Review: Cannibal Holocaust (1979)

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0078935

Cannibal Holocaust.

The story begins.. modern america.. an interest groes in tribes in other parts of the world that still live like savages..and cannibals.
enter 4 documentary film makers.. they decide that even though other film makers have tried to capture the tribes in action and not returned from their journey. that they will be the ones to bring the world up close and personal to the cannibalistic way of life..low and behold 2 months pass.. and still no word from the crew. so
Professor Harold Monroe decides to go on a search/rescue to the world of cannibals.. from this point in the movie on.. him.. and 3 guides travel the dangerous cannibal infested jungles in search of the film crew or their film.. ::WARNING:: this movie is not for the faint of heart. for along these adventures.. many many graphic scenes of cannibalism.. many brutal graphic rapes.. and when you see the little saying that "no animals were harmed in the making of this movie" yeah.. thats not this film.. all animals you see on the screen being killed.. are actually being killed.. and you can tell from the realism.. cannibal holocasut is a much watch for any gritty or just plain gorey movie fans.. and trust me.. it delivers what it promises.. the end footage is quite graphic.. check it out.. if your stomach can handle it

my rating:
7/10 for its rawness

18months ago or so i would have disagreed with your score and given Deodato's work a 9/10.

Since then i've seen heaps better stuff thanks mainly in part to our good friends at SiCK and BLooDWEiSER and through my own findings.

Holocaust is still a classic, and one of the most notorious movies ever, but for all the wrong reasons. I used to look upon Holocaust as a marvelous piece of cinema, but now, it's a movie that just gets trashed and well, is so much weaker in comparison to other movies i have seen now.

But yes, 7/10 is a pretty much on-the-mark score and i'll go with you on that. Just make sure folks if you watch it:

1) Buy the full uncut print.
2) DON'T buy the UK R2 version as it's cut by around 7mins.
