Question Attack site

I just tried to browse the main page and got the following warning from either Firefox or Google:

"Reported Attack Site! This web site at www.vcdquality.com has been reported as an attack site and has been blocked based on your security preferences. Attack sites try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system. Some attack sites intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners."

This should be in the "Site news" section really. I fucked up! Got all excited y'see. But I can't visit the main page without that error. It says google visited the site and spyware was installed without consent....

Posted by Avenue_1 on 10-04-2008 12:04 AM:

yea, i'm getting the same.

Just click on the ignore warning button.

Not a good day for vcdq. Visitor numbers will be hitting rock bottom.

Just had the same error here.

The worrying thing is that Google, a private company, is able to pass judgement on your browsing preferences.

Since when did Google become emperor of the Interweb.

Not just Google, Firefox also
Hopefully vcdq can do something about this?!

Posted by ntscuser on 10-04-2008 12:17 AM:

Just tried it with two different browsers (IE and AOL) and no problem here.

Was getting pop-ups for the first time in a long while but an update to my ad-blocker definitions soon stopped those.

Posted by EagleClaw on 10-04-2008 12:22 AM:

Getting the same here.

Will try updating my ad-block as well.

edit: Cleared cache and updated my ad-block and no love.

you can actually vote on any site.

so if gimp for example had 2 hours to kill.

you keep opening the site then marking it bad

the more people to do this then the results are filtered back to google and marked accordingly

so if the internet police could program a bot to do this, then it wouldn't take long for the red tag to be nailed to the website

then again, i thought 911 was an inside job.

can they do this?

Some of you could try reading what is reported rather than simply guessing and handing out bad advice.

If you have inadequate protection and choose to ignore warnings...

YOU could try wondering why the fuck google thinks its opinion is wanted. If Dutch is on GaryGlitter.com then types www.vcdquality.com in his browser, at what point did he ask google to give an opinion on his choice of site?

Sounds like a firefox issue, no doubt it's the result of
this little collaboration

Posted by wolffer69 on 10-04-2008 01:19 AM:

Me too. Same error.

Posted by olskoolfife on 10-04-2008 01:43 AM:

i am using google chrome at the moment but a few days ago i was buying something of ebay and was getting warnings when i knew it was safe.
I went into options and unticked the fucker.

Posted by nullvoiid on 10-04-2008 01:46 AM:

im thinking its the banner ad that contained the malware!? its only firefox ie seem ok, still not good though

Posted by Iammyself on 10-04-2008 01:48 AM:

this is bullshit, I agree! If I want to visit a site, i don't want any input from my browser on the matter. I don't need a Big Brother browser! Now to find a way to turn this crap off....

Google Advisement

Google has been advising me not to connect to vcdquality, because its listed as an attack site.
My Antivirus (BitDefender) has given me a virus alert (Trojan.Clicker.CM).. Just thought you guys would like to know.

Reported Attack Site!

Well said. I hadn't thought about it that way before. But they do give you a tiny link at the bottom right corner to click if you want to bypass their warning. lol.

Posted by HoldDaSalad on 10-04-2008 05:40 AM:

Well I havn't seen a Mod or any Admin post on the site today, Maybe there currently working to resolve this issue?

I was curious what you guys were talking about here's the pic message I got, I'm sure it's the same as yours.

I have to agree with Cupid

::Edit:: I've only gotten this error msg with Firefox.

I haven't tried IE, Opera isn't having a problem.

has anyone gotten any Malware from this site today?

Thats is because FF actually has good anti phishing software, there was a big virus going around that legitimate sites are being infected with. I am getting the same errors but I feel pretty safe with adblock+ script blocker, and Symantec Corporate.

Give it a few days when the bad ads are removed the warning can be appealed.

Posted by MrEMann on 10-04-2008 09:26 AM:

This error seems to be only occurring in the browsers with ABP or a variant installed (Firefox and Chrome). Most likely from an add that showed on the site, the site is clean and we will do what we can to eliminate the problem, but until then, just ignore the error.

EDIT: merged the multiple threads about this into one.

It's form an option you have selected in Firefox that uses a google database of sites that have been reported for malware.

You can remove this check by:

Tools -> Options -> Security

Tell me if the site I'm visiting is a suspected attack site
Tell me if the site I'm visiting is a suspected forgery

Those two options can cause this. So those complaining google or firefox can control your browsing, it's definitely upon your choice of options in the browser that depends on this.

Posted by yoshy on 10-04-2008 10:11 AM:

good to see positive action

fuckin google

its your best friend and can be the mother of all pains in the arse

lets all contact google and request it be removed

how many members have we got here?

bombard them with emails and i think they would remove it from the list

yes? no?

This site may harm your computer

Google search for vcd quality reveals a warning in the google results. This site may harm your computer, and then under detaled results:

What happened when Google visited this site?

Of the 2 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 1 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 10/03/2008, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 10/03/2008.

Whats up with that.

Posted by ScHiZi on 10-04-2008 11:30 AM:

Saw this too, I was like WTF.

My scans never found anything on this site, I think Google is to strict.

Does no one read the actual reason posted by google why this was blocked??? and it's been posted several fuckin times!!! Nothing to do with anyone reporting this site

In Firefox..

Tools - Options - Security - Change the setting that says something about attack sites.

Yep, it's not the site itself but the banner ad at the top. If you have a popup/ad blocker, make sure you use it until we can get this sorted.

Posted by Neversoft on 10-04-2008 02:17 PM:

No point in contacting Google until the offending ads are killed... This is being looked into

Posted by jfdkiller on 10-04-2008 02:29 PM:

I find the posts here really very funny.

If you don't want any attack warnings just turn off the option in security.

It's only the second time I have had a warning and it has been correct both times.

It's an option people. You are not forced to see these warnings. They are there for your benefit as well as the benefit of the community. If you are absolutely happy you are secure you may as well turn it off. If you are not then you are a mug to blindly ignore them.

I can't believe the sort of naive comments that the warning is provoking from the paranoid brigade.

FFS Neversoft get your own material. I used that disabled thing on you the other week. [o.k. yours was funnier ]

What's happening to you, between that easyjet flying over you and then recycling...some sort of homosexual breakdown?

Hang on... It's hardly original but I've used the "wand" reference on here for years. Next you'll be claiming you came up with the "Repeated anal trauma causes stupidity" which is another one I've overused on here

I get your point though, I am much funnier and original than that, I should try harder to put my genius-like talent to better use.
