Signs.

Was I the only one who thought this movie didn't live up to all the hoopla and rave reviews? To me it seemed like a B rated Sci-Fi channel movie without all the gore. Yeah, the acting was good, but the plot...well...it was lacking in my opinion. First thing, the aliens are hurt by water, right? Well, last time I checked, the earths atmosphere is made of water. But wait you say! Thats just a plot flaw! But you wait! Listen! Also, if the aliens didn't go near big sources of water, why did they try and attack Mel Gibsons house? It had glasses of water everywhere! You think these super smart aliens would've noticed this...Also, another stupid thing that made me wanna kick M. Night Shamizlayngtina in the face was when they were in the basement hiding from the aliens and Mel Gibson decides its time to bust out father/son story time. What's up with that? Shouldn't he try and portect his family, not tell his son a story?(which he probly has already told before )...yeah, theres my rant about Signs.

Don't get Sven started

And yes alot of people didn't like this movie. But I enjoyed it and am a proud owner of it....Ahh I dunno

/me walks away.

the first time i watched it i was confused cus i couldnt figure out if i liked it or not, might sound strange. i agree though, the aliens were clearly not thought out well, but then the aliens were just the "backdrop" if you will, about the true story which was about mel gibson and his family

No he didn't know what he was getting into dc_man.

Your points are flawed, and on the director's commentary Mr. Shamalayn points out that possibly these aliens stole these ships, or maybe they were just the mindless figher aliens... and the smart ones were still on board the ship...

Also, why did he turn it into story time? Because the man thought he was going to be dead in about 5-10 minutes and he wanted to make sure his son knew he loved him. Would you like your last 5 minutes on earth to be spent struggling or would you like spending it becoming closer with your son, maybe telling him something he's never heard before. I'm really suprised you pick these scenes to complain about considering I think they are one of the most releastic touches of drama in the movie.

The entire plot is amazing if you ask me. Its what would happen if something like this happened, a worldwide event shown threw the eyes of one small family, which is what made this movie absolutely extrodinary. How many "end of the world" movies have you never had a bigger glimpse into the rest of the world than you would have if the event was really happeneing, and you were sitting in your own home watching CNN. Genius, genius writing. I think your opinions are understandable, but ultimately wrong.

One time, my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news, it was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week he did it again, different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room! So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....

Well, I got him started. I am pleased you liked this movie, but I don't think I could watch the movie again to get the directors commentary. I just didn't like it. And you did shed some light on the "plot flaws" I pointed out but I still would have to disagree somewhat Pfft! Lets all go watch Interstate 60!!

all of shyamalans films are deeply flawed (dont get me started on sixth sense, and unbreakable? the entire concept is dumb) so i guess you just have to watch it and forgive

i haven't seen signs yet.. keep meaning to tho...

I hated it. I disagree that the acting was good. It wasn't at all. Tell me when you've seen anyone in real life carrying on a conversation like Joe Friday Dragnet style? That's how EVERYONE talked in this film!

"Swing Away."? WTF? that's the dumbest thing ever.

I'll post my complete bitch list on this movie later.

i thought the film was a bit luke warm not enough action rather dull.i am not rather keen on films where yo have avoid blinking your eyes incaseyou miss the exciting event of the whole movie.
a damp squid compared to x-files.i think fire in the sky was a far better exteresteral type film.

i've tried to watch signs 4 times, and every time i fall asleep around the 15-20 min mark. that movie was just stupid. i dont understand how a being with the technology to travel across the galaxy could get stuck in a closet with a wooden door. Also, why didnt the sensors on their interstellar space ships pick up the presence of water on earth during initial analysis of the planet they were about to invade?

i also hated sixth sense, and unbreakable made me want to staple my eyelids shut. i'm taking bets on haley joel osment coming out of the closet by the time he's 19. that kid has 'cock gargler' written across his forehead. not that there's anything wrong with being a butt snorkler, but that kid just seems to have a lot of potential to take the hershey highway in the near future.

I thought Unbreakable had a fantastic concept! THe idea that there are superheros among us? Damn cool! Probably the only time a Superhero film was taken REALLY seriously!

Signs was dissapointing and dull.

The only reason it was "taken seriously" is because the orig trailors that were shown confused the fuck out of everyone. It hinted NO superheros at all. I walked out of this movie at the theaters. Would NEVER watch it again.

Has to be the worst story two good actors have chosen in years.

Posted by commiewop on 02-03-2003 07:31 AM:

6th sense was a decent movie, don't know if it was oscar nomination worthy but it was up there, only thing that made this movie was the ending, i think 8 people saw that coming

Unbreakable i hated after seeing it in the theater, hated it the 2nd time, after that it started to grow on me for some reason, i think "THe idea that there are superheros among us?"(404) is what i like about it

Signs, saw it in the theater haven't seen it since cause i didn't like it, but i didn't hate it, i had trouble with all the stupid common sense things people did, like the pantry scene, how about getting a couple guys with guns and go take a look, or instead of barricading your family in the living room, how about barricading the shit out of one bedroom with 1 window and 1 door.

and that's my rant for this evening
