-- Enterprise S02E01 *PDTV* *XviD* - TV - Cheetah-TV (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=13364)
So it seems FoV start quoting they're using PDTV, now Cheetah are saying it too.
You both suddenly have access to Sky's raw streams now?
Somehow I find that hard to believe. Hey, tell you what - I'll do a really nice analogue capture and call it PDTV - then you prove me wrong. Oh wait, you can't..
Sigh.
it is possible to do pdtv from sky. and if you think about it its possible, but i wont spell it out for you as then every tom dick and harry will start to do it.
the reason why most look like a normal cap is because sky use low bitrates, and a wierd res (plus its fs too
), the bitrates are sometimes lower than bbc
most people seem to have no clue on the subject, yet still exert their opinion (this is not directed at you), eg. the other day, another groups members swear that FoV, NBS, tNB all have PDTV streams with bitrates 10mbit/s or above which is not true. Based on this false knowlege he claimed all PDTV from europe should be nuked. This means that all the Enterprise season1 PDTV eps done from DTT/DS should be nuked, as the bitrate on channel 4 for these eps were only ~3.5 mbit/s average. What a shame that most people don't have a clue on this subject.
And for a final time, PDTV IS possible from digital satellite in the uk.

I've never said UK Sat PDTV isn't possible, I'm merely questioning some group's claims that they have it.
Would you provide source (transport stream) material (say a couple of seconds) of a few channels to let everyone know once and for all that your group does indeed have access? I'd put forward BBC2Scotland, SkyOne, C4, and LivingTV as a wide selection of channels to test.
There's no reason why you wouldn't, and not doing just enforces many people's beliefs that some groups are just "saying" they have it (i'm not actually sure which group you're from, so I'm not pointing fingers).
Be nice to get samples from every group who claim they have it, settle this once and for all - stopping site nukers killing encodes for the wrong reasons...
:: whilst im sure the group wont tell you here, i know for a fact they use proper PDTV hardware to capture. its not hard to acquire the cards these days, especially in the uk.-pHo
To pho's comment - it actually is VERY hard to acquire the cards to do it properly, hence my challenge. Remember there is no CAM for Videoguard, so you can't use any bog standard DVB-S card.
Jackie.Chan.Adventures.S02E22.Agent.Tag.PDTV.SVCD-Cheetah-TV was from Fox Kids. I dont see Fox Kids on FreeView. It was pred ages ago. I think thats the end of this pointless discussion for people who think they know it all.

See, you're avoiding giving source material and just "saying" its PDTV from UK Sat. Like I said, anyone could capture a Sky programme and *call* it PDTV.
Why are you so reluctant to give source examples?
I think this just proves it even more - sorry. You're not convincing anyone here, especially the nukers amongst us. Do the scene a favour and prove us all wrong then we/you can get on with our lives
And I've looked at Cheetah encodes (not that one specified) and there's a LOT of characteristics that lean towards them being analogue. I'd go into details, but then since you're not I won't
I guess this thread is closed then now.
amen hehe
