Laptop (A different one) Soldering Issue

My power supply is fucked, I know it's not the cable plugging in to the laptop as that works in a friends. The only way I can get my laptop to charge is by pushing upwards really hard on the power cable.

I figure it's a soldering issue, anyone know the cheapest way to get it fixed, or am I best attempting the operation myself?

I had the same issue, but it was on an AMD 233MHz... so when it finally died I tried to take it apart and fucked it up worse.

Wasnt' worth the cost of repairs. So I cut my losses.

is it still under warranty? what model?

Ok, I need further help on this. I finally took it apart and discovered the problem. The part the charger plugs in to has come off the board. It's not actually soldered on but appears fastened down by two legs which have broken off. So does anyone know where I can get a replacement one of these:

for a Samsung V25. Or does anyone know if they're standard among laptops?

Hard to tell from your picture, but try to get some numbers off the part. Or take it to an electronics store to match it up. Easy repair.

The part you are talking about is called a "DC Power Jack" They will also send you a bomb-ass free catalog.

I read your post again, and I will add that the two broken posts have got to be soldered to the board. Flip it over and you will see the spots. If you have enough meat left on the posts you could try to re-attach the old part. Either way you will have to clear out the old solder first with some de-soldering braid before soldering in the new posts.
