Watched sample, audio is flawless. Video is damn good, best I've seen in a TC for awhile. Movie is awsome, saw it in the theaters, by far one of the best this summer.

Seems to be another rip but same source as the NBP rls.If your wanting the best get this one.Great movie.Great tc.

All my movies are burned using "PC Club" generic CD-R, and generic DVD-R disks. They are played on a AVAYON DXP1000 xvid/svcd/vcd/blah blah blah blah player...

One person said no minutes missing on this release. Can anyone confirm that?

Video is a little dark but real clean and clear. Audio is real good. Looks awesome crunched out on DVD...This is the release to get!

Video - 9; great quality, clear, good colors

Audio - 8; Good audio, only problem is there is a hissing through out, most noticable in quiet scenes.

Movie - 5; I don't know, just seemed like another movie being shelled out, nothing special in it, nothing moving or inspirational.

Besides that, great job on the release, its a keeper.

Can't complain on the rls, 9/9.

I do find it odd this group comes back after 2 months of inactivity with new contact email and using an old nfo the group had stopped using. Not to mention it's inactive SVCD/DVDR partners in NBP / Royal also sporting new contact nfo. Something strange in the wind.

GOD BLESS any group that makes non cam releases of anything that's in the theatre like back in the day ie last year. It's not the 10 bucks I would have to pay to see it, it's being able to see it without going to the theatre and having it talked over and having my chair kicked, and having to wear clothes while I watch it. In fact if it would get more releases going I would gladly send the studios 10 bucks for everyone that I dl while its still in theatres.

Perfect video with great vibrant colors and crisp clear Direct Sound. Not the best movie though.

Goofs: Continuity: While Lincoln and Jordan were running through the conditioning room (where it was pouring water) they were both wet and dirty, yet when they ran into the next room, they were perfectly dry and clean.

Sunday I went to the cinema with some friends to watch the movie, which was great fun, great over the top stuff

But then I woke up monday to find this release flying around... That's no timing guys lol :P

My sister watched this version today, I was around and just too surprised by the quality, you could fool this almost as a dvdrip. Colours are great, Pic is ultra sharp and sound is crispy clear.
Unbelievable.
Hope to see more rips like this in the future, ow yeah for the ones interested, no minutes missing at all. Complete till the finish.

The pic is just a tad dark so not the full 9.

It is a fact, that since the introduction of TELECINE releases (2002) this is the best release ever!!!

It's almost as clear as an original dvd!

Is it just me or does the video seems a bit to high? Judging from the sample, when that retard is shown what to do, it looks like they have pottato faces. After adjusting the hight with virtual dub to 252 (in stead of 272) it seems to be fine.

Nice release !

As for audio if you demux the audio with virtauldub you will get a 2 channel ac3 track at 192kbps.

Virtauldub will not create an ac3 track from a different audio format it will only demux an ac3 track if its there.

It also happens to be 2ch mono if you try using it with Dolby Prologic 1 or 2 it will lack sound on the L and R front channels and that s why.

V: 10 - Sharp pic, perfect color, very nice. Don't remember such a quality in previous TCs.
A: 8 - Some noticeable hiss at first, but I adjusted my settings and it seemed fine.
M: ? - Not watched the full movie yet

Didn't care for the movie to much, might've been because it was so long I had to piss halfway through it.

By the way, this would never pass as a DVD rip You can see the spots that come on the theatre screen.

Goofs: Somehow Jordan manages to sober up in 20 minutes from 4 shots of Whiskey.

What a great kick in the nuts, shortly after all the busts. This copy will only be exceeded in quality by adding menus (which I almost animated for the hell of it), and some bonus features.... My votes:

*edit* Kept the rating the same, just wanted to note that on my TV, I didn't notice any kind of hiss. Of course, it could be the fact that I have a stereo hooked up to my TV, and have it on "X-Bass" setting...

Movie - Wow, I didn't have to put this much work into something for it to work correctly in I don't know how long! Wish it was worth it, but this movie was kinda lacking. If you like action movies it's ok, but kinda cheezy to me. Basically, it's i,Robot meets The Matrix meets Resident Evil meets The Transporter.

great TC, few dark spots, as would be the normal, seeing the nature of Telecines and all.

Audio is very nice, seemed to be a perfect sync in the spots I checked. I didn't notice the hiss thru my pc 5.1, but will have to check on my TV 5.1

Movi was ok, I enjoyed it, kinda typical, by which I mean I figured out the whole plot in 15 minutes.

Entertaining none tha less.

Props on the best release I've seen of this. As for missing minutes, I can't say, I watched the TS all fried, so I haven't watched this release all the way thru yet, will update once I do.

v 10 (not dts, but best mono sound ive seen besides saosins old ts audio)

m 8.5-9 (excellent movie, fast paced, good storyline, really enjoyed it, might even watch again sometime...)

overall the best tc ive ever seen, and im not mentioning unleashed because that was from a foreign dvdscr, not a tc.

props to asteroids, ure release was so good that im not even gonna replace it with a dvdrip. im gonna keep this copy!

Though it hardly surprises me, yet again a group releases a hollywood movie with the speed increased so it matches 25fps. There is no reason to do that on a DivX/XviD release, period. I really don't like it when all the actors sound just a little bit like the chipmunks, since the audio's been sped up to match.

Fortunately, my AVIsynth script works like a charm at getting around that.

Anyway, the rating:


Video: 8
Crisp and sharp, but really dark in places. Face detail is lost because of this. If you're going to convert this to DVD/KVCD/whatever I highly suggest you do some preprocessing and crank up the contrast/brightness.

Audio: 9
Would be fine, but again, it's been sped up. Detail in the high ranges has been lost because of that, even if you use something like AviSynth to slow it back down. Otherwise it's great, not necessarily DVD quality but certainly hard to tell the difference. However, bonus points for makng the video and audio durations the same; if there's any startup delay on the audio it's impossible to fast-forward a movie in AviSynth without it going out of sync. That doesn't happen in this one.

Movie: 7
It had its moments, but the resolution didn't really resolve anything, and some of the plot twists were cliche and/or retarded. The movie seemed very jumbled. Action was pretty cool though.


And for anybody wanting to watch the entire film in one file at the proper framerate without having to switch files or mess with a playlist or any of that nonsense, download and install AviSynth and then do the following:

Make a file called "whatever.avs".
Open the file in notepad and paste this in:

AVISource("asteroids-the.island.cd1.avi",true)++AVISource("asteroids-the.island.cd2.avi",true)
AssumeFPS(23.976,true)

Save, close notepad. Open the file with your Media Player of choice.

Watched this a few days ago, and enjoyed this very much...

If this was fixed up correctly with chapters, menu, and DD5.1 or DTS, this could truely pass for retail DVD... I didn't see any cigarette burns or any major artifacts on this release which suprised me...
