Question Encoding Question or help?

I just got the old version of the 1953 War of the Worlds and I tried encoding it with DVD Santa and Xilisoft Video Converter. Pictures comes out great but the Audio is off when I try both programs. Why does this happen and how can I fix it. It also happens with my Star Wars movie too, great picture but NO SOUND..Help

well, you mean you tried 'converting' it from DVD to 'something else' right?

So, what was the something else? DivX, XviD, SVCD, VCD or what? A little more information would help someone here help you more...

If it's XviD you want you should use Gordian Knot, or for SVCD use DVD2SVCD. Both of these applications require that you invest a little time in learning how to get the best from them - but the results are worth it. Guides for both of these can be found at http://www.doom9.org which is the internet authority on video format conversion imho.

when you say audio was off do you mean that there was a sync issue or that there was no audio at all?

if it's a sync issue you need a program like DVDLab in which you can set an audio delay.

if there's just no audio at all, it's likely a VBR MP3 issue. you'll have to demux the audio (you can use a number of programs, I usually use virtualdubmod) and convert to WAV and use that, or if too large then convert the WAV to MP2 audio using TMPG or something like that.

good luck

Why do you even reply if you're not offering anything? Throwing someone in the general direction of a help site is not much help.If you really want to be helpful spend 5 mins and give him a more specific part of the site to go to. Obviously you have been to videohelp and have a better understanding of how to navigate through the ton of information offered there.
