Durnig VCD's
I downloaded a film in AVI fromat then burnt it on to a CD. It would play on my laptop but not on my DVD player (also plays cd's) any one any idea what I am doing wrong?
Just because your DVD player supports CDs, doesn't necessarily mean it supports DivX/XviD. Post the manufacturer/model of your DVD player.
What's a durnig VCD?

"Burning"?
buy a philips {they play almost anything}and give away the DVD player you now have.i have a philips 5960 now days that plays everything the philips 642 did but upscales DVDs to 720p and 1080i as if they were HD.
the strange thing it wont play above a 720 res. but projects 720p and 1080i.
screwing up the thought of shit in shit out. case is shit in good or better out.
i know this is going to screw up thoughts if you haven't tryed a upscalling player yet .
so you can read
THIS if you want to take the time.

The upscaling process does a good job of matching the upscaled pixel output of a DVD player to the native pixel display resolution of an HDTV capable television, resulting in better detail and color consistency.
quote:My understanding is that true HD requires a completely different chipset to upscaling.
