dvd+r or dvd-r: which do you recommend?
I'm about to buy a dvd writer drive, and I don't see any reason to waste an extra $100 or so for the multi ± drive when I will probably be sticking with one format. Now I just need to decide which one is better.
I guess it comes down to which companies back + or -, price and availability.
Which do you use?
Thanks.
most +/- drives aren't $100 more expensive anymore. the pio106 is the same price as the pio105 was bar a few dollars.
personally, im - only (had the drive a while) - is cheaper and more compatable with older players, but it doesn't really matter these days.

+ just edges - for Movie Quality.
But there is nothing in it, I have had good results with both +/- in a SONY DRU500 EIDE drive in a USB2 External Caddy.
Are you trying to say that + is gives you better movie quality?
...
Are you?
i hope so, cos that'd make me laugh like the cheap whore i am.

My personal experience is..it really doesnt matter what format you pick..as long as ur standalone dvd player plays whatever one you pick...

I agree, as long as your standalone DVD Player, plays the effing things, who cares.
But YES, to answer your question I "think" R+ just edges R- for better "recordability" and "playability" but in the end it doesn't really matter- as long as it works.
On the buying front go for Dual Fuel as the format is still undecided whether it going to be R+ or R- don'y get caught out by having a Betamax only machine. (Those were the days)...
