So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....

Hmmm.. I think Shamalayn is over rated.. Didn't like Signs...

Can't pick just one here's some of my favorites:
Living:
Francis Ford Coppola
Steven Spielberg
Sam Rami
Alan Parker
Wolfgang Peterson
Ken Russell
William Friedkin(or is he dead?)
Darren Aronofsky

Dead:
Alfred Hitchcock
Stanley Kubrick
Orson Wells

The Worst? Living: Michael Bay or Tony Scott
Dead: Ed Wood (the best bad movies ever)

Dead:
Kubrick, hands down
Orson Wells, a good second

Living:
Francis Ford Coppola, for gifting us with Godfather
Steven Speilberg, for visionary works

Upcoming:
Peter Jackson, Heavenly Creatures, LoTR, 3(to be 4) masterpieces out of 5 feature films is a feat in my opinion.

Can't decide.

It's either George Lucas or M. Night Shyamalan.

p.s. Signs was a great movie
(look for the Christian Symbolism)

A)Stanley Kubrick or Steven Spielberg

B)Christopher Nolan

The fact that none of you even mentioned Kevin Smith is appalling.... all 5 of his feature films are absolutely classic and a must in ANY DVD collection..... anywhere

I take issue with that. While some of Bay's films have been turds (With the exception of Bad Boys. Me loves Bad Boys ) Bay's directing ability cant be questioned. Look at Perl Harbor. Sure the film sucked balls but technically Bay did a fantastic job with the direction. Bay just needs a decent script to fully show off his talents.

In No Particular Order:
Francis Ford Coppola (for movies including Apocalypse Now)
Martin Scorsese
Steven Spielberg (has a great vision, most of his movies are way beyond anything that other directors even attempt)
Kevin Smith
Stanley Kubrick

Hard to choose but I'd pick A. Stanley Kubrick and B. Francis Ford Coppola

*edit* George Lucas is a horrible director, even an excuse such as being on massive amounts of drugs for the past decade or so doesn't excuse the crap he's done and proclaimed to be brilliant.
