Windows Vista

Hi Guys.

If i leave my desktop alone doing a task for a while, after say 5 minutes it goes into a locked state and a screen comes up. Do you guys know how to disable this option as it gets frigging annoying when i am keeping an eye on my pc from a distance and the screen changes to the locked screen.

Moved to appropriate forum...

I don't know about Windows Vista but for Windows XP, you go into your display properties and look under your screen saver options. There's a checkbox that lets you specify whether you want to password protect upon resume - just uncheck that box.

I'm assuming it's similar for Vista (a quick Google search would suggest so).

:EDIT: ..oh.. you said it goes straight to the "computer locked" notice which would imply it isn't a screensaver.

I have the screensaver set to never come on. All power settings etc are set to on. It's a screen that appears if i leave it for a set time kinda like a screen saver but it says locked in the middle.....

I'm thinking screensaver as well, can you post a pic?

it maybe logging you off your acct. If so under the screen saver, turn off wait 10 minutes etc, etc. Just disable that, see if that does it.

::edit:: Duh, My suggestion just turns the monitor shut off or not. I forget where the settings are i'm referring to. Hmmm.

OK if your on vista just do this to get to the screen

click on the windows logo (used to be start) then click on the padlock on the right. This is the screen that just appears on it's own after a while. It's that screen i want to stop appearing on it's own.
