FTF - SCREENER ? WOW

I usually do not post on here as you can see this is my first post. I just wanted to say that yes I am a leecher so I will not try to piss anyone off.

I have downloaded numerous FTF Releases in the past. Although the quality has not been good I do appreciate the time and effort they put into the releases. In some peoples opinion, speed is better than quality. Personally, I would prefer to wait for a quality release to come out. Therefore, for the past few months I have waited a few weeks tops to download a screener. Yes even for LOTR TTT.

Again I want to thank FTF for their efforts and keep them coming. I know one day I will find something that I may want to download from your group. Technology is getting better these days. Hopefully the cams will also. Thanks for the screener.

:: could you please enlighten to me why you posted praise for FTF in a thread for VCDC ?

Bad Aspect ratio isn't a big problem, its a minor annoyance and anyone with decent TV's or DVD players can correct the problem.

SVCD's can't have an Anamorphic flag, so i encode all my SVCD's stetched since i have a Widescreen TV and they look much better than way.

I dont know how this release is done as i dont want it, but the AR problems only arise because a lot of people on here, are either watching it on their monitor or they're cheapo DVD player and little 4:3 TV.

I know i'll probably get flamed for this, but there really is too much moaning over little things that can be easily fixed and are preferable if u have decent equipment.

well, fortunately, despite your opinions, the scene does in fact have standards, much to the benefit of the many people who cannot afford a 43" widescreen television.

because at 480x480 or 480x576 square pixels aren't used, usually when watching on a monitor svcd's look stretched unless they're viewed FS. this one looks stretched even in FS. the thing is 4:3 and not letterboxed. whether or not your dvd player/tv can "fix" that is immaterial. aside from that, the video bitrate is 2.52Mbps, which is 2,642,411 bps -- out of spec. that in itself is enough to earn it a nuke on many sites.

in any case, there's really no good reason for the scene not to enforce certain standards. after all, it's not like there aren't a million groups ready to jump in and release something, if they don't; these days, there are plenty of groups, and no real reason to take a dvdrip that isn't done right. it's certainly better than accepting it, and just keeping it until the next version comes out, and then discarding it & grabbing the new one. that just fosters & encourages the whole 38-releases-of-everything problem.

and finally, this rip would have been nuked most places even if there weren't a problem with the AR or bitrate, since it's less than a week and a half to retail release of this film.

The quality of this release is awful for a DVD screener. Its more like a low quality workprint release.

Timer at the top, bad ar (you get the feeling of being drunk and looking up at the ceiling!!) and the sound is awful. Loads of scratches and scrapes....

With the retail release due soon, save the time and hassle and don't download it. It's rightly been nuked!
