Freezing with maven movies

If somebody out there is having this problem please let me know.
Anyways...Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow and The Forgotten both seem to freeze on my dvd player. With Sky Captain it was CD1 and The Forgotten happened on Cd2 at 5, 11,15 and 20min which sometimes after a minute or so would continue but at other times it would just stop all together. I tried burning at 8X but same thing in the same spots.
I am burning right off the .cue files.
Anyone know why this is happening?

ive never had any probs wit maVen rls's its prob ur dvd player, do u have any probs wit any other SVCDs, try different medias

nope...just those two which are both from maven, so i was hoping someone else has had the same problem.

I know some players struggle with the higher bitrates of SVCD - maybe some of maven's releases have a bit rate that sometimes goes higher than your player can cope with... It may be worth testing one of your "bad" burns on another DVD player.

Just makes me wonder if it is my dvd player why its only happening on disk 2 but not disk 1...and when it happens its not like it is in a action scene.

Only ever had that prob when i used to use fireburner. your not burning with it are you ? if so try something els - like mounting the cue with daemon tools & burning with clone disc 2 disc.

Exactly right. I've tried at least 6 different DVD players and this would be true.

Also, try burning it at 4x. I've noticed this helps on higher bitrate SVCD releases between the different DVD players.

Thanks for all the replies...it seems as though my dvd player cannot seem to read cd-r's very well anymore...but it has no problem reading dvd's. Someone told me that it is harder for the reader to read the cd-r's vs. dvd's. Went out and bought a cheapo dvd player and everything plays fine. Not going to waste big bucks on dvd players that are only good for a couple of years.
