Staff Wanted - Moderators

We've been having a bit of a tidy-up at VCDQ HQ and we could probably use another moderator or two. On the back of this we've created a little short-list but may have overlooked somebody who wants to moderate this hellhole and will do it properly.

Here's our list but if you want to nominate yourself or somebody else we "may" add them to the poll that we'll have in a week or so to select new mods.

Before some of the more retarded members get a semi-on, admin have the ultimate say over who gets to moderate or even who gets to be on the poll and some of you (you know who you are) don't have a fucking chance

Also, anybody trying to influence the outcome of the poll needs to know that WE CAN SEE WHO VOTED FOR WHAT AND ANYBODY USING MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS FOR VOTING OR SIMILAR WILL HAVE EVERY ACCOUNT >BANNED<

Oh, and no flaming or other shit in this thread, keep it serious please ladies or I'll fuck your mom.

The current staff short-list is:

I think the shortlist that you guys got is pretty decent.

Mother is rather knowledgeable about the HD stuff.
Candyman even though he can be a tool, overall good guy and would probably be a decent mod.
Arf I think would be good as well, just doesn't post enough, lol.

Not much modding to do here tbh. Check the mod queue for spam move a thread or two and that's about it.

I'd like to toss my hat in the ring, I don't post as much as most of the names in the short list, however i am on here a couple times daily, and I peruse through the various sections in which people post.

I believe that being a mod isn't about posting tons or having a comment about everything, it's more about keeping the board clean of people who troll, or just flame in general.

Plus, i want exclusive axxs to the vcdq 0-day ftp with the 10000MBit line..

Lastly, what Arfur said was really good, he's got my vote.

I remember my mum and dad coding that worm game, the one they used to put on nokia phones, on our Dragon 32. Took them feckin days to copy it out of a magazine.

Also remember some little scrote trying to sell little programs cut out of mags for 10p a shot at junior school. That was a few years ago!

Maybe try both of them out and see who does better or even keep both.

Had a little discussion earlier with para and decide that I believe I'm capable of doing a good job as a mod. Never once ever asked to for a mod position but I do appreciate being on the short list and if I do get the job I know, with help from Neversoft and Vampire, I'll do the best job I can to make what has become my favorite (and daily if not hourly) internet home away from home.

So what flavors you want, almond, crispy, caramel, milk chocolate or peanut butter (and no our peanut butter is NOT from Peanut Corp of America, the American members will understand this one lol)

I like the way this thread is going and a couple of you who have put your names forward probably should've been on the short-list in the first place.

I'll add a couple of the people expressing an interest in this thread onto the short-list, although I'm torn now because some of you post really often and would no doubt be excellent at keeping this dump running and some of you are invaluable when it comes to assisting members on specific subjects.

I think we probably need two new mods, which is a bitch cos I like the sound of at least three of the people shortlisted :S

^Most of this is in preparation of a new server, forum AND homepage though - it's part of the plan to modernise the site instead of leaving it to die a slow and painful death

Davidbrent has posted a good example of a sensible thread that needed better moderation. We should encourage these and keep the really dumb shit in the pink. This is likely to be enforced harder once the forum is moved to the latest all-singing-all-dancing vBulletin.

Thank you to whoever suggested me, I appreciate the recognition.

It's true that I do try to help people out with their questions where I can - but that doesn't automatically make someone good mod material.

Apart from vcdq.com, there are two other forums that I check on daily, and I am actually a moderator on one of them. I perform general mod duties such as monitoring for rule breaches, deleting posts, moving threads, and so on. I also help the site owner with suggestions for future development of his site.

On that forum, it's very rare that I need to step in and lock threads/ban users. Yes I occasionally get the "fucking forum nazi" comments, but it's never become personal.

This forum, however, is a completely different community, and I would have one particular problem with being a mod here.

CandyMan would get my vote. I too think we need more people with different viewpoints here.

Mods should be able to spell IMO and proven trolls who think they are funny and have been banned multiple times should never become mods.
