TMPGEnc won't read WotW?

Anybody else have this problem with the SVCD of War of the Worlds? I'm trying to convert it to NTSC so's I can watch it, but TMPGEnc won't even read Parts 1 and 2. It'll read Part 3 just fine, though.

When I load it, it appears to function normally, until I get to the last screen in the "Wizard", where you set the average bitrate.. it shows a length of 0m1s. For some reason, it seems to only recognize the very first frame of the file.

Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with Parts 1 and 2 that I can see.. they both downloaded fine, extracted fine, didn't need fixing at all.. plays just fine on my computer. They just can't be read by TMPGEnc.

Of all the stuff I've downloaded, this is the first that's had this kind of problem... any ideas? Should I try to do some kind of conversion in VDubMod first? I'd rather not send it through too many compression steps..

EDIT: I just checked on Disc 3 that I'd converted last night.. it looks fine, except for the fact that it's now ten times brighter than it should be (blacks are now around middle-gray)... I didn't realize that TMPGEnc did any brightness adjustments during conversion.. WTF? Does this film have some kind of anti-TMPG tag on it or something that fucks it up if you try to do anything with it?

i have the xvid version of 'war' using tmpg dvd source creator about an hour and 45 minutes into the convert. got some error or whatever message and the convert stopped....

so i have no idea what's happening. hmm i had to use main concept on the 'war' files and got got the elemenatry video files....

I converted the SVCD to NTSC DVD with no problem at all using TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus. All three converted just fine (CBR 5100).

If it's reading them in, in the wizard there's an option for clipping the source, I think is what it's called. you can also get to it through the 'expert settings' in the wizard. there choose frame 1 as your first frame, then move the slider to the end of the file. it shoudl say somewhere what frame you are at and enter that as the last frame.


Check that your codecs are up to date maybe, although if this is first time you've come up with this problem, that shouldn't' be the case.

try demuxing, then remuxing in tmpgenc by selecting audio mp2 and video m2v thru the wizard.

Had no probs converting NTSC DVD in Tmpgenc either. Try using mpeg tools and rewriting the header. it might be fukded up.

Converted this using TMPGenc 2.521.58.169 Core Version 1.98.152 after extracting WAV using VirtualDub in Full Processing mode. XVID codec is 1.03-20122004 with no probs, maybe use that?
