Sky Digital.... Capturing
Hi, I recently bought a tv card http://www.leadtek.com/multimedia/w..._vc100xp_1.html
& I want to capture sky digital. Now I have tried one of those Scart to S-Video leads & they dont work, (sky digital doent have s-video).
After searching through google... I came across this.... http://www.svideo.com/svideocoax.html
Would this work?... Cause sky box has a RF out & I think this maybe the only way other than taping the TV with VCR. Let me know what you think or any other ideas you may have.
Regards Comet
Forget about RF. Get a RGB->S-Video converter. I have used those with $KY in the past with no problems. You can also just get a cheap Scart->Composite lead, even though it's slightly lower quality than S-Video, but still infintely better than RF. In fact, there is a pretty good chance your current scart/s-video cable feeds composite through. Try setting the input on the card to composite and see what happens.
Ok, thanks for the reply. I have ordered one of those RGB-S-Video Converter & it will be here in 1 week. Il let you know if it works. Comet

quote:I couldn't say for sure, as I don't have a PS2 scart, but the scart->composite are quite common, and you can pick them up for around £5 or less. The socket on it is usually an S-Video one, but it still passes composite through it, and can be connected directly to most capture cards. Still, doesn't matter once you have your RGB2S-Video converter box. I will check back and hear how it went. Hopefully it will all go smoothly

Can Sky digiboxes output s-video? My ntl box is composite or RGB only, although apparently some of the older boxes were composite/s-video.
Comet how much was your RGB->S-video converter and where did you order it from, out of interest?
The PS2 SCART wouldn't work because the SCART end will be video-in, not video-out. Most generic cables of that type have a in/out selector switch at the SCART end.
