acting was kinda crappy, movie wasn't the least bit scary, and it took place in about one spot the entire movie .. (almost like Phone Booth, but not as good). Quality on this is pretty good, not VideoCD's best..but surely better than the previous release (cam) which was quite good if i may say so myself.

7.5/7.5/7

Posted by Q B on 11-04-2004 04:05 AM:

ok I apologize for my previous post about why post only on samples i just think it is unecessary but that is my opionin, and yes for the review of the actual movie i do go to imdb i was just trying to make a point that a sample is nothing to rate it by because anything (like 2 hrs) that isnt from the sample can happen, like camera adjustment sound problem glitch or whatever anyway whatever i am just a dumb newb on here

[EDIT:: I agree to a point, but those mistakes like that are pointed out quickly enough anyway (normally 3 or 4 hours after being listed) when the first lot of movie addicts have seen the full release. Commenting on the samples gets info regarding the picture/audio on here quicker. I hope that clarifies things a bit better - Neversoft]

Posted by buttmonkey on 11-04-2004 04:47 AM:

Thanks videocd for the release. Just got through watching it all. Movie is real dark in spots. Acting wasn't that great but the story was really cool....with that twist at the end that everybody likes(thats all I am going to say)

Video 7 (not videocd's best effort)
Audio 9
Movie 8 (worth watching)

last 30 secs or so theres no sound but it doesn't ruin the movie!!

Posted by The-13-Monkey on 11-04-2004 06:27 AM:

FYI: A proper is out by SG-18 NOW but currently NUKED on most sites...
NUKED: Saw.SVCD.PROPER.TELESYNC-SG18
Reason: re-encode.of.VideoCD..

Only problem is if U download the last .rar file and rename the extension to .mpg the whole ending screams and dialogue is all there. If this was a simple re-encode then the audio would still be missing correct??

Based on Sample and Final Rar:

7.5/8/9

Please feel free to edit this post or move it, but i felt it was appropriate to this much debated topic about the NUKED VideoCD release

NUKED or NOT it has the ending so I've got mine

Posted by jwrobo on 11-04-2004 11:29 AM:

30 seconds is all thats missing and it doesn't spoil the film. Usual good picture & audio from videocd, especially as its a dark film.

7.5/8/7

Posted by o0RaidR0o on 11-04-2004 02:48 PM:

Ok I applaud VideoCD and there work, however since this release is PAL I haveta convert it to NTSC, no problem there usually, I say usually, because if you notice there is cliche in the sound a kinda popping, in the scene when the girl with the jaw trap is standing over the other victim who has the key in his stomach.

By itself this wouldn't be a problem, however when I try to re-encode to NTSC that very cliche freezes the vid at that point.

I usually can take cd1&cd2 re-encode using KVCD templates through TMPGEnc and make a single cd without any real loss and watch on my home theatre.

But I can't even do a regular pal2ntsc.

Has anyone gotten a chance to review the sg18 release yet?

PEACE!

SG18 release is stolen from videocd with audio ending fix

Posted by Schmiggy JK23 on 11-04-2004 06:27 PM:

Any one know the time stamp to insert the fixed audio/video into the original mpg?

Trying not to spoil too much of the movie at the end when i fix it, before i watch it.

1:14:14 is the run time of disc 2. The new data is 1:20 long.

at what point do in set tmpgenc to do the merge and cut of the main video, to insert the new data?

at 1:12:54 ?

Shouldnt they have repacked this? Im no super wize at encoding, but im sure people would have a hard time doing a real fix of this.

I know this is really random, but if you listen closely, you can hear talking and a baby crying at 25:37 on CD2. I was watching this on pc and had headphones plugged in so i could turn it up nice and loud. At that point i thought i heard talking so i paused it to see if it was people outside (its 1.30am at this time) and there wasnt.. so i resumed and could hear the voices again. so i turned it up a bit louder and noticed it was on the video. Couldnt hear what was being said or anything, but eh. Just a little thing i thought i'd point out :P

Video 7
Audio 7
Movie 8

I thought the movie was pretty good!

My copy was missing nearly 40 minutes of audio on cd2. No CRC errors on cd1 though. Just me or anyone else?

Posted by theinitialj on 11-06-2004 04:43 PM:

Bad Release this time Videocd. Error on Cd1, Missing sound at end. I finally got all the pieces together but could have done it wrong who knows?

Took me forever but I extracted the mpg out of cd2, actually got the ending put on at the right part after seeing the end of the movie like 50 times. When it was all together I couldn't burn it at all. It was not svcd format in nero. Took 3 hours to convert to svcd and then it wouldn't fit on the disk. No program would read the mpg I had.

I Finally found a program that fixed this and put it into a bin. After I'd say at least 12 hours of messing around I was actually able to burn this. It turned out like shit. Played fine on the pc before I burned, but when I played on my dvd it was all scratchy noises really blocky picture, kept freezing. The only thing I can compare this to is watching satellite in a terrible storm before the pic cuts out totally.

After all was said and done I was pretty pissed but then decided to get the sg18 version. I got it in less then 2 hours burned it and it was fine.

Rating for Videocd, Video 7.5 once you fix the problem with cd1. Audio 5. Missing audio is to important no matter how much or little it may be especially at the end of a movie. Overall not worth getting, way to complicated for the average person. There should have been a whole repack.

As for sg18, Video 7.5, Audio 8.5. This is the release to get. Very easy just dl and burn like all the other releases. I know sg18 stole videocd's source but in this case I am truly glad they did otherwise I wouldn't have a full release of this movie on disk.
