I Need Urgent Help With Dvd Player

i have a bush dvd142tv combi,it plays vcd ok. but plays no sound on svcd,have been told to hack to multi-region to fix problem,
i followed instructions to hack player which seems to work for other people,but not mine!!if there is anyone that can help me
i would be very grateful,
