nice release, same source as their lilo & stitch releases thus the same counters/serials/red lines, this time they blurred the serials instead of putting a huge black bar over them tho, way better imho hehe

Great release for the speed, now all we can wish for is a screener from tcf

Posted by crapper on 12-05-2002 04:32 AM:

and its ws..
1 timer op top
1 in the other corner something else
1 down right a removed serial (so a blur)
1 down left do not duplicate text..

but ws..
sound and picture very nice..

AND DONT POST IT U DONT REVIEW

Gee, I think we under-cooked the cake

This has got to be the WEIRDEST release I've seen since I've been coming here.

Have any of you watched any of it? ----> BEWARE <----

Nearly half of the 15 minutes I saw was incomplete animation. As in: black & white drawings, like you'd find on a "making of" special, but with normal sound. Every other shot seemed to alternate between completed animation and in-progress animation.

This is a workprint to the extreme== all four corners are filled with counters or notices, there's a red line going through it occasionally (ala Signs), AND it is nowhere near complete. I have no idea why TWC released this, except as a curio. (Also, where were the warnings in the nfo??)

Cool animated TWCiSO intros, though, including a (partial) coming attraction trailer for The Two Towers.

Like I said, WEIRD.

Could this be the reason why there are no sample jpegs?

Thanks for that great review brr8760...

I had just started downloading it, but I think I'll change my mind and wait for another release...

EDIT:

Well I did download it since it took me less then an hour (fast pub), burned both CD's, watched the first 10 minutes of the first CD and got very annoyed by the switching of the black & white animation to color. I'll just have to wait for a better release I guess... thanks for the effort either way.

not worth the download unless you're watchin it yourself..
brr8760 beat me to my review but i can varify his comments.

He is right...weird

Posted by petrocs on 12-05-2002 06:53 AM:

what I mean by watchig it yourself is that your kids arent expecting you to give it to them and you are going to watch it cause you're curious

Posted by petrocs on 12-05-2002 07:11 AM:

maybe someone can color in the unfinished characters with some type of animation program and call it a proper..

petrocs,

I can do that, just as soon as I've finished your cover for this release.

Posted by eST0r on 12-05-2002 02:13 PM:

I believe this is an extremely rare movie release. Workprints on some occasions are better than the actual movie, I love how this goes from done to WIP... It's one of the few vcd releases that are worth the effort if you enjoy workprints. TWCiSO is the one for the rare stuff

Unreleasable tosh, TWCISO the only other release I got of yours was signs and that was shit too. UTI's intro was better and they also cammed a 2 towers trailer (Hopefully a sign of things to come) Picture not that bad but the severe serials and incompleteness of this release are unacceptable. I know workprints aren't perfect but this is taking it too far (Reminds me of men in black)

This Movie Is Flop!!!!!

I Really Think This Movie Sucks But Hey Thats My Opinion....

Posted by Zipomatic on 12-06-2002 06:56 AM:

If you have seen either The Rookie or Signs w/p then you will know what to expect with this release (counter-wise) However as mentioned before, the whole "sketch animation" parts of the movie (which at my guess are around 50% of the film) are annoying.

The "proper" parts of the movie look fine, but the sketched spoil it a lot, unless you are willing to put up with that, I would give it a miss and wait for a good TS.

And the Workprint seems around 5 minutes shorter than the Cam.... weird.

Posted by fluffykiwi on 12-06-2002 04:18 PM:

i love this release, especially for the sketchy parts.
I love to see work in progress and buy this port of stuff when i can, usually in special editions as bonus material though.
As mentioned a lot of this movie is still at the quick animated sketch stage so I'd grab it more as an interesting bit of film rather than to watch the movie. The counters are very large and fill a lot of the screen.
I hope we see more like this, but as I said as bonus material not to watch full films.
Thank you for releasing it for animation nuts like myself.
