router help...
i just bought a router to share internet between my computer and the family computer, everything is running fine, like the internet and whatnot and the actual network sharing (printers, files, etc). the only problem im having is accessing the actual router settings, i need to do this so i can open up some ports so my bt and other downloading apps run at a bearable speed. usually and in the manual it says to just type in the ip of the router in internet explorer or whatever, but whenever i do it times out no matter what the case. if it helps heres some specs:
both pc's: win98 se
router: Netgear RP614 v2
i get a 504 gateway timeout whenever attempting to access the router. thanks in advance for any help.
Try a different browser, or accessing the router from another PC that connects to it.
i ahve found sometimes the only pc that can connect to it is pc in slot 1, also i once found a router where if oyu ccessed hte router fromone coputer,it would only let you access it again from that computer until you click a logg off butten that was hidden out of my site at the time.
tried from the other computer... bah that was simple enough, should have thought of that im a moron, thanks for the help.
very welcome
