Review: Cradle 2 Grave- (2003) with Jet Li, and DMX

As everyone knows by now, that Jet Li is teaming up with rapper turned actor DMX, who last made a successful turn in Exit Wounds with Steven Seagal, and now he makes another successful transition in the action thriller Cradle 2 the Grave with stars and rightfully so, Jet Li.

Li plays a Taiwanese Intelligence Agent brought in to help in International Kidnapping case when Bad Guy played by Karate champion Mark Dacascos kidnaps the daughter of a gang leader played by DMX. Tensions arise as both Li and DMX race against time to save his daughter.

Cradle 2 the Grave is solid in action, and if you remember from their first teaming Li/DMX, this movie is worth the price of admission as my bladder kept me glued to my seat.

The only problem I had with the film and its amount of action is the best action scenes were seen in the previews, and this time the late Aaliyah wasn't around to be in this film as well.

Cradle 2 the Grave is not a sequel, but should be entertaining for the action buff.

It was good to Mark Dascascos again as he is to cinema to what David Carradine was in the 1980's.

Cradle 2 the Grave is rated R for action, extreme violence.

My rating: a 8.5 out of 10.

Enjoyed it I did.

Movie hits theatres:February 28, 2003

jet li hasn't made one good movie since he's come to the US (except Lethal Weapon 4 which was bearable) so im not really holding up much hope, plus more rappers-who-wannabe-moviestars, and one who was in one of the worst movies of the millenium so far really doesn't make me want to go and see this. hk wireaction is so so so much better than hollywoods lame attempt at making MA movies, so i think i'll just watch from his back catalog instead....

Tom Arnold was on Conan last night (I think it was Conan) and said this movie was just like the NBA. A bunch of black guys, one white guy and one chinese guy. I nearly fell out of my chair on that one.

It looks mildly entertaining though....

I thought this movie was too similar to 'Exit Wounds' the last movie DMX starred in with Steven Segal.

He plays pretty much the same role, with the same type of movie. Now that I think about it, all DMX movies are similar.

From 'Romeo Must Die' to 'Exit Wounds' and now 'Cradle 2 The Grave', you can obviously tell he hasnt gone too far in the film industry. With the same actors played throughout all these movies, basically if you have seen one of the three, then really you dont need to see the rest, unless you're bored.

well.. for one thing.. lets get thsi out of the way.. im NOT a fan of DMX... BUT saying his role in exit wounds was the same as his role in cradle to the grave... is quite inacurate.. and saying that romeo must die is anything like exit wounds.. is an insult... exit wounds was a pile of shit.. steven seagal is a fat ass... romeo must die.. the action .. and the visuals were stunning...

now MG.. i agree that cradle to the grave is definately worth the watch.. but i liked kiss of the dragon a hell of alot better.. even though seeing jet li take on tito ortiz.. was a fun treat

I thought this movie was bland and very typical..the dialog was incredibly bad..the character directions were predictable and tired and the story was lacking a few key elements..fun and suspense to name a few. These rapper action flicks are getting tired..Half Past Dead was horrible and in the end this is just a little better version of that. Jet Li is better than this.

Rating: 3 out of 10
