It does go out of synch, half way through, which is a pain, but it should be easily fixable.

This is still amazing for me, still seeing it at the cinema though, but have to watch this.

It does look like an analogue capture though, but is good on the whole, and sound if great too, apart from the synch problem.

Property Of MGM watermark every so often, its small and discreet, and no B/W bits i can see.

8/9/?

Thats as i know i can sort the sync thing, if you cant or wont, then drop the sound down to 5

There's a glitch at 46:56 that throws it out on sync, hope they rerip the screener and release a "proper"(or up the full dvd) cos this looks quality.

Posted by vegasguy on 12-21-2006 10:59 PM:

hey now,

Just got done watching this, good movie and nice early Xmas gift. As stated before there is out of sync on the movie. In VLC this is an easy fix by pressing Ctrl and K to offset the audio, you need to go at 350ms.

Other then that a few watermarks but not that noticeable.

V: 10
A: 8 with the audio fix

It has been propered now....

Rocky.Balboa.XViD.DVDScreener-Distill.Redemption80.Fixed

And in the NFO it says......

R i P P E R ' S N O T E S . . .

This just a quick sync fix i did for this to enable me to watch it, and thought id up it while i
was away watching this.

The Video glitches are still there, a few that you barely notice, and the main one, that caused the
Sync on the original Release

But sound is back in Sync, and I hope everyone is as happy as me to see this so early, shame for
Stallone though

That's not a Proper, its a quick thing I did for people who didn't want, or know how to use Vub to fix it themselves.

Im hoping there is a real Proper soon, and i'm hoping the problem isn't with the source.

Posted by Peoples-Agent on 12-22-2006 12:57 AM:

LOL .....

Way the NFO just got amended dude, it looked quite official.

It's already going around that it's a legit scene release hahahahhaha

Good work though dude, thanks for doing that. Look forward to it.

EDIT: I might get AVIMux out and go that route then compare the two. lol

Hopefully someone fixes this or puts out the DVD-R because this is the 1 film I've been lookin' forward to seeing for 3 months.

is the official fix out ?

Posted by akasmiler on 12-22-2006 01:44 AM:

i dunno if i'll get told off for this or not - but it's easily fixed

right guys - the easy way and it will take you all of about 3-5 mins in total

http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/
for some info on the program

right then
Step 1: download this http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/..._GUI-1.17.7.zip

step 2 extract the zip into it's own folder (i just called it avimux gui)

step 3 click exe file

step 4 drag the avi rocky file into the top section

step 5 highlight it

step 6 click generate data source from files

step 7 2 parts appear video and audio, select audio

step 8 on the right hand side it says delay (ms) enter 180

step 9 click start, select a save as file name and location

step 10 click save, wait around 60 seconds - full in sync copy of rocky balboa

how easy could that be

The thing is that, that delays the whole movie not just the part that is out of sync.

From sample:
V: 9
A: 8
M: ? But probably GREAT!

Didn't have the heart to download more than a sample. Have to go to the theatres so my ten bucks can help give Stallone some cred at the box office. First time that has ever happened to me. I'm scared.

Posted by Redemption1980 on 12-22-2006 03:21 AM:

akasmiler post does and doesn't work, it obviously adds a 180ms delay to the second half of the movie which is fine and it now doesnt look as bad, but its still not perfect, and is still off, but now its watchable.

But it also makes the first half of the movie slightly out of sync as well, not all would notice, but i did, and so did my mate, who usually misses these things.

But it is a nice quick compromise, although AVI-Mux can cause problems with some DivX DVD Players, so you might be better off doing the same thing with VDubMod.

Posted by Psychoboys on 12-22-2006 03:47 AM:

Posted by RipBlippley on 12-22-2006 04:33 AM:

Just got done watching the entire rls and it's incredible (for being so soon!). I used vlc player and changed the audio to 350ms at the time of the glitch and it played perfectly in sync the rest of the way.... so people are making too much of a fuss about the issue. It's so easy to fix.

The fix sucks, it puts the beginning out of sync. I used that program above that the guy posted but instead of 150 i used 120, it is still out of sync but better then the rest i think.

Get a xvid codec, different than divx.

As far as the Movie:

V: 8
A:8 till it goes out of sync
M: I'm still going to the theatre to watch.

And the fix puts the whole movie out of sync. VLC temp fix until proper. unless you don't mind watching from a computer monitor. I for one do.

Posted by bobbish on 12-22-2006 06:16 AM:

i did some tinkering, and to properly fix:
Rocky.Balboa.XViD.DVDScreener.FiX-iND

open fix.vcf in notepad, and replace what's in there with this:

VirtualDub.Open("distill-rocky.avi",0,0);
VirtualDub.video.SetRange(0,3288035);
VirtualDub.video.SetMode(0);
VirtualDub.SaveAVI("part1.avi");
VirtualDub.video.SetRange(2816147,0);
VirtualDub.audio.SetInterleave(1,0,1,0,290);
VirtualDub.SaveAVI("part2.avi");
VirtualDub.Close();
VirtualDub.Open("part2.avi",0,0);
VirtualDub.video.SetMode(0);
VirtualDub.audio.SetInterleave(1,0,1,0,0);
VirtualDub.Close();
VirtualDub.Open("part1.avi",0,0);
VirtualDub.video.SetMode(0);
VirtualDub.Append("part2.avi");
VirtualDub.SaveAVI("distill-rocky-fixed.avi");
VirtualDub.Close();

whomever wrote it was a little sloppy.

that should now sync perfect

Posted by bobbish on 12-22-2006 06:29 AM:

if you don't have access to that fix here's what you do.

1. download nandub (http://ndub.sourceforge.net/) and the xvid codec (if you don't already have it installed)
2. put distill-rocky.avi inside the same folder you extract nandub to.

3. create a file called fix.bat with this inside:

nandub /sfix.vcf /x
del part1.avi
del part2.avi
del part2-fixed.avi

4. create a file called fix.vcf and put what i wrote in my previous post inside it.

5. run fix.bat

All the above has nothing to do with a Telecine, this is by no stretch of the imagination and im shocked someone like yourself who isnt a total noob on here, could come up with such crap.

Bluish tints, dodgy contrast and certainly not cigarette burns have nothing to do with Telecines, they can all be on DVD Screeners too, sometimes even on Retail stuff, though rare these days.

This has MGM watermarks and biggest clue, is full perfect stereo sound, which upmixes to 5.1 very nicely.

If anything this looks more like an analogue capture than a direct rip, but considering i was hunting for the Cam when i found this, im more than happy

I don't know why people are rating this a 9 or 10. The color is washed out and I can see macroblocks.

Audio: 8
Standard audio

Looks great on my TV, even viewing it on my 21" monitor I'm not seeing any problems with the video.

Didnt play on the standalone came up all blocky.

V / 8 typical dvdscr with property of every now and again

A / 9 again it was the fixed version so no sync issues

M / 10 It is rocky and it was def better than Rocky V which isnt that hard but again it is a rocky movie

The video for this rls is easily 8 - 10 depending on how picky you are... but no way does this rls deserve a measly 6 for video! I guess you'd only rate something a 10 if it was hi-def!

Bluish tints, dodgy contrast and certainly not cigarette burns have nothing to do with Telecines, they can all be on DVD Screeners too, sometimes even on Retail stuff, though rare these days.

Why on earth would there be cig burns on a retail release? And I don't know why TCs always have crappy contrast and blue tints, but that is certainly my experience.

Either way, the video on this is far from perfect..

Have no idea, my DVD of equilibrium has 1 and i remember seeing 48 Hours on TV a few years back, and it had about 4-5 cig Burns.

TC's and DVD Screeners generally have the same flaws, and screeners can and do have burns too

I guess it depends what you're watching it with. It may look good on an analog TV. I watched it on a 42" HD LCD, and the colors are washed out, the overall picture is foggy, and there are many macroblocks and color seperation. Even on my 19" LCD I can see this. I don't know if that's how the actual DVD Screener looks like or if it was a poor encode.

Posted by ROUSTABOUT on 12-23-2006 08:34 PM:

V:9
A:5(applied fix..upgraded to a 9)
M:8.5

I agree, and the DVDR has even more blocks, and is washed out, but its only a screener, and should be judged on that, something like Children Of Men DVDScr is a 10 for video, so this is an 8, if this was a retail rip it would get a 6, but its not.

Posted by AssKing on 12-26-2006 09:46 AM:

I've now watched this once on my 19" HD widescreen LCD computer monitor and twice on my 20" analog TV.

Video-9 looked great to me. Colors were nice, images not too pixelated and the "Property of MGM" message didn't appear too frequently.

Audio-9 Can't really find any faults.

Movie-10 I can't believe how fucking great this movie was. I'm not even a Rocky fanatic, but this was easily one of the five best movies of 2006. If you love movies you need to download this and give it a chance. Just terrific writing, acting and directing and a nice way to close the Rocky series.

Watched the fixed version of this last night

v-9
a-8
m-6

not a bad movie.

So many complaints these days even when a new group with seemingly LOADS of potential (in these times of the worst releases ever seen...) people are just slating them..
Yep. there is a sync issue but it is easily fixed with the -iND NFE fix or whatever they called it.
I remember the old rocky movies as being brilliant but, well, i was a kid then.

VIDEO: 8
AUDIO: 8 (after correcting the timing with the fix)
MOVIE: Hmm... predictable and well, like the others... a measly 2!
