Faulty

Anyone recommend a good Hard Drive Scanner?

My lappy has got some bad sectors, and whenever it tries to read/wright on that part of the HD
it Spazzes out on me.

The windows built in one ain't working for some reason..

i don't wanna recover any data, just scan and mark the bad sectors so windows don't use that part.
any ideas

If you know the manufacturer then download their tools for the drive. I'm pretty sure there will be a tool for scanning and marking the bad sectors.

I've heard a lot of good about SpinRite but I've never used it...I'm pretty sure it'll do everything you want though.

I don't think it matters much which of those versions of GetDataBack you try Arthur... Grab the portable one I guess, at least you don't need to install that (although the other says "runtime" so maybe that doesn't require installing either)
