Fecked my proxy settings
I was trying to use an anonymous proxy server to access a us only site and well basically I fucked it. Now the only site I can connect to is some weird ISP's homepage.
I've removed the proxy address and tried putting in all manner of other addresses and ports but to no avail.
Can anyone point a fuckwit in the right direction to be able to surf again using ie 6?
EDIT
I've just updated to IE 7 and I can get to most websites, however, google.co.uk still connects to the unwanted site and google.com automatically becomes google.co.uk and connects to the weird site.
What are you trying to achieve? I'm not sure if you're just after a proxy to let you get at those US-only sites or if something/someone has cunted your hosts file... What the hell is a "weird site" beyond the badger raping ones that ELJ posts?
Oh, and use Firefox you twat

The weird site is only weird because i aint got a clue what its doing on my screen.

Thats the site it's brining up. But its strange, cos it seems its only when i try to get onto google. I have got around it by using
http://www.google.co.uk/webhp?ie=UT...hl=en&q=&tab=iw
which doesn't go to the weird site. but google.co.uk on its own does.
I'll look in my hosts file, but I think Hijack this checks the hosts file and that didn't find anything.
Oh and I'm glad that I had firefox on the comp because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to d/l ie 7.
Dunno why I don't use firefox as standard really but I don't so there.
EDIT
And yes - I am trying to get onto a Yank/Canuck site only. www.spiralfrog.com which is a paid for by looking at ads, legal music download site.
Spybot will also allow you to clean and protect your hosts file and any other shit that can get taken over like this... I'd also recommend Emsisoft's Hijackfree over HijackThis any day (waaaaaay better).
You might also want to go into IE's options and check if a proxy is setup... Generally speaking (for the vast majority of ISPs) it should be set to automatic. It's in Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings within IE.
But anyway, I digress... I reckon Spybot will stamp on that bastard quite quickly unless it's a full-blown malware "infection" instead of a simple web page hijack.

Fuck it. Been wasting your time apparently. Its fixed itself. Thought I'd check what was happening today and I can get to google.co.uk. Fuck knows what that was all about, but nevermind.
Cheers for your help anyway.
Darn pesky time wasters!
