Predict the Box Office

New Openings for this weekend include Charlies Angels II and 28 Days Later. CA II is scheduled to open in around 3,459 Theaters and 28 Days in 1,200.

My Predictions:
1. Charlies Angels II - 55 Million
It won't bomb, but it won't be the biggest hit of the year. 55 seems likely, in my opinion.
2. The Hulk - 27 Million
It won't fall as much as 2 Fast 2 Furious, but expect a drop over 50 %, while still staying above 20 Million.
3. Finding Nemo - 15 Million
4. Bruce Almighty - 7 Million
5. 28 Days Later - 5 Million

And my message...PREDICT!!!... I like giving people low scores...

I'm sure they'll blame the lack of ticket sales on the good weather the east coast is seeing this weekend

If you consider inflation prices for tickets. T3 and T2 are pretty much equel as for opening day box office totals. Hard to say what T3 will do for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. But I will say a 65 million dollar total for weekend only. And should do 80 milion for Tuesday-Sunday.

NEW WEEK!

Well, CczuAzul's been kind enough to tell me he's too lazy to start off the new week's predictions. As stated before, you have up until Saturday, July 12, at Noon to edit your lists.

Here are the upcoming releases this week.

July 9, 2003 - Pirates of the Caribbean
July 11, 2003 - League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

This has been a summer of short legs so it seems.. will that continue this week? Follow your heart, get out your keyboard, and show the rest of us your hand at picking the numbers!

I won, I had an 81 % or something, but I kinda cheated since, even though I met the update deadline, I looked at T3's performance on the 2nd and 3rd compared with Men in Black II's performance, saw the proportions, and got an accurate result...being able to have a sticky with me as the author is enough of a privilege as it is...

Next week we have the sequel to the original "Bad Boys" which made $65,647,413, had an opening weekend of $15,523,358 opening in 2,132 theaters, made about 140 million worldwide, cost 23 million to make, and made over 31.5 million in rentals. Bruckheimer's coming off Pirates of the Carribean, which is the main competition this weekend. Also opening are How To Deal (2,200 +) and Johnny English (2,100 theatres or so). This is a somewhat tough week. Last year this weekend was relatively week, with Road to Perdition topping at 15 Million and Stuart Little 2 with a bit less. In 2001, Jurassic Park 3 topped with 50 million.

1. Bad Boys II - 40 Million (could it really beat T3)
2. POTC - 29 Million
3. Johnny English - 10 Million
4. How To Deal - 9 Million
5. T3 - 8 Million

Umm...You didn't really think you'd win petrocs, did ya? I don't know how gokou did the results, but they were extremely different from the way I did them, I'd like it if you told me exactly how you did them. (if it's a way worth trying...) See, I basically calculate your top 5 and your correctness....if you go over the actual number, the equation is: actual number/your prediction...if your prediction is smaller than the actual number, the equation is: your prediction/actual number...then I add those 5 numbers together, and that number is then divided by 5 (you predicted 5 movies)...I don't think there's another way to do it except by taking off points if someone doesn't actually guess the order of the top 5 right (so, for example, I had How To Deal as #4, and it ended up at #7 or so, but that's not how you did them, because when I recalculated the numbers of those who got the order correctly, the numbers were different)
1. CczuAzul - 82.57039879 (look at my predictions compared to the actual weekend numbers, I'm NOT cheating/lying! )
2. petrocs - 81.15834452
3. Carson - 80.03160336
4. gokou - 74.81886968
5 + 6 - cjh404 and johnwsmokejr - under 70 %, didn't feel like doing them
I don't mind if you guys do the results, as, it's a pain in the ass to do them anyways, just, I'd like to keep the format similar to the way we've had it since the end of May, and if you guys wanna change it, we'll discuss it...

#2 - Spy Kids - 28.4 Million
#3 - Seabiscuit - 20.5 Million
#4 - pirates ... - 18.5 Million

Well, we can do that if everyone else agrees...maybe next week will be a better time to try it since we have 3 new movies this week and I seriously doubt that all of us will get the order right. Any of the 3 new movies could top. (well, Seabiscuit isn't opening as wide as the others in 3,000 + theaters, but, Tomb Raider 2 "could" bomb, and so could Spy Kids 3) You guys have to talk.
