-- So who's going to what and where this summer? (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=75732)

Posted by HoldDaSalad on 04-07-2007 05:51 AM:

So who's going to what and where this summer?

Last night my bro and I went to Mushroomhead at the Alrosa Villa which is a local place around here. Most of you probably remember that Dime had died in this club. In case you say to yourself I know that club, But can't place it.

Last nights show was one of the best I have ever seen. Mushroomhead put on a fan-fucking-tastic job. They never seize to amaze me. They played nothing but great music. There was a total of 7 or 8 bands, 4 local bands and 4 national bands including Mushroomhead.

I can't remember the locals names, They were ok. Not great but ok.

The national bands that you should check out are.

Black Flood Diesel which kicked some serious ass, I could not find there cd. There just now making a small name for themeselves.

As Summer dies, I swear I have heard of them before yesterday, But the bassist was a female, They were really good, I want to pick there cd somewhere.

psyclone nine which was really different. They put on a really good show, They were rather heavy but they were industrial. You can a few of there cd's without problem all over the place.

I wasn't about to get into the pit this time, I think I'm getting to old for that shit, and I'm to fat to mosh anymore.

So here is a shitty pic I took with my phone.

What shows are you planning on going to this year?

I am thinking about Ozzfest, because so far there is no mainstream shit going to be there, Lamb of god is on the main stage. and it's FREE.

My buddy wants to go to Rock on the Range, It's ALL mainstream shit, He likes all the bands, I like a couple bands, and ZZ top is going to be there, They are classic and great. So I wouldn't mind seeing them.

Never heard of any of those bands, from their names I am guessing its hard rock or close to metal????

Not my cup of tea but would listen to sample... Got one?

Posted by HoldDaSalad on 04-07-2007 09:13 AM:

I found this for As summer dies, It's only clips of the song, So I think it's cool, If not delete it.

http://cdbaby.com/cd/assummerdies, LIstening to the samples, It's not bad, it's not fantastic either. But good enough to jam to. I bet if I heard the whole thing I would really enjoy it.

psyclops nine you can download on torrents any day of the week, I got two cd's quick.

Mushroomhead, I know you've heard of. That's the only group I ever talk about on this board.

I'm not sure if it was posted on this forum or not, i think it was though, A web site to tell if a group is assoiciated with RIAA.

I want to know if I should buy the music or download it.

I found this on youtube, This video is actually disturbing. lol.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F05HZNL3yrM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs6xrtCH8DA

I'm going to add more as I find good vids, These are old as fuck, There budget is better now. lol. Fucking classic though.

Even if you don't like there music check them the fuck out live. They rock.

Couldnt agree more!

Neways, this summer im gonna hope to catch Tool in hamilton (my hometown) at Copps, and i want to catch the Invaluable Darkness Tour (devildriver, dimmu borgir etc.), but i dont know if i can still get tickets. The major show i wanna catch, is the Manson and Slayer tour that kicks off in July, im not a huge fan of manson, but slayer live is just out of control. Other than that, im gonna catch some local shows that go on in my city. May 11, im gonna see threat signal (maybe you guys have heard of them because, they have a cd in HMV, quite an amazing band!). So yea that wraps up my summer concert itenerary.

psyclon nines awesome especially live.

i think i might stay home this summer, seeing how ozzfest kinda sucks this year, might go to an ozzfest offdate, if chthonic, behemoth and nile play on a date together, sounds of the undergrounds lineup this years horrible. ill most likely be at the lake ripping shit up on the jet skiis.

Amazing, the worst british band of the 90s and the worst british band of the 00s, together in one sentance at last!

(ok a lil harsh, the kaiser chiefs are probably the worst band of the 00s. u2 are just globally bad and thus don't count in decade slag offs)

Mushroomhead is a fantastic band, that I can agree on. As for the others that you mentioned...who? This Summer I'll be checking out the Vans Warped Tour. The best band on the tour (IMO) would have to be Bring Me The Horizon. Hands-down. Brutality at its' finest. But why are they playing the Warped Tour? Especially since they're metal and they're from Europe. Anyways, no complaints!

I used to have so many of their cds (on my broken hard-drive). I still have a cd or two on my parents computer. If I remember correctly, I'm not really into the singers voice. And why do you say, "They are heavy though." as if I don't like heavy. Bring Me The Horizon is very very heavy, you should definitely give them a listen. That goes for all of you metal fans.

Official: http://www.myspace.com/bmth

Note: Any song is worth a listen.

Edit: It had been a while since I heard In Flames, but I just did on Guitar Hero III and dudes voice didn't sound too bad.

Slipknot will be headlining a tour here in a couple of months, should be good. Other bands (that will be on the same tour) are: Mastadon, Disturbed, Wall of Jericho, The Red Chord and Underoath. Just to name a few. I would love to see Slipknot again, the first time was in 00' or 01' I believe. What a show. They've been here at least one time since, but unfortunately I couldn't make it out to that show. I really really want to see After The Burial when they come, I saw them last year and that about blew me away. Amazing.

Guessing Camden or Holmdel, NJ shows since you're in NY but what about the Pittsburgh, PA one? I am most definitely thinking of going to that show (closer by a few miles than Detroit, MI) so let me know. I've got at least 3 other people that are die hard Priest fans like myself so they will most likely attend this show with me as well.

already got tix for jones beach......im more psyched to see motorhead than priest(no disrespect)...when priest is promoting an album they spend half the show playing shit songs off it....the halford reunion two summers ago was awesome....it was like seeing screaming for vengence tour all over again....dio sabbath is cool cause ozzy lost it since the accident....motorhead is always boss.....

....i never liked testament but im gonna have to sit through em.... or sit in the van alone....probably with an empty cooler by then

Nothing, it's just that there is nothing "nu" about it,also half the so called nu metal bands are not metal (limp bizket, nickleback etc)and the balance are old/hair metal bands that jumped on the gravy train. I gotta say I do like system of a down .
I am off to see Clapton at the Albert hall on the 16th of May cushty.

Limp Bizkit is still around? They should have died years ago, Nickelback is considered nu metal? Where have I been? I hardly consider them rock.

When I think of nu metal as a genre I think of Mushroomhead, Otep, Soil, Dope, Static-X and shit like that.

I don't think the term nu-metal means that the music is new, I think that's just the genre it's classified, as oppose to grunge, or hair band shit.

You're right about the genre thing but the music companies and music channels like kerrang push loads of shit bands as nu metal when they clearly aren't,then other good bands like metallica for instance get lumped in as well, great band but definitely not nu metal.I've tried listening to a quite a bit of it but it all sounds like 80's Swedish death metal to me.

I heard V was one of the most expensive festivals in the UK , any truth in that ? Not my kind of line-up this year , would'nt mind seeing The Killers though.

I'm also thinking of getting tickets for the new rock festival in Knebworth called Sonisphere , gonna have to see if any of my mates wanna go first though.

Went to the very first Knebworth
Allman brothers,Doobie brothers ,Van Morrison ,The Mahavishnu orchestra with John McLaughlin, the Sensational Alex Harvey band. You will never see line ups like that in the UK again .Best gig i ever went to ,the Doobies best act I ever saw. They had Jeff skunk Baxter on lead as well. Saw the Stones there the following year, just before they came on some geezer came on stage naked having a wank,One of my mates who was near comatose drunk turned around and said fuck me I knew Jagger was outrageous but that's mental, happy days.

Its not cheap, every year it gets more expensive. That fact you have to buy vouchers to purchase your drink from most of the places on site is a joke. I was standing around for a good hour or so to get my vouchers. I think the bacardi and strong bow tent were the only 2 you could pay with cash. Food wise, well if you like to eat you're gonna be spending a lot.

Its a good festival, queueing times to get in and out were really fast. Highlights last year was seeing Prodigy, Verve, Lenny Kravitz and Muse. The flip side is getting to see how terrible some people are!

I think you have to do that at all festivals. I know you do at Download and Reading & Leeds. It's Just a way to cut down queuing times.

I was thinking of going donington for the Saturday lineup 'til I seen Slipknot & The prodigy are going to clash. Do you know if they're on at the same time or are they going to stagger the stage times a bit so The Prodigy finish early?

Here's a nice pic of the last donington I went to, Nu-Metal rocks! lol

They're actually staggering the stage times for them , The Prodigy finish then 5 mins later Slipknot start.

That's good then, I've never seen The Prodigy live and was planning on missing Slipknot, I've seen them before when they were promoting their first album and from what I hear they're playing a large amount of that material again for a 10th ann. setlist.
Getting to see both on the same night will be sweet, Prodigy's new stuff is awesome and Slipknot always put on a great show.

I've hav'nt seen either of them live so it's a fucking bonus that they're not clashing ,I get to watch both. And I agree about Prodigys new stuff , it's the shit.

I would possibly like the attend the Vans Warped Tour, but eh, we'll see what happens.

The lineup is meh.

can't say there's much on that tour i'd like to see , Alexisonfire and thrice would be pretty sweet though.

Really enjoyed myself at Download last week , Prodigy were amazing as were Zztop , Slipknot , KoRn and Limp bizkit.

Gonna get tickets to the Uk leg of the Sonisphere festival , should be awesome , get to see tallica again , Linkin park , Heaven and Hell and NIN... should be sweet.

Also going to see AC/DC next week , not really a big fan but ticket was free so meh.

They are one of the reasons I may go. I've been wanting to see them for some time, and missed them last time they were here.

Saw Heaven and hell in Brighton last year one of the best gigs I ever seen. Iommi's playing is something else.
