Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas

Just sat through this film for the 1st time sober and fuck me that was some strange film.
Can anyone "who has seen it" explain it to me please

Well they took the briefcase of drugs for there trip (literally lol) and well and truly fucked up the hotel rooms, the 2nd was flooded if i remember correctly,

Johnny Depp i didn't recognise at all till the very end, they must have been on drugs making that film, will have to check the books out for sure

Isn't it all about the excess and glamour of Las Vegas which, from an outsider's perspective, is actually a pretty grim affair.

That was a VERY short summarization by the way.

This is easily one of the top 3 best movies ever made -- right up with Requiem for a Dream and Natural Born Killers.

There are a ton of "messages" in this movie but the most interesting (to me anyways) thing about it is how it portrays what happened to many many people from the hippie subculture of the late sixties as the seventies came along and the hippies were "forced into hiding" so to speak by society in general. Notice throughout the movie how every Other character (outside of Depp + Del Toro) treat and look at the two hippies as they run a muck throughout the movie.... the circus on ether part in particular is pure movie genius.

And yes... watch this while high as shit and it'll blow your freakin' mind (and i mean drop acid or do some shrooms, not smoke a joint)... my top three movies actually... all three are nearly meant to be seen while messed up.

Kickin back an old thread cause let's face it. It frickin awesome movie. But to add to all the other coments. Ya must be fucked up to fully get this movie. And not to promote drug use to much but...
We watched this back in the day and were on K which for those of you that don't know is Special K ketamine or otherwise known as Cat tranquilizer. Anywho while on this you become totally engrossed in anything you watch. Feels like your in the movie so to speak the emotions wrap you up and everything you pretty much feel like you become the characters. So to wrap it up I LIVED IT MAN lol
