What could one say but Centropy 8.5/9/?

Posted by Mystic Slippe on 02-24-2003 07:34 PM:

Dark and also has that same CTP trademark blue tint to it.

Props but.....blah.

I have not watched this... I don't really want to see the movie, but it is obviously the same camera as was used for the Shanghai Knights, and Daredevil releases.

This source is not SVCD quality. The resolution is low, and you would loose nothing by releasing it as a VCD. That is cool if it is only a two CD release, but it is just dumb to do a three CD release with this kind of source quality.

Centropy needs to get off their high-horse and encode their material in a manner appropriate to the source quality.

::"I have not watched this" do not make such findings from looking at some jpegs.. rate the release.. if you havent seen it dont comment -FuzZ

As much as I respect CTP I really do belong to what I perceive to be the minority opinion when it comes to makings SVCD's of TS's. Seriously, isn't it bordering on overkill?
Yeah, they're better, but what's the point when a vhs screener is often just around the corner?
This looks like a typical CTP SVCD TS based on the sample.
Haven't been arsed to unpack all the cd's yet.
What is it with that blue tint thingy? Anybody know?

food release 7/7/?

Didn't like the movie, but nice release compared to the latest ts's being released. Release looks grainy, and has the blue look to it. Definitly better than the SHiNA though, that one didn't look too good at all.
I don't recomment the movie, but if ya need it, download the CTP version.

Watched this one in the theatres last week... Great movie...
CTP's blue tint lives on...

In the words of Eiffel 65.. 'I'm blue, da-ba-dee-da-ba-die"
Typical blue tint, but it shouldn't take away from the story, so no real complaints from me, just observations~

Probably woulda fared alright as a VCD, but im not complaining..i set shit to download when im sleeping and whether its 800 megs or 2.5 gigs, i could care less cuz its done by the next day when i get home from my gruelling day . Anyways, im glad i skipped over watching that fish-eye rls cuz i love kevin spacey an i hope this is as good as its supposed to be.

On the Topic.Looks like a decent release except for that blue tint.
Kevin Spacey rocks and I hope he will in this one.
5/6/??

Yeah. The blue contrast on the sample makes this a no downloader for me. I remember back in the days when I used to d/l these types of movies. Then one day, my friend brought over a orginal video tape of a movie, and I was amazed at the realistic BRIGHT colors. No more crappy TS for me. Sound was ok, and the story seems interesting though for this release.

Oh...but if you want to see the Daredevil movie just because of the hype, get the SVCD version out. yeah, it has the same washed out look, but it's the best version out there.

Oh! And thank god for a moderator that FINALLY deletes crap posts. I never want to hear again "The jpg looks good" or "can't wait to see this..downloading now on my oc-45 connection from my 0 second FTP site"

I wanna see this movie and I will finish downloading this but I do agree with some of the other comments..3 cds is a bit much. This movie would've been fine as a VCD format. Its not a blockbuster like Spiderman or Dardevil so it really should've required an SVCD

7/7/?

Oh well..thanks for the fine release ctp..geez I hope they dont do Gods and Generals..that mamouth will be 6 cd's for an SVCD
I better stock up on more cd's hehe

first off, no matter how good the TS is, it should never have to be a svcd, this movie looks good, nice rip, actually glad i saved money then seeing it in the theaters, cause it was not what i expected from kevin spacey, kinda upset really in the whole end of the movie, but thats my opinion. nice job on the rls, video is a little grainy, someone tried to mention low resolution, but that wouldnt make sense, if it was the same camera (pal or ntsc minidv cam) used as with previous rips, then the res will be the same, just some more grains came through....as for it having to be 3 cds...well thats just keeping quality 113 mins, if people are upset bout that, get off your high horses and download the divx, i mean shit, people going to bitch bout spending too much time on p2p or wasting 3 cds of credits or spending 6 hours a cd just to dl the movie from over shores....wow, almost makes you want to spend the 9 bucks or higher to go see the flick, i know i would have, but i really wasnt sure bout the flick, and im glad i got to sample it before losing this weeks grocery money...who says this game is free ?, as for the svcd and vcd situation, it comes off the camera as mpeg2, while reencode to a lesser format ? there is no point, if it comes in mpeg2, then it stays in it, shit next people will want all dvdrips to be vcd....oh well

i have said before and i shall say again-just because some of us do not like svcd-for whatever reason-at the end of the day, none of us have any power of persuauion in the matter-as centropy themselves have basically said in the past-they will do what they want and if you dont like it fuck off.-personally-i am a fan of svcd as all my dvd players are capable of playing the format and also -and maybe i am wrong here-but i think the higher resolution format can actually improve the picture quality-however slightly-regardless of source.-i will no doubt get the usual mature replies on this post but then-what should i expect from some of the people on here.
anyway-as usual kevin spacey is excellent-although overall not my favourite film of his-

They could have at least kept it on 2CD@5-pass vbr with some filters instead of pushing 3CD@2-pass vbr with no filtering. Some color correction, brightness enhancements and noise reduction couldn't hurt.
