Through the eerie narrative openning sequence, comes the story of Matilda Dixon, aka, "The Tooth Fairy."

In the new horror thriller, called Darkness Falls, tells the story of
Matilda Dixon, "the Tooth Fairy," has hung over the town of Darkness Falls. Unjustly accused of a brutal crime, the kindly old woman, known as the Tooth Fairy, was savagely slaughtered by a mad rabble one night.

There are those who say her vengeful spirit hovers over the town, just waiting to pounce on anyone who sees her in the dark.

It happened to young Kyle. One night he saw Matilda and, though he managed to escape, his mother was murdered. Or was it just a hallucination?

Haunted by his painful memories of that night, and plagued by guilt, Kyle, played by newcomer Chaney Kley has never allowed himself to be in the dark since.

He returns to town to see his childhood sweetheart Caitlin, played by Buffy's Emma Caulfield, whose nine-year-old brother Michael another newcomer, Lee Cormie, is having the same nightmares that drove Kyle to insanity.

After a few sightings, Kyle realizes that Matilda's evil spirit was no boogieman bedtime story. She is real and out for blood.

Believe me, it had chills running up my spine.

Which brings us to the gist of story, in a edge of your seat thriller. In a cross between Candyman and Freddy. Darkness falls would be appreciated by horror buffs everywhere.

I had hands over my eyes at all times.

Darkness Falls is rated PG13 for language and violence.

Opens: (US): January 24, 2003

My rating: an 7.5 out of 10.

That face when he uncovers his face from the covers almost made me shit my pants. Movie looks excellent so far, thanks for the link MG.

big thanks for the link, the movie looks like it could be pretty good. i think it's great that they put the first 10 minutes up there, its a lot more effective than the trailers for this movie imo.

hah- kids want violence- get them sick of it at a young age, then they won't be looking for it when they're older- providing them with panzy-ass kangaroos and other shit like that just makes them want to beat the shit outta the homos that make it..... well maybe the kids dont, - but i sure as hell do!

I luuuuuuuuurrrrrrvvvvveeee Emma Caulfield so this is right up there on my list of films to watch but given that its not out in the UK for months and the current releases are...well...poor i think i'll hold off. Cheers for the review tho papa chief. I'm more excited over this one now. I had visions of the crap that was Valentine but it looks like my fears have been unfounded.

looks like ima have to dis agree w/ you here moviegod...

i'll admit the movie made me soil myself a few times, and it is a good old fashioned horror flick, but it was just.. well.. gay

another thing is that how the lights just coincidently turned off at the exact moment they were running from this being, kinda a little corny if you ask me

just didnt tickle my fancy..
