7/5 = good on cd1 but cd2 is fucked /8

Just Watched iT Good Release But One Thing I Hated Was During Some Of The Parts Where Tom Cruise Was Talking It Would Be Playing Jazz Music And I Couldnt Here What He Was Saying Guess i'LL Have To Go See This One At Theatres

also for everyone whos rating this as good quality you need to watch the whole release first.... i mean cd2 video is fine i guess... but its unwatchable when they are talking in the cab you cant even hear them cuz of the music.....

Honestly Think This Release Needs To Be NUKED......

And There iT iS [Nuked] [Reason:] bad.audio

Posted by BLUE-NEO on 08-08-2004 07:19 AM:

Edit From Full Release. Definitely Needs a Proper or a Repack. It never phases to amaze me that the movie we've all been waiting to get a great release of is screwed up. Man the sound problems just ruined such a great picture.

9/-9/8 movie was crazy good..have to see it yourself to be the judge.

sample looks really nice, great quality like always from them, in the nfo it states thanks for the e & f subs, so im wonderin if theres subs in this and they hardcoded english ones, cause that would be great, i wouldve loved videocd if they did that for kb v2.

8.5/8.5/8.5

Posted by brr8760 on 08-08-2004 08:58 AM:

I don't care if the group is maVen or VideoCD, this kind of quality is something we should all enjoy while it lasts. I get the feeling that the story behind the scenes here is as good as these releases. One source, two distributors, and at least one party that ain't too happy with the other. As the scene turns...

((Little Black Book, released at the same time, and at the same quality? -- fine encoding work and lightning fast speed?... damn!))

EDIT: Is there an AUDIO PROBLEM with this release? There's a lot of times where the background music is drowning out the dialogue. It's waaaay too loud, and I doubt that was Mann's plan. At least I hope not.

EDIT 2: The audio is bad, it's going to be nuked and/or propered. Maybe by VideoCD??? Apparently we can scratch maVen off the "don't bother with the sample/reviews" list. What a disappointment.

Anyone notice the dual audio tracks on cd2 they overlap each other, sounds like the same audio stream playing at a diffrent time you cant hear anything they are saying on cd2 very wierd

video is a 9
audio is a 1
will wait for a repack i guess to finsh watching this movie

Yeah and cd1 also you notice it alot towards the end of cd1

Posted by TheWGP on 08-08-2004 10:25 AM:

from full release: see a small audio sync problem on cd1, maybe 20ms? IMO it's negligable and didn't affect the movie. did NOT notice problems on cd2 as the-13-monkey remarked. also no audio sync problem whatsoever that I could detect on cd2.

video is, as usual, very nice for TS.

I'm guessing they're both hardcoded on. If the release was done in Canada (French and English speaking) then I could see the point in them popping both language subs on.

ya need to watch the whole rls

at the beginning there's a whine in the audio, high pitched real annoying and the sound is real messed up in parts. maVen need to get their dts coder to check the audio after he has spliced the parts :s picture is real nice tho

Yep, just checked CD 2 over and sound is really bad, you basically have 2 soundtracks running at the same time, i.e when someone is speaking you hear them as well as get a music track

Damn, was looking forward to watching this, hopefully maVen will sort a repack out ASAP like any top group does, cheers, Rizel

Posted by magregus on 08-08-2004 02:41 PM:

just goes to show dont fuckin post a score for audio till you actually watch the fuckin release

Posted by bcool2k on 08-08-2004 02:41 PM:

Well maVen..Started out as one of the best SVCD TS i've seen, but someone goofed on the audio..CD2 Loops music in left speaker over the action that is going on.. during several scenes the wrong music is playing over the action that is actually happened.. very odd.. but should be NUKED!!!!...CD 2 Needs a Repack ..CD1 is fine.

Posted by CiASpook on 08-08-2004 03:34 PM:

There is a way to "fix" it...In audio options of your player (windvd), set it to MONO and use RIGHT channel as source. Then you can watch it. Not the same audio, but you can watch it without that annoying music.

Posted by Roger on 08-08-2004 03:38 PM:

The audio get weird arround 3 times during the movie,

When Max talk to this girl in the cab.

when while they talking to Max's mother, the jass comming back, for about 1min.

Then when Max's flip and get an accident, for about 3min, the audio is getting weird again.

In any way, this sound problem doesn't affect in any way the movie story.

but you know what ? its a bootleg ! and its free !!
Those guys put their ass on the line for you fuckers and what you able to say ? nuked nuked nuked nuked nuked lol

i really wish folks wouldnt post after only viewing the sample, how stupid do they look now!
really though, shouldnt it be made a rule that the actual movie should be watched or skipped through and not judged on a minute of sample?
8 / 1 / ?
just got imperials internal so will watch that one.

Video is great, even in the dark.

video: 8
audio: DTS 9, the way its in this movie, 4
movie: 8

Is there a SVCD release by Imperial? Keep seeing it come up, but I thought Maven had only SVCD release.

By the way is the 'alleged' audio issue just in CD2?

Yes there is. Imperial tagged it as internal though. I've got the release and the quality is average. Video is dark and grainy. Cropped to hell. Audio blows. Typical Imperial release.

It's not "alleged," it's nuke-worthy. And it's on both cd's. CD1 has scenes where the background music is so loud it drowns out the dialogue. I was able to fix it by adjusting my balance all the way to the right, but that's ridiculous. I think maVen was in such a rush to get this out there (which is cool) that they missed a pretty obvious problem, which damages their rep (which is not cool).

Man, I'm tired of these useless posts. This is vcdQUALITY. We review the QUALITY of releases. Apparently, you believe that movie critics who warn us about sucky movies, should STOP reviewing movies, and make movies themselves. Silly.

to the people bitching about people talking about the audio, STFU. This is a review thread, u review the quality of the release.

to maVen, take the time to watch ur releases. If u get beat on the release in that hour and a half or however long, uh well, u can be sure that ur release will be a quality one.

for a TS

i watched imperial release and quality is pretty good bit dark not really grainy.. slight crop not bad at all. audio has a part about 2 minutes long where it gets messed up other wise audio is fine.

maVens 9/9/9
iMPERiALs 8/6/9

Explain to me how you rate maVen's audio a 9,and CD2 is f-cked up...yet you give a 6 to iMPERIAL's with the quote from you above???? Geez...

maVens rating:

8/5/?
gets a 5 for audio 'cuz you can only listen to half the movie

UNPLUG LEFT SPEAKER

What a concept , then it sounds fine ;p ... just a bit annoying listening via 1 speaker.

I'm glad that there are some fellow members that understand that this is a video/audio review thread and that members shouldn't be judgmental about their critiques. Hence we have the choice to be critical of releases despite the fact that we are enjoying them on the behalf of some hard working crews. I'm sure a lot of their work is distributed with the mindset that it will come under scrutiny. Hence the reason why some groups bust their ass to put out the best quality work inorder to maintain a solid reputation.

At any rate, If there weren't any comments I wouldn't have had the ability to make choice of whether it would be a waste of my time. I obviously have gone off tangent here so I can't be a hypocrite about posts that don't stick to the rules.. All I have to say is thanks for the heads up about the audio.

Posted by ShinBone on 08-09-2004 01:57 AM:

Obviously there was some error with the mixing from DTS to stereo. Only the left channel seems to be afflicted with this weird sound error. If you want to fix this, you can take the audio after demuxing and duplicate the right channel over the left channel with your favorite audio editing software.

Posted by wazzers on 08-09-2004 04:17 AM:

thinking cd1 is a bit off also some of the music just dont seem to fit with whats going on but with audio resampled from the right channel its fine
still like to see a comlplete repack/propper not just cd2 though

Not bad film

8 for visual
4 for audio (used right channel muted left)
7 for film

Tom Cruise the wallhacker at the end lol

Video 8.7

Movie 7.5

Good story, kinda thought it was going this way from the beginn.
The audio on my dvd/65" tv was low w/voices but blasting sound efx. I like when they whisper in movies

Posted by jamman2000 on 10-08-2004 10:41 AM:

Lol, it cracks me up how some people just seem to want to post here for the sake of it.

People have been marking this version with audio of 8+.

On CD2 its screwed with parts of the sound playing twice and basically ruining about 30 minutes of the movie. Whilst the quality is good the audio can not be marked higher than 3 with this problem.

Get the repacked version where its fixed.

For those who want to mark the movie, please at least watch it first to save us poor buggers from downloading 1.4gb!

Video was great, even in dark scenes.
Audio was near perfect. On Surround system it had a high pitch noise, not on TV.
Movie was excellent. Good acting from Cruise.
