Comments section

We're here to talk about audio, video, and film ratings on each release.

I personally don't give a fuck what gets nuked, and for what, as long as i get a version of the film that's of a quality i deem to be viewable.

If something's been nuked for whatever reason, i'd love to hear about it, just in case some planks forgot to cut out the commercials or something (hehe...) but we're here to rate the release.

I don't care if CTP decided to release stuff as svcd instead of vcd, if they're ignoring labelling rules or whatever. If FRA's release had been nuked, this could've been a proper. If they'd internal'd it, it'd have stuck to scene rules. CTP aren't ones for sticking to rules, and we all know that here, so why complain about it? They don't do TS for the races, they do it every now and again to stir stuff up. They're still up there with the big boys. They share the wealth.

What i'm saying here is that people already get slapped by the mods for sucking up rls groups' asses, and for general chatter that has nothing to do with rating etc. Why not extend that slapping to people moaning about whether things have been nuked or not? Whether they should have been or not?

Things often get nuked for reasons other than quality, like now, so why does nuking matter? SURE, say it's been nuked, and why, but don't argue about the nuke. If it's been nuked for a reason that won't affect your enjoyment of the release, you know you'll be able to get it anyway if you like, so don't moan.

99% of the people here aren't affected by nukes anyway. usenet doesn't nuke. Neither does bittorrent. I hear kazaa has strict rules though. :P

I completely agree with your point of view... with one caveat.

The scene rules do exist, they are generally adhered to by the release groups, and they do serve a purpose. Groups like CTP need to follow the rules. How much difference would it have made for them to *internal* that release?

Also, Anybody that has been doing this for a while knows that you need to check the quality of the samples/reviews/ratings before downloading 1 1/2 GB. I for one am not going to waste my bandwidth downloading a shitty release, when there is a better one out there...

As for the 'review' threads of the releases... I agree with mrlipring... keep it to reviews, and post bitches about the scene somewhere else.

I wasn't debating the scene rules at all. I agree with most of them. They're irrelevant *here* though, and that's my point.

My point is that this is a site to rate releases on their quality, not BErate groups on their behaviour.

Most people here couldn't give a rat's ass whether CTP follow the rules, and half of the members probably don't know what internal means, and they don't HAVE to.

I think we should just get rid of the Comments section altogether. I think it's the worst part of the website.

'course ... then our domain name wouldn't make very much sense. :\

lol. It's the most misunderstood part at least. The most abused.

People not voting correctly, people arguing in the thread, all that shit.

what if:

we only let people with over a hundred posts rate things...

Or if we banned certain individuals from rating...

I know neversoft's (ironically) being quite soft on people, posting the rules rather than bending people over, but that WILL get tiring for him eventually. Maybe it's time to start getting heavy-handed?

The threads where the rules have been posted [Ihave[/I] been slightly better behaved. I agree with you about the minimum post count though, I've suggested it in the past (although I suggested a 20 post minimum) but I'm told it would be a bastard to implement.

(for what it's worth, it would be nice to automatically stuff the rules at the top of the threads too)

That'd help a bit, i reckon. A lot of these arses don't read the whole thread though, so if it got past 1 page long, it'd be useless. Guess that's where you start giving people warnings and stuff. At least putting 'em on "the list".
