Decent copy... I never bothered with the cam, so can't compare, but this is watchable. Sound seemed a bit hollow, but it could have been me. Video is decent, though I noticed a couple of people walking in front of it... no harm to the viewing, really. Pretty good film.

Just watched the full movie. A touch dark in places as mentioned but you can still see everything clearly. A few minor glitches and there seems to be a few missing seconds here and there but nothing to spoil the movie. Definitely one of the best quality TS's i've seen in a long time. Audio is direct & clear and no sync problems. Great job 20th

Video: 8
Audio: 7.5
Movie 9 - great action flick, best of the year so far

What a nice day, 3 good releases from 2 good groups. It's been a bit 20th, but your group is one of the best out there. A very great release on the #1 movie out there. I felt the video and audio matches the quality 20th is known for. Good color and you can see what is going on in the dark scenes, something you don't always get. With this movie you had to have that and we do, thanks.

Posted by Grannd on 07-12-2007 02:02 PM:

There's a short section missing at 3 minutes into the second cd.

Otherwise nice release, about 30 minutes in the first cd the sound gets a tad better (deeper sound).

V 7.5 (missing little bit of footage, otherwise good quality for a TS)
A 8 (gets better halway through disc 1)
M 8 nice

The sound is hollow, but ok.

Movie was awesome. Lots of comic relief, great effects. All i need is a copy of Harry Potter with this quality, and i'll be set for the summer. Thanks for the quality 20th!

It gets a little glitchy at that point but I can't notice that a full minute is missing. The video quality on this is amazing for a ts... very close to r5 quality.

If you give this video a 6 then in your mind a 10 for a ts must look like a fucking HD-DVD! This video is no less than 8!

To Joemimel: Only minor glitches at the start cd2 that I noticed and it's nothing big. And don't you think IF cd2 was full of glitches that others would have said something? duh!

Carolinawolf are you sure you are looking at the right files, this is not just pretty bright but its the brightest i have seen in a long while, even the dark scenes are bright enough to watch.

Best TS i have seen in a while, good colours, bright, sharp sound.

I dont get why it was nuked what does bad.res mean anyway granted i watch these things from a PC so res is never much of an issue but i'ld rather take the resolution as it comes its when they dick around with things like that allot of groups screw up.

Posted by Budman69 on 07-12-2007 10:25 PM:

Audio goes from mono-ish/cam type sound to stereo at 29:39, possibly taper realized input wasnt seated properly or settingor possibly theater fault.

Resolution is 703x403 rather odd size, not the standard, reason why it's nuked we all know you can adjust to whatever size you like using xvid codec's

Been waiting for this for a few weeks.

audio 8/10

videos dark but its really watchable, what more can one expect from a video camera, also has a really light flicker, whoever says it doesnt dont kid yourself. watch a scene with a white background if you really want to find it, picky yes i am, more realistic, im not going too balls over this release like every other person. missing the whole sams happy time scene on disc 2 about 3 minutes in and i saw 2 people walk by when megatron wanted the cube from sam when hes up on that building. good riddance, assholes got there kinda late hmmm.

great movie, im seeing it in the theatre again next week, hopefully they repack it with fixed audio and no missing scenes or maybe someone else can top this one.

FYI: What the nuke means

Just FYI for anybody who cares, here's the skinny behind the nuke...

Scene rules dictate a number of outdated restrictions and requirements. One of them is that the maximum horizontal resolution for a DivX/XviD release is 672 pixels for widescreen films. The horizontal resolution on this film is 704 pixels. Both are playable by any standalone DivX player made in the last 3 years.

In short, there's no common sense reason behind this nuke, just one dictated by a restriction that, in this case, makes no sense.

no audio problems here, and no problems with dark scenes. Think some of you have codec issues or cheap monitors, tvs, or something wrong, the nuke is like above said, just outdated rules. Until r5 or dvd
this is the release to get.

8/8/5 agree over rated

excellent special effects but silly story and bad acting.

On missing scenes, nothing important or
noticeable. If you didnt know it was missing you wouldnt of noticed...

I wasn't even talking to you or complaining about the rls. That comment was made to a guy who said this rls was missing a scene when it wasn't. Read my original rating... I gave this a very high rating!

I actually agree with you and I don't care about the nuke either. This is as good as any ts video-wise that I've ever seen... and I've seen a lot. It even beats Centropy.

Right, so, now a proper rating

Video - 9: The high resolution is obviously warranted by the source, as it's wonderfully sharp. (save for the out-of-focus paramount logo at the beginning) Unfortunately it does have problems with dark areas; while the bright stuff is nice and bright, the dark stuff is too dark. The color gradient isn't even, basically. Some really, really expert contrast tweaking could fix this, but it's hardly something I'd expect out of your average video editor, much less a release group. Still gotta deduct points for it though. No uneven frame transitions fortunately, so they had the shutter speed set right.

EDIT: After watching the movie all the way through I'm bumping my rating up to a 9. I'm not sure if it's the film's content or that the cammer (mostly) corrected the problem partway through, but the "too dark" issue is only a problem near the beginning of the movie. It's not pefect, but you won't be squinting and wondering what the hell is going on, even in the high-motion stuff that happens in the dark. Were it not for the motion blur this could easily be mistaken for a true Telecine. As to the missing footage, there are three segments missing; two are less than 3 seconds, and the biggest one (3:19 on the second disc) is maybe 30 seconds. All of it is stuff you can easily fill in based on what's being said before and after.

Audio - 8: Mixed bag on this one. The first ~30 minutes of the film use a tinny "fake stereo" source. (i.e. one channel is inverted compared to the other) This means that for the first ~30 minutes of the film, any speaker output that combines the two channels (e.g. a mono TV or your center channel speaker) will be almost completely silent because the two channels cancel each other out. 20th should have taken just one channel of this audio (doesn't matter which) and encoded it mono. (or joint stereo anyway) The rest of the audio is better quality, and more importantly is absent that "fake stereo" crap.

Movie - 9: Good lord, that was awesome. I mean, it helps that I grew up watching the animated series, but it's still a really good movie all the same. You've got action interspersed with interesting characters, human and Cybertronian. Optimus Prime is, well, Optimus Prime, to a T... except he's funny too. Megatron is an awesome villain as well, but not nearly as two-dimensional as he was in the cartoons. The only gripe I have is that Starscream has like two lines in the entire film. (He blows a lot of stuff up though) Oh, and they confused Brawl (Decepticon Tank) with Devastator. (Decepticon Voltron, basically) The plot is a wee bit nonsensical at times, but given that the movie is about robots that turn into cars it's well within the "suspension of disbelief" threshold. I'm legitimately surprised that Michael Bay, a guy who wasn't a fan of the Transformers at all, was able to put together such a good film about them.

Bottom line: With the excellent video quality and (mostly) good audio, this is the release to get. Screw the nuke; the nuke is for a retarded reason anyway. ("Bad res" = resolution is too high; see my previous post) There are some minor things I wish had been fixed, but they are still minor things. This might still be the release to get even after the R5 inevitably comes out, as I've seen plenty of R5s with worse quality than this. Download it. Download it now!

All i can say is WOW!!! What a great movie. just watched this for the first time with the wife and we both enjoyed the heck out of it. the video was pretty clear throughout entire film. however, there are a couple of hickups that drop the video rating itself. there are a few glitches throughout the movie and also there is a couple seconds missing from the glitches. there is also a few bodies that walk by during the movie which is kinda distracting but not too bad at all. the audio is very hollow and tinny through the first 29 mins of the film. however, at 29:49 the audio fills out and gets much better. i dont know what happens but it is definately a major improvement and makes the movie that much better. as for the film itself, all i can really say is WOW again. like i said my wife and i thoroughly enjoyed watching this great movie MADD PRoPS to 20th for a pretty quick and by far the best quality release of Transformers as of yet. Keep em comin!

video = 9 AFTER TWEAKING - if you're encoding to mpeg for DVD, just touch the brightness and saturation up and its an awesome copy, possibly the best TS in years! (no ghosting, good colours, crystal clear and if you know your encodng shit, you could even make this a perfect 10 for a CAM video)

audio = 7 - no bass (which again you can add yerself with tweakin') , but clear & does the job... good enough for me.

movie = 7 - better than i expected, but I'm no obsessive transformers geek aged 30+ and still got all the dolls (seems theres a few on here hahaha.)

Posted by Bongloads on 07-13-2007 02:10 PM:

V : 9 - AS a ts. One of the best I've endured in a while. A little soft, more of the usual bluish tones, and clearly oversaturated, but you can tweak it up nice. I counted 3 macroblocked frames and 2 brief human passes, but all in all - Great.

A: 8 A little tinny and quiet, but clear and workable.

M: 9+ Well surpassed my expectations. Really don't care for the franchise and wasn't going to even see it, but glad I did.

Have to agree here, a lot of people are bashing this release for silly reasons.

The video is astounding, colours were slightly off, e.g. Shia looked like he'd been using fake tan for a while but apart from that this was superb, people have pretty much hit on everything else like the glitches on CD2 etc but I didn't feel they distracted from the movie.

Audio like others have said, is Tinny up until 29.39 where it seems to switch channels and becomes full, doesn't distract majorly though.

The movie for me was excellent, never saw Transformers as a kid, so this was all new and sometimes we all need to see a rip-rage leave your brain at the door blockbuster.
If you're looking for storyline with a message, go watch War & Peace otherwise just enjoy.

Video - 9
Audio - 7.5
Movie - 8

P.S. Did that woman walking past at the end really need the toilet so badly she had to leave right in the middle of the biggest scene?

Anyone spot the "20th" watermarks?
On screen for just a single frame - blink & you miss 'em.
lol, a lot like subliminal messaging!!
They obviously did this to stop the 'dupers'

Nice release, cant see why some of you lot are bashing it - but each to thier own....

Rated as a TS
V-9
A-7
M-7

Seen this in the Theater the day it came out, and I can tell you that a TS or even a DVD Rip will not do this movie justice. This is one of those movies you have to see on the big screen.

As far as the TS goes, probably one of the best I've seen in a while.

V: 9
A: 7 (First part is really bad, then gets alot better)
M: 8 (I loved it!)

!YUMMIE !

V 8

A 8

M 8

Compared to the last release its like Night Vs Day, My son and I enjoyed this tremendously. Nuke for Bad AR Must be getting OLD cuz I didn't even notice.

Saw the heads on screen toward the end of the film. But Missed all the screams and noises of the last release!

20th best release so far

Posted by wanksock on 07-14-2007 12:29 AM:

couldnt give 2 fucks about the nuke reasons

watermarked: who gives a shit? better watermark it now and stop a million noobs re-encoding and trying to pass it off as a telecine.

bad res: xbmc plays it perfectly, couldnt care less.

video-8
audio-7
movie-8

props to 20th

Audio - Tiny at the start as stated above but direct and not bad - 7

Video - At least in my opinion ANY movie should get nuked to death if there are missing scenes, glitches or what have you, but those are not the scene rules so... There are glitches that cause scenes to be missing and the end during/after credits is absolutely missing. That being said the quality of what is there is very good - 6

Movie - Not the super movie that most are saying it is, but entertaining enough summer fluff - 7

Posted by fireman911 on 07-14-2007 06:15 AM:

after watching the whole movie:

V:9 very nice TS for sure
A:8 no problems with it
M:8 i don't expected it... but very good movie and megan fox

to the lame nuke... what the hell is the problem... bad ar, i don't care, the release is fine!

Thumbs up

V - 8

A - 7

M - 10

I would give a solid 8/10 (as a Telesync)
easy on the eyes , even in the dark scenes , a few glitches here and there , plus a few head bobs etc. overall very good
Audio was ok for me .

Movie - Best movie I've seen in a while . totally hope they make another.

Thanks for repeating what I very basicly said, nice to see you read my comment properly

::ModEdit: How about you halt the sarcasm and shrink the sig instead. When you post more than once in a thread it becomes a bit much.::

Okay, I was able to fix the audio.

As mentioned above, one channel of the audio is inverted, causing the mono signal to split into "fake stereo". At the same time, this is also killing off a lot of the bass. Why, I don't know.

Anyway, I ripped out the audio in VirtualDub (there were sync issues when I tried to convert it to DVD, so I was going to remix it), took the WAV into GoldWave (a free editor, well worth the download), selected the Left channel from start to 29:38.8, and Inverted it, just the left channel.

Not only does this remerge the sound into mono, but it also restores the bass!! The first half hour (including Blackout's attack at the military base) sounds just like the rest of the movie. So if you don't mind doing a bit of tweaking, it's quite easy to fix this.

Granted, this is something that 20th should have caught and fixed prior to release. It took me only about ten minutes.

their seems 2 be missing scenes other that that near perfect

video 7 (would be 8 but scenes missing
audio 8
movie 9

Just watched this release, and i'm very happy this quality rocks!! In my opinion guy needed to change tape in camera(missing scene)

V - 9
A - 7(no bass)
M - 11

Video: 9. It's not really dark at all, kinda flickery at the beginning but it's fixed with the audio.

Audio: 7.5/8.5. I fixed the audio, so without the fix, 7.5, but after the fix 8.5. It's good sounding but it's not spectacular.

Movie: 9 (good summer action movie)

This is the one to get before a DVDscr or R5!!!

V: 8 - reminds me of the great groups of the past. And the too dark part? Not dark at all on DLP television. What are you guys watching it on, 18ms 600:1 125.00 lcd computer monitors?
A: 8 - even though it's not as full at the begining, it was clear and understandable. In sync...
M: 9 - Actually better then I thought it would be....

Very nice job on this TS from 20th.

Video was very watchable. A little dark at times, but still good.

Audio was fine. I had no trouble understanding anything.

Movie: What a fun film. I don't really like Michael Bay but he did a good job on this film. I'm really pleased with the way he brought the Transformers robots to the big screen. And good god, not only is there a hot brunette in this by the name of Megan Fox but a sizzling blonde with a sexy British accent as well. Where did she come from?! Wow. Anyway, I really hope they do at least two more of these. The movie was just cool as hell.

V: 9
A: 9
M: 10

9/7/1

Picture was very good for a CAM, Audio was definitely direct, no complaints from my side. Sound wasn't as hollow as a lot of other recent TS/R5s. But how anyone who isn't brain damaged can enjoy this movie is completely beyond me.

Posted by blakamin on 07-20-2007 12:02 PM:

way better than other versions

9/6/7

edit: giving audio a six only coz if you put it on anything other than stereo(on a home-cinema), it runs the rear channels only....
I can live with that tho, mainly because the video is so fuckin good
