How many of you have gone over the 250gig cap this month?

Here are my current stats:

received: 97.30 GB (43.3%)
transmitted: 127.27 GB (56.7%)
total: 224.57 GB

Comcast is going to kick my ass soon.

I don't check and thankfully my ISP doesn't appear to check either... I know I downloaded at least 100gb the other day in just 10 releases the GF wanted. That's ignoring the TV shows and Wii games I've been grabbing.

I'm guessing (based on your upload) that you use torrents - that probably paints a bigger target on you, try "something else"

I get worried that I may go over (I have Comcast too), and have no idea I have used so far this month. I would say I'm just about over, but I can definitely NOT afford to go over! Before they started the 250gb cap I used 400gb and got a nice call from Comcast. They told me that I had to slow down with my downloading/upping or they would stop my service. Ugh.

You already answered your question when comcast phoned you and told you to slow down,

I know ntl/virgin have software that are constantly checked for spikes(major bandwidth use), and they now monitoring speeds as well, the reason for this is the hacked ntl internet boxes with download speeds of "up to" 20mb unrestricted they may not know your address but they can tell where the junction box is that is being abused at great speed and send out an engineer to investigate

I've no idea how much i've downloaded/uploaded , but i've download a few movies , tvshows , albums and left them to upload + been on numerous website and xbox live.

It'll proberly be alot.

in 3 days since i restarted the comp, 8 gigs down and near 40 up, that is only my torrent total, im nearing 1/2 of my downs in other sectors.

Luckily the USA ISPs arent asses atm, but im sure it is coming, and its gonna hit my neighbor hard

Not fucking with you dude. I am just really interested in how you forgot how to leech, did you used to just download mirc and put it on your AOL or was it more complicated than that?

When I used Windows, I would use mirc and command codes. It was a little tedious. Hopefully, today, there is an easier way. I couldn't stand typing in all of the xdcc - / get packet #4 blah blah crap.

transmitted: 130.80 GB (55.3%)
total: 236.63 GB

By the end of this month, I should be about 12 gigs under the 250gig limit. But as soon as November 1st hits, I'm going to fuckin' pwn Comcast. I have a lot of catching up to do.

No it's not. Have you seen Ninja Scroll, Akira, or Wings of Honneamise? Each of those have deep story lines that only an adult, or perhaps a smart teenager, could follow.

Seriously, there is a lot of useless anime out there. I try to avoid most of that. But for someone who has loved literature his entire life (books, plays, T.V. and movies) it sure is great to find a whole source of literature where I cannot guess ahead of time how it will end. Good anime is more intelligent than anything on T.V. in America. (With the possible exception of Babylon 5, which is the most intelligent show on American T.V.)

I will agree that 250GB is a shitton to download/upload a month, closest ive come in a month is 180 gigs. and i was almost trying to go over, downloading random internal releases, nonsense HD content (10-20Gb packs).

I added up the torrents that I have cued up right now, and I have about 42 gigs of downloading to do on November 1st. That isn't too bad. And if I seed each to 1:1, my transfer total will be 86 gigs, which still leaves a lot of room for youtube, porn, and other miscellaneous activities.

Has anyone used Net limiter? I used to use it to cap uploads.

I've never had a problem with my ISP capping upload/download speeds. I don't see how they can do that much anymore with everything going to the digital format.

Later Nov. Xbox will be having there fall update giving us netflix streaming of movies which will totally effing rock. with my ISP giving me a speed boost this month, I can't wait for it.

Yes, ever since the new owners of AOL-UK started throttling medium and heavy users.

That's the least of our worries. Carphone Warehouse is alternating between throttling bandwidth to half dialup speed and blocking file sharing apps altogether. I just used the last of my bandwidth allocation for this billing period downloading a non-scene DVD9 of Incredible Hulk and it turned out to be a fucking pan & scan version! There has to be other companies in your area that offer unlimited bandwidth. You can download large files that are legal, hell stream netflix all day long. It uses up the bandwidth, To cap that is unfair. If you cap the bandwidth how can you play games online if you surpass that? You can't.

You guys having this capping issues, are any of you in the States? All of the companies I've heard of here in the States don't cap that shit.

There is but switching ISP in the UK is like pulling teeth. it can't be done without the co-operation of the existing ISP.

No, they put what's called a "Tag" on the phone line and it can't be removed without the correct code which only they have access to. Even if you succeed in switching they've been known to continue billing ex-customers for a service they no longer provide.

Yeh you have to get em to remove the tag then get the mac address which is good for 30 days to be able to migrate to another isp
