Best Steven King Movie of All Time
Here's your chance..now with the opening of Dreamcatcher and the unbelievable hype its getting (hopefully its fantastic) what do you think is the best adaptation of a Stephen King book so far..
I'm going with Misery..I have so many favorites but I keep coming back to that one

His best far and away was the TV adaptation of IT!! Scared the sh!t out of me.

I'd go for "The Shining"
Closely followed by Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile and Carrie.
I'd love to see a better version of "The Stand" as that book rocked!
Billy
The Shining for me to......
also liked The Green Mile, Christine and ehem....Silver Bullet

Smithers: That's Homer Simpson.
Mr. Burns: Simpson, ey? New man?
Smithers: He thwarted your campaign for governor, you ran over his son,
he saved the plant from meltdown, his wife painted you in the nude...
Mr. Burns: Doesn't ring a bell
Well, Granted Shawshank... But I'm gonna think that your referring to horror, in which case its a 3 way tie...
-The Shining
-Misery
-The First half of "The Stand"
NOTE: The first half of that mini was absolutely extrodinary... the entire armaggedon in general... it just kind got stupid once all the "good" humans got together in that one town.... Up until then.... with everyone have those weird dreams, with the old black lady being god... Man it was so DAMNED good!
M-O-O-N, That spells Tom Cullen!!

One time, my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news, it was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week he did it again, different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room! So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....

I guess no ones gonna vote for the Running Man

For me, and I've read 99% of his catalog, there are a few titles that stand out.
Shawshank - definitely.
Green Mile - a VERY close second.
I REALLY like Kubrick's version of the Shining (the shinning to all you Simpson fans out there).
However, the TV adaptation, with Rebecca DeMorney (and I can't think of the male lead) was also surprisingly good.
Dead Zone - movie AND TV series was/is great.
The Stand - first 3/4ths. Then, it falls apart at the end..
Much like IT. Beginning and even the middle was great - but that giant spider...
Needful things was fun - ok, not great - but when he's talking about his great-grandson at the end...come on...good stuff!
Golden Years - CBS TV show (I think 3 days - 6 hours) was REALLY good.
Ok...that's more than a few...
I've actually heard very good things about Dreamcatcher so I can't wait for that one as well (I _love_ Morgan Freeman)!!!

the book was really really good. brilliant short story, i urge anyone who likes kings work to pick it up and give it a try.
as for my favorite? gah no! i dunno.. IT was great except the ending. but theres too many "types" of king films.. you have the low budget trashing, the ultra long miniseries, and the "non horror films that work really well"
so i dunno. but theres a surprising amount of very good films based on his work when you think about it. then you read the books, and they blow you away even further.
Ooh, Stephen King
#1 - The Shining
#2 - The Running Man (I thought it was hilarious)
#3 - The Green Mile
Yes.... thats it
:nods:
Definitely "The Shining." Jack Nicholson is an excellent actor! Perhaps "The Green Mile," Michael Clarke Duncan actually was good in that movie (Daredevil Sucked), and Tom Hanks always is. Didn't like Hearts in Atlantis, but Dreamcatcher rocked!
