Great audio.

from sample:

8/9/5

picture is a bit grainy, but not too bad. saw this movie last night in theatre. i have to say, it didnt scare me at all, and i found it to be a total ripoff of the ring. at least 5 things about it were identical, buti wont name them for spoil.

anxiously awaiting a real scare with the ring 2

Posted by Rep- on 10-29-2004 07:38 PM:

nice picture quality and audio quality. as MS said, there is definitely an angle, when you see the directed by part in the dark sample. but doesn't look noticable during the other sample, so maybe they fixed it.

8/9/x

not a bad release, video is nice full, slight angle, sound is great nice and clear and full. movie looks good as well, might wastch the full release this time

Just watched the sample as there are 2 of them. One being the regular sample and another cut from the dark sample. The picture is pretty good for a TS, slanted a bit but not too bad. The color is good, a bit bright and a bit dark at times. Audio is nice and clear.
Good job STN!

as ms said, from the dark sample, u can see by the writing on the credits that there is a big angle on it :P front row to the right camming but im very very greatful for this, just thinking about it today. little grainy, but hey, watch it on a tv and itll look noice. audio is great

7.5/8/looks a beast

waiting to see it in cinemas though

:::::edit:::::: this group name dupes a tv group called SixTeenNine hehe

:::::edit2::::: if u want to see how dark it actually gets, try .r48 on cd1, its very dark, still watchable, but things are pretty hard to make out. also .r49 and .r50 show what the angle does to the subtitles, visability wise

Posted by Debo on 10-29-2004 08:44 PM:

ya by the dark sample it looks like its got an angle problem
but its still very watchable
sound is good

ok its from the same director who made the ring. which is really called RingU in japan. He wrote and directed the japanese and american version of THE Grudge which is called Ju-On,

overall this release really isn't that bad the angle is minor you can see the constant adjusting during the beginning. but overall nice video and sound.

8/8/9 movie was really good. but overall the original is still better.

"STN" - WELCOME!!!!!!!

GREAT! A new group has entered the scene that can produce good quality telesyncs. This is like a breath of fresh air. Maybe they can take some of the pressure off VideoCD and maVen. for the past 2 months, I've been holding my breath waiting for those 2 groups to come out with ANYTHING. Never did see "Mr. 3000" from either of them, which is a definite shame. I hope that ONE of the groups (now that we have 3 "high quality" telesync ones) can put out "Ray". This is one that I am not ONLY going to see in the theater, but would like a telesync of good quality to show my mom, aunt, etc. They're used to maVen's and VideoCD's quality, and now they call me, bugging me for new releases! It's so funny to hear my family members all leaving messages, asking me what new movies I can bring for them to watch, when many of them never talked to me at ALL only a year or so ago.
As far as THIS release, I'm a quite impressed with the quality of it. Video only has a slight grainy aspect in (some) parts, but not even close to being enough to be concerned about. Audio is similar to VideoCD's and maVen's in quality (in other words FASNTASTIC). Movie itself was one that I liked a LOT, even though everybody at my job downed it. Screw'em. I look forward to more releases by STN. Keep up the good work, fellas......

yeah you right...well lets see Takashi Shimizu wrote The Grudge and The Grudge 2...2000

and Hideo Nakata wrote Ringu and Ringu 2. in which Ringu came out in 1998.

so I guess my foots in my mouth, but it might be some resemblence since The Ring did come out first.

Nice Release! 7/8/6, agreeably a bit dark in spots but more than watchable. Solid sound.

and just for clarification:

Ju-on (STV) - 2000
Ju-on 2 (STV) - 2000
Ju-on: The Grudge - 2003
Ju-on: The Grudge 2 - 2003

And Takashi Shimizu had nothing to do with Ring, Ring 2 or Ring 0 for that matter (no, he didn't write them). The Grudge is Shimizu's english language remake of Ju-on: The Grudge but it has a shitload of scenes from Ju-on and Ju-on 2.

Ju-on kicks ass, Ju-on 2 sucks, Ju-on: The Grudge pretty much sucked ass but was good for a couple scares. Ju-on: The Grudge 2 on the other hand, was a blast. Sequel to The Grudge is in the works, shit better stay with the original #2.

Holy shit I'm a fucking geek.

Excellent video, superb sound, film made me poo my bottom, easily as good as the japanese original, slightly more linear plot for western tastes, already a huge hit (only cost 10 million dollars to make and has already made over 4 times that in usa) so a sequel is inevitable, and the japanese sequel is just as scary so bring on grudge 2. Ignore the haters this is a superb TS and the film will make you wet your panties

well dont forget to take off at least 27 million dollars for popcorn and candy and maybe 15 for people wasting there time to take their girlfriends to the movies, maybe a few mill for the gas money it takes to get there.. and you could also deduct some cash for the people that 'actually' shit their pants and had to buy new ones so... i think maybe they went a little OVER budget...

*sorry joking ^^^* ??? heh

Good job guys. You had three un-noticed releases prior to this, bout time you made the charts, that one cam with Niome Campbell (Yum Yum..) was pretty good, and looks like you are moving forward. As stated before, good to see the SVCD.TS bar raced higher, people were getting too used to mavens mediocre cams.
Keep 'em coming!

I watched the POT version and outside of the first 5 minutes, it was very watchable. I didn't think anyone else would put this movie out. Yet, here we are and I must say I'm impressed. The sound is clear and the picture is clear. I don't see the grain others have talked about. I can't really notice an angle either while watching this on DVD or my laptop. So he ripped of his own movie. LOL. who cares. It still does NOT cover up the fact that the similarity between the two films is Uncanny. and FYI. the RINGU ur talking about is a US re release of the original RING and there is Ring, Ring 2, Ring Birthday ie Ring Zero, and Ring Virus..Basically American version of Ring combines: Ring one and Two japanese versions in to one, to help the US audience with more of the backstory of the girl. I watch plenty of imports...But thanx for the INFO!!

I think u meant to say OF in your delightful sentence. NO matter. the Ring original subtitled was far superior to the American Remake.. And what does your post have to do with the quality of this release. For a Recap, Video is a tad grainy and a slight angle to right. Noticeable mostly during subtitles, Good DTS audio. Movie has a few good scares, but overall just a rehash of the Ring. I call it the Ring Lite.LMFAO..Anyhow, Saw is out in the USA now so expect this one to fall fast!!

Just went through both parts and would have to say it isn't bad but isn't the best. Video is on a bit of an angle, and isn't as clear as it could be. Audio is pretty good but I wouldn't say perfect. Can't explain what I think of the audio it is clear but sounds kinda funny to me when you turn it up. The release is definately watchable if you want to see it now. I would rate the video a 7, and audio an 8. This is a very good release for a pretty new group but if you are picky you might want to wait for better.

eh, 6/8/2.5 Remakes.. when will they learn?

Posted by gfavored on 10-30-2004 04:12 PM:

Hi everyone,

that "slight" angle everyone is talking about is 4+ degrees which would be impossible to correct without major cropping, not to mention major distortion.

<edit> This is also interlaced.

vid - <edit> 7 (interlaced)
aud- 8
movie - 8.5 ( not bad but only two or three thrill parts)

Posted by vinnyv07 on 10-30-2004 10:54 PM:

Just ran to my computer and checked....my copy has the ending that the first cam release had.....the ending is there. This copy simply stops at the blank screen between the actual picture disappears and the credits appear. It shouldnt be nuked. The SLIGHT angle didnt bother me at all. This is a very good release....and not like we have a chioce with 2 releases ...this is by far the best.

Hi everyone,

I stand corrected, it seems mine had a corruption in the rar, I chked with a few others and it is all there. Although my apps are still telling me it is interlaced , but the main thing is is that it is all there.

Wow...what makes the original so much better? Someone please tell me!!!! I just finished watching Ju-on. It was a good movie. This is the same movie with better special effects and some American actors. Hmm, I guess the lack of special effect and subtitles make it great!!! I guess everyone's a critic. Lol, it's funny to sit here and read some comments people make. No matter how good a movie is there will always be a few that will down it. I guess it's human nature.

I thought the movie was OK, but it could have been more scary.

As far as the TS, well, I would rather the cammer cover the cam for a few seconds than get arrested (like they can do here). Angle wasn't a problem, and adjustments to the cam eventually worked out.

Thanks for the movie ending info, we were like "is that it?"

Compared to recent Telesyncs, this sucks!

Yeah its ok if you don't mind the camera shooting around, the camera man with a fetish for sticking his hand in front of it, the sound jumping out of sync and the picture being grainy.

All that said, it is watchable and the sound is excellent.

Its way over rated though! 5 for Video/ 8 for Audio

Sound slips in and out of sync quite noticeably(on 2nd disk!)
Picture grainy and lacks colour
Would have been a half decent release if not for sound issue and camera getting covered several times
As said before it watchable by all means, besides the sync issue which is a bit offputting.

would rate 7 for Video/ 6 for Audio

First off I would like to say thanks STN for the release. IMO this is very watch-able even with the slight angle. As stated before video is slightly grainy and a bit dark at times. I thought audio was good and I found it very funny when it appeared to me the camera man was trying to “pick” the guy off the screen as he was walking across. As for the movie itself, I was very disappointed. Although there are a few scary parts I thought the acting left more than a little to be desired. But then again that's just my opinion. My son as well as others watched it as well and they thought it was the “bomb-digity”.

Once again STN thanks for the great release (considering what you had to work with). Keep up the good work.

A/9 V/8 M/6

Edit: After thinking about it more. I think the video should be a 7 due to slight angle, grainy, man walking and camera man's arm.

Sound was good but all in all there have been much better telesync's this year.

The picture is pretty good even in dark scene, the sound is loud and clear and pretty scary at some point.

The movie itself is not as scary as i was expected, over-hyped by the media. They kept going back and forth in the story and this is really pisses me off and end up that the story got no point...not to mention the crappy ending.

The movie is way too much look alike of the ring. So no need to go see it in theater or buy the DVD.

7.5/8.5/5

WTF!!! Missing 2-3 Minutes?

Okay are yous people actually capable of downloading the film? Dunno bout yous lot but ive just watched this from start to finish, and its definitely missing the ending, perhaps 2-3 minutes. So in that case you people are either judging from the sample, have not actually downloaded it, just flicked through, or are just chatting plain shizzle manizzle. I may be mistaken and it just may end abruptly but if im not then please please nukers, nuke this mofo.

True should be NUKED!
Just watched it and it seems to be missing the ending as 'Sarah Michelle Gellar' turns around the movie ends abruptly! (also no credits etc). Left me wondering what the hell?

[7video/7sound/5.5movie] of what i seen This story is weird and seemed to keep alot open on what the hell is going on-why this is happening.

Liked 'SAW' much better...

Maybe this is because they are going to also remake Ju-On THe Grudge 2 as "The Grudge 2"

Well, just finished this one, and I watched it with about 10 friends. Everyone except one person did not find it scary. I guess i'm a lil' bitch cause I was not that "one" person. I personally thought it was real scary, and beyond that the story actually kept me interested. As for the Japanese version of this movie, I have not seen it but I will for sure when it comes out on one of my movie channels. People keep comparing this to the movie "THE RING", and a definite comparison can be drawn to that movie, but, really it stands on its own. I liked it, it freaked me out so what more do I want? Nothing. As for quality, I would give this movie a Solid 9 if it were not for camera bumps here and there (which were few and far between) so it drops to a 8 for quality. The sound was dead on so a 9 for that. The Movie itself for me was an 8 (THE RING would be a 9). So again:
8 / 9 / 8

P.S. Mystic Slippers your sigs continues to make me laugh.

Watched this yesterday
Video: 7.5
Audio:8.5
Movie:8
Video was very clear and had an angle, which was only noticeable when subtitles appeared.
Audio was great.
Movie was not as good as Ringu, but pretty scary at some moments.
Does it really miss the ending? When Sarah Michelle Gellar turns around at the end, the picture goes black and I would assume that's where the end credits start. Most TS'es do not have the end credits.

7/8/7

Best copy out by far, movie was pretty decent.

Thank you STN!

Video: 7 - good pic and colours, but occasional distracting movement of the cam and hand over lens.

Audio 9 - excellent DTS sourced, maybe slightly out-of-sync in one small section on CD2?

Movie 8 - best horror I've seen for a while, doesn't live up to all the hype, and I thought "The Ring" was better, but still an enjoyable movie.

I'm not going to disagree with anyone on this release. The video is a bit shaky, and for a couple of seconds it gets moved to "half-screen." At least, however, it isn't a shitty street silver that is missing anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes of the movie, which POT has been nuked so many times for.

As seeing this in the theatre, you're not missing anything ... the movie ends abruptly, which makes the ending a bit frightening. I loved all the Jap movies, Ju-on, Ju-on 2, Ju-on: The Grudge, Ju-on 2: The Grudge. I own all those Jap movies, but watching this one, and trying not to compare it to the Jap ones, it's pretty scary and can hold it's own ... I also thought the American version of the Ring was a bit freaky (I liked the fly scene the most).

I love watching movies, and hate comparing them to their "originals" ... remakes suck, but at least they are normally better than sequels. I hate when people compare this movie to the Ring, just because they are both remakes of Jap movies ... nothing to do with one another, and they should be kept seperate. Not trying to rag on anyone here, just saying ... they are each scary in their own right.

Video: 6 (definitely watchable though)
Audio: 7 (with exception of the out of sync part on CD2)
Movie: 8.25, definitely worth watching again in my book, thanks for asking

/end rant

Me too - is it just us or is everyone's audio progressively out of sync?

Posted by Twirlzy on 12-01-2004 05:10 PM:

Just watched on the big screen...

My analysis:

If you dont already have a copy, you only have two to choose from so get this anyway.

It is watchable, you can enjoy the film with this release, its quality doesnt really affect the film.

Audio: is crystal clear, no problems but it does jump out of sync a few times in cd2 - but this is rectified quickly each time, going back into sync shortly after.

Video: does have an angle (noticable with subs and at beginning of film with titles) but this does not matter when the film is on, it does not make a difference and is not overly noticable.

A little washed of colour (expected) but the clarity seemed ok to me, no awful motion blur, and the picture seemed to have good depth.

The camera is shakey & zooms in & out when the operator is adjusting the camera during the titles, to prevent major cropping. Once it is fixed it is fine.

I noticed someone stand up to leave theatre and you see it at bottom of screen. No biggie. Operator also places hand in front of the lens twice. Again no biggie and only for a matter of a second or so.

Movie - I liked it, scared me.

If you want to see the movie - get this, it is fine, trust me. (what do you want, its free!)

Ok yes ime a newbie but ive been around for a far bit now and this Release has good audio but the video quality is some what questionable like the guy in the last post says the picture is on a slant and it suffers from lipsinq issues. Though the film its self is quite good but the jap original is better if you like reading subtitles

Video 6.0
Audio 8.5
Film 8.5
