Strange problem
ok, first off I know I'm not the only one who uses torrents on here. Get this though.
I usually use utorrent 1.6.1 which has always worked perfectly, No problems.
I am running Vista with 1.5gb's/ram 2400+ AMD Yeah it's a fantastic computer. I can't afford anything better. Should run Video fine right? Well it should at least.
Appz I use to view video. #1 being VLC. from time to time WMP.
I recently just had 768mb's/ram Video has been playing choppy with vista. I figured It was just the ram. I bought a 1gb stick and threw it in my power house of a pc, It was playing video much better. In the past few days I decided to download a few things, Remember I'm using utorrent! While running utorrent or any other torrent client my video plays choppy, or stutters every few minutes, I end the process or just close the client out and my video plays perfect.
I could understand if I was running HD content, but I'm just playing Xvid files, for example Heroes ep 4 350mb's or close to that size. .VOB files play the same way.
I don't really think it can be the the speed of my pc or the ram. Hell I was playing Xvid/Divx, and DVD's on my ooooolllllllllldddddddd P3 450mhz Viao with a whopping 128mbits of ram.
Anyone got any ideas of what is causing this. and why this is happening?

Actually it slows the whole pc down. I can't download anything, and use the pc. It's horrible. I can't use ANY torrent client, I tried, ABC, Azurues, and Utorrent, Bit Tornado.
Tried different versions of each program.
I can't figure out what is causing the problem. The Client(s) aren't using a lot of resources.

Wow, Get this shit. Fucking Avast was causing the problem. I don't run my Anti-v program at all unless I need it. Meaning It doesn't run in the background or so I thought.
When I installed Avast I went to the MSconfig and disabled it from starting up with the pc. So I thought there was no part of it running in the background. I guess I was wrong. Certain processes are still running I guess.
I guess Avast has a p2p guard and it was maxing out the cpu when running utorrent. Even though Avast isn't running.
I have been working on this problem all day. It's past my bed time. I'm just glad I got it fixed.

Glad we could help!
Why not just turn Avast down a little?

I like Avira.
A thread with a happy ending, this is what VCDQ is all about

sounds like the running process was avast's db creator. it runs as a background process and constantly updates itself unless you kill it manually.
shouldn't this thread be closed by now...
