DVD Quality
Hey guys
I was wondering if someone could tell me the default factory quality setting for a dvd
I think its in kbps? Also if there's any program to verify that information.
Thanks
Assuming you're talking about the DVD video bitrate in kbps, there is no "default factory setting".
The average bitrate setting depends on the length of the film and the space available on the disc (taking into account sizes of menus, extras, etc.). The actual bitrate varies throughout the video, as more complex parts of the video require more bits.
The only constraint is that any sustained bitrate "peaks" do not exceed 9800kbps for the video alone, or 10080kbps for your multiplexed stream including audio & subtitle tracks.
You can use a program called Bitrate Viewer to chart the video bitrate.

Re: DVD Quality
quote:Since we're talking about scene releases here the minimum acceptable average encode rate is 3,000Kb/s.
