splitting mp4?

how can i split a large mp4 movie into smaller parts, i googled but cooulnt get anything helpfull. i seen something about doing it with quicktime but i cant do it without it trying to re-encode it

I dont have any mp4's handy so i cant try myself.

like the other one it only accepts mp4 as a file to convert to something else, you cant actually split it. i found all these when i googled which is why i came here to ask, so if anyone that actualy know what there talking about can help please feel free.....
